The question is can we reapply cos she is in her 33rd week going to 34th week. Can we reapply
and get a new interview date before she gets to her 36th week ?

This was the transcript

VO :is he your son (her pp was in my maiden name)
Dw :yes he is my son
Vo :why are you going to us
Dw :vacation and child birth
VO :how did u know about the hospital
Dw :i did my research via google and i like the review
VO: what are you doing for a living
Dw : i am a farmer. i'm into fishery and poultry
VO :what about your husband
Dw:he is the CEO of the farm
VO: so how much av u budgeted for the entire trip in usd
Dw: 15,500

Thanks so much Babatwi,

We have both been to dubai and I should be going to London in few weeks. I understand it will cost on the average about $10-12k for the trip. I am quite concerned about having immediate family in the US, how much of a disadvantage is this? As you said, nothing ventured, nothing gained, but I really have to be sure I stand a chance at all before putting in my N120k ( Visa for 2).
you can as well sponsor her trip and you be here so you can act as a tie here in Nigeria. While she is there, you can apply for your visa. My thoughts thou. ..

Hello peepz.....i did all my assignment well but my visa was denied. Am a first time applicant, with a child and DH, but he wasn't allowed in because he was once denied 2yesrs ago. He filled all necessary info but got there and was told he can't go for the interview, his old bar code isn't the same with the new. But then I proceeded....this is my transcript

Vo: Good morning

Me: Good morning
Vo: why are you going to the us
Me: for childbirth.
Vo: what do for a living?
Me: fashion designer.
Vo: why Didn't your husband come with you?
Me: I explained he wasn't allowed in, he was told to apply in 3 working days
Vo : what's your budget for this trip?
Me: 15k
Vo: how to you raise such amount?
Me: my husband is my sponsor
Vo: what does he do?
Me: he is a farmer, specialise on pig and fish farming.
Vo: ohk, who will care for your baby while you are there?
Me: my husband will join me since he's re_applying.
Vo how did you get the hospital?
Me: through a family friend and did intensive research on it.
Vo: have you traveled before, where and when?
Me: uk 2015
Kept typing oooooo.
Vo:sorry you are not eligible.

He didn't ask for any documents. What went wrong in my interview and how what should I do?

Sorry for the denial. Are you same with abdulmaj? Similar transcript.

1st thing, increase your budget. For a family of 3, 15k is really low for birthing.

2, work on your ties. As it is you both run your businesses. Speak about it in a way that will convince the VO its sufficient to bring you back to naija.

3, Apply alone. Let your hubby and son serve as a tie back home.

4, Read parts 1-3 and pray for God's Favour

shrekandfiona:

The birth trip will cost more than what you stated. I used a cheap hospital in texas yet i spent close to $18000 accommodation inclusive.

No one can predict your chances just go with an open mind that it can swing both ways but hope for the best.

Having an immediate family in US is more an advantage than a disadvantage especially if they are legal residents. Fear not

Thanks for your response.

I think you stand a good chance. Since your folks are in the US,i would advice that emphasis should be placed on your ties to home country. Package your application in such a way that you highlight your ties to Nigeria ,so that it doesn't seem as if you guys are planning to run away since you already have family there.

Thanks. Actually, we settled for PG Hospital in Maryland. We had to pay a chilbirth service 150,000 for that information. She is on her way as i'm writing this.
aye88:

Can she do Virginia. Quite close to Maryland. Had my baby in Virginia but stayed in Maryland. Clinton precisely. Distance was about 20mins drive. If she can't, then she can check put PG hospital Maryland. Not as expensive as the other Maryland hospitals. That's about the cheapest as far as Maryland is concerned.

My Wife travelled to Washington yesterday via virgin atlantic and he Fit to Fly from Havana Specialist hospital stated she was 35 weeks and she was almost denied boarding on the plane. She had to be assessed and passed fit to fly by the manager at the airport yesterday.

Best if you are 34 weeks or lower. No need for fit to fly 2k at the airport. That wasn't asked for.

Hope this is helpful and not too late.

Hello everyone,

Been following this discussion right from Part 1.

