Dear @Justwise ... I need clarification on a few things, please be patient with me. I'm an old timer but was away for a while so it seems some things have changed and I don't want to run foul. We used to be allowed to find deals or use hospitals, come here and post entire cost breakdown per location. That was what made it fun and that is what has formed the backbone of what most newbies go to research now. Is that still allowed? Or we can no longer post cost implications of new finds or personal bills for existing hospitals. I ask because sometimes you post your bills and people who have used the place can help you if you're being overcharged (personal experience from Gwinnett). I truly get what you are saying about Agents, and I know how much I've benefited from research... but I also know how much the family here helped me and each other in the past, we didn't hoard quite as much and there was a big spirit of camaraderie even with all the mud slinging ; I.e I have read every single page from part one, but as the years passed and phones etc changed a lot of my saved info was lost, when I decided on Chicago this time it was still a kind soul here that helped me shorten the entire process and has saved me a ton. Please as our moderator, kindly be a little bit more gentle, so we do not alienate people with genuine intentions and good hearts... i know you mean well but in recent times something (the spirit) we had before is seriously missing from the group. As for Agents and people who use them, they usually get their own reward, especially when all they do is copy and paste.... It's people that made this group what it is and it's people that will sustain it. Kindly clarify the rules again regarding posting for those of us who somehow missed the memo and Ejoo, Biko, Dan Allah don't assume the worst when we mistakenly default sometimes... Tender justice with mercy, after all you are JustWise I hope I have been able to convince and not confuse you with these few words of mine Have a lovely day. 24 Likes |

Thanks for your reply daks01! So does that mean you can actually get a Virgin Ticket with those long stopovers without necessarily having a UK visa (since you saw passengers who flew without UK visas) ? The info was communicated to me when I intended buying a ticket as a must! Some of us dads may not mind those long stopovers for those commensurately ridiculously cheap deals when going to join DW o... daks01: |

Mamatukwas: Yes thosedays you are referring to nairaland hasn't started pay ad system, people are allowed to post links and breakdown without no problem, but since company started paying to place an ad here its only fair that they get value for their money. Will you be happy to be paying to place an ad here while others are allowed to promote their product freely direct or indirectly? I'm trying to strike a balance here but unfortunately many don't get it. 3 Likes |

Well justwise since urs is because of those paying ads here, what then is the importance of this thread if useful info of a budget friendly location and where to go can't be found here for those who aren't agent. We also spend our mb coming here to read and that is money generated to the owners of the platform. In all honesty I feel pple should be able to share their experiences and drop the price. They can exclude the name of the hospital and Dr. But dropping the state Wont be bad. If one needs to get the name u can then pm the individual privately that way it won't be publicly announced. Else the thread will be for visa and Poe transcript, not cost and procedures to birth on the USA as the name implies. Thanks. justwise: 13 Likes |

shirley013: Someone might mistake your response for someone who likes to be spoon-fed. When my DW and I had our sojourn last year, we had a lot of research done and made a lot of calls and in the end the correspondence gave us confidence that helped us to get through the episode in peace. At the POE no question that would be asked that we were not confident about answering. Even other things like account opening, renting a car getting about and other things, we were 'veteraned' enough to be able to get research on anything and have it without any stress. Secondly, with the paid adverts on the page, Just wise has been empowered to clamp down on free adverts. The thread exists because of NL and they have the right to monitor and control as they deem fit. Just my 2 cents though. 1 Like 1 Share |

hi justwise Well done with the moderation. I see your point about those paying for ads getting benefit thereof but how many hospitals do this and in how many states. I don’t think restricting free flow of discourse for the benefit of those who have paid ad is fair. That’s my opinion which if I’m being honest, I’m scared to say because of the firm and sometimes harsh responses I have noticed dissenting voices receive here. I don’t have to be agreed with but if no hospital in Tampa has paid for ad I see no reason why someone can’t freely share. But like you may say, if I feel so strongly, I might as well start my own social media platform and share info freely. I have no personal problems though as I am sorted but when I needed info in 2014, it was that same free flow of info that helped me and till date, the hospital I used is not advertising with you neither is there any hospital advertising from that state I used. Anyways just thought to share my views. I understand it may be a management decision and not subject to change but thought to share my thoughts nonetheless. 6 Likes |