Had my first daughter in the US 5 years ago. I went with a visiting visa with DH which we got in Nov 2010. I was asked if i was going for any medical visit and I boldly said no. We actually had a successful vacation in NY December 2010/Jan 2011. I got pregnant in Aug/September 2011 after 7years of marriage. We decided to have the miracle baby in US. I tried to get ideas about POE and was told to conceal the preggy tummy with boubou. That was in March ending 2012 . It was not noticed. I went to Dallas Texas this time where I have family. Bill was outrageous my delivery 12k baby 3k some little 2k and 1.5k here and there and other hundreds which all amounted to about 21k. Little discount given. Paid about 2.5k and paid the rest from Nigeria. Had minor outstanding which i recently discovered as I called the Hospital for my zero balance statement and i paid off. About $600

Five years after, God has smiled at us again and we plan to have the baby in US. Am only worried about getting a new visa. A family friend is sending us invite for a 2 weeks family holiday against Xmas in Maryland. We will book an hotel near their home. I would be back around March for childbirth . My Edd is April 05 2018. Am just so anxious about my travel history. Also, i was stamped in 3 months in my last visit but i stayed up to 4 months .

Would I be having issues? I tried to go to Canada via Study visa but was denied for "purpose of visit". Will that affect my US visa application. We also relocated to another African country because of DH's change of business. Now am not working, which changes my status from the previous visa application credentials as I see from most interview transcripts they always ask for occupation.

Please help as i would like to go to embassy in 2 weeks

Good morning house. Please has anyone booked their flight through travelstart before? Did you encounter any challenge (esp as regards date change)? I called airfrance and also checked their site, tickets to Minneapolis are 800k plus but on travelstart and wakanow it's a little above 500k.
I booked my flight months ago to fly with Turkish airlines but I intend to leave earlier and the present fare difference is over 300k so I want to cancel and book airfrance.
Kindly respond.
Have a fruitful day.

Hello abdulmaj, you sound desperate. Please relax and take a deep breathe.

Yes you can reapply, since your wife applied alone and was denied, maybe its time you applied with her.

Work on your transcript. What you posted is poor, there was nothing convincing in that transcript.

You both own a farm. Talk about it with pride as a tie to your home country. Like this: We both run a farm & fishery and we supply agricultural products and equipments to federal establishments, hotels, traders etc. We also train and equip upcoming farmers etc modify this in your terms.

Increase your budget and make sure you have an evidence incase they ask to see.

Do you have good travel history together or individually? That can also be used to assess you.

Read parts 1-3 and pray hard.

Good luck and stay calm okay smiley

Pls note that there are some class of tickets (those ridiculously cheap ones) that they would ask for an arm & a leg if you try to change dates and add baby, the money they will ask you to bring self, can almost buy you a new return ticket. I have read on this forum were people that bought tickets from wakanow were able to change their dates and add baby without much hassle ,i have also read were some found it very expensive to change dates,so what i would advice you to do is either call them or go to their office and tell them your concerns and make your decision after speaking with them.

The only issue i see here is your 1month overstay. If you have good explanation for that then you're good to go.

You were given a visa for vacation, you went for your vacation 1st b4 going for childbirth. Not an issue.

You have relocated and you're now a stay at home mum. Not an issue. However, if you have your resident permit / stronger ties at your present place then apply from there no need to come to naija to apply.

You have your zero balance and receipts. Good. Have them handy.

For this trip, pls no need to state vacation. State childbirth and go when you are almost due. Have all your correspondence handy and apply.

Canada or any other country's rejection have no effect on US visa.

Just have convincing and honest reason why you overstayed on your last trip and hope for the best.

I appreciate your prompt response, dear. My husband has Resident permit here that covers my stay without work or other benefits. I just rnewed my daughter's passport from here and I asked the Officer who took the oath if i can apply from here and she said sure.

I overstayed because my baby came way past my due date. All plea to get them perform Elective CS on me fell o deaf ears. My baby came at 42 weeks while i requested for CS at 37 weeks.
Should I give this as a reason? Dont know why i feel this sudden anxiety.

Just tell the visa officer the trutht, it pays to always be truthful .moreover they are likely to suspect that it was because of your baby that you overstayed anyways.
Forget letter of invitation and just apply for medical visa straight. Read this thread, the knowledge you will gain here is immeasurable.

Since your hubby is the one with the benefits of the resident permit, I'll suggest he applies with you. It will give you an edge.

Your reason for overstaying is a strong and honest one. Explain it. Hopefully the VO will reason with you.

Its okay to be anxious but you need to relax a bit. I also did my renewal a few weeks back though via dropbox. I was called for an interview. Was anxious as well. But only 2 questions were asked. 1st was how much i paid when i went for delivery, 2nd was if i was going for medical purpose of which my answer was no as i am done with childbirth. My passport was ready the next day for pickup.

So i'll reiterate that you pick B2(medical) instead of vacation for your reason this time. Once given, you can still go on your vacation trip b4 childbirth.

All the best dear.

I haven't found any. Checked with about 5 hospitals. None wants to do VBAC and the bills am getting for CS in Pennsylvania is crazy. Lowest is 28k and I will get about 25% discount since its self pay.