@ Oga Justwise... just thought to add (and I'm only saying this coz I know you can discuss this with mgt) I really believe the reason why people even bother to advertise here is because people came together and made this platform fun and vibrant in the early days hence the large followership.... It then became an attractive proposition for advertisers. Can we pretty please find a balance where we the 'people' who just love this platform don't feel cheated? Case in point I run a page on insta with over 4K humble followers... most of them came and stayed for the info I offered and still offer for free... but I've now started getting people looking to pay for a feature (Whoop ) .... imagine if I then choose to limit posts to ONLY paid features, il loose the spirit and vibrancy of my page and it will cease to be authentic. The free info I give out helps more than harms me (if you understand what I mean) I'm in no way telling you how to run the page, it's just that plenty of us truly love this platform and plenty as @suzyt pointed out are scared to talk.. Thanks again for listening and responding and in the meantime pls let's know what our limits are pending any change. 7 Likes |

shirley013: You will also spend the same mb researching on google or other websites. Your visiting this forum generate traffic while in return you get free info, so its 50/50 thing. I don't hide any post that simply mention hospital used but when the individual start giving a feedback on services received and making recommendation then the post will be gone. I'm sorry if you don't like it but you can save your mb and pay an agent to get the info for you 1 Like |

Well I don't need to be spoon-fed to get info. I actually used a hospital and the research was done by mysef and the feed back I gave to the house and those who pmed me so you can clear that from ur mind. I guess ur research was guided by info dropped by those who gave feedback back in the years. My point is, reading current trends of info you can't even figure a budget friendly state to even direct ur research too. So how does this thread give info of cost and procedures to birth in the USA. Maybe the name should be modified. Well I rest my case. Nah una sabi. Dwebb55: 4 Likes |

Mamatukwas: Many of you here keep looking at this issue from me me and we we point of view but forgetting that it cost a lot to main a website like nairaland. People are still allowed to mention hospital they used and its up to an individual to contact that hospital for more inquiries, this thread is not only about hospitals and bills we share more important info here from individuals experiences to VO who comes in here from time to time to clear things up. All i'm saying is that don't advertise hospital deals here because it will stop those adverting the same product from paying for ad here. I have tried to strike a balance, i don't delete post because they mentioned a hospital name even when such post is reported, post i delete are those advertising deals directly or indirectly and making recommendations. I ask you again..how will you feel paying for something while others are getting it for free? |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by aye88: 8:07pm On Oct 31, 2017 |
justwise: Okay. I think I understand you. We can still mention hospitals we used and price breakdown. But direct or indirect advert is prohibited. If that's the case, then this has always been the case now. Nothing new. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Mamatukwas: 8:13pm On Oct 31, 2017 |
aye88: Yup seems to be the conclusion. Don't advertise and don't recommend. Just bare facts. Gottya @Justwise. Thanks. |

cobany09: If you are in dire need as you stated, it will be a dire act to use the search botton here or check on google. You can also do both and compare, make calls and do the work by yourself cos i dont think anyone is in dire need to give you such detail. My 2 cents. 5 Likes |

Hello House, so happy to be back here and wow Part 5 already... the ministry is truly moving forward... On this issue of sharing info and researching... in 2014 when I was to have my baby I did get a lot of info here but then I went ahead to do my own research and found a reasonably priced hospital in New York... I shared the info on this platform and also responded to lots of PMs... Fast forward to barely 2 years later, the number of Nigerians that flooded that hospital became so much that they had to review their package to almost double the price... now even I that shared the info can no longer make use of the hospital if need arises.... so truly I believe that agents use this information shared here a lot... Anyways, as with every forum and community, there will always be rules, so yes I agree with Justwise on the disadvantage of sharing freely when others actually paid to have their services advertised... I am glad I was able to share in previous parts all my experiences (hospital, PoE Transcript, getting baby’s details, flights etc)... On flights I remember I almost bought my infants ticket for hundreds of dollars from Delta at JFK but someone advised on the thread that it was cheaper in Naija and we did get it for about 30k or so. My affirmation also helped others back then... Anyways, it’s good to be back here... seems there a lot to catch up on... I wonder why VOs are really refusing a lot of people these days sha... and ehn ehn our people have abused the letter of intent to the point that it holds no water anymore... kaiii God help us o... Lemme Go and read up... and truly it does pay to do some research yourself instead of waiting to be spoon fed... it gives an edge of confidence. One love guys 6 Likes 1 Share |
