@Sagamite,
Your comparisons on the George jail term vs the other fraudsters may the factually flawed.

George was jailed for not following laid down procedure of civil service & deliberately splitting contracts.

The allegation that he 'stole' 84 billion was never one of the reliefs sought by the prosecution. . . do get your facts straight.

For the record: I hate Bode George & all them thieving PDP politicians.

Yes, bruv. I think someone has corrected me either on this thread or another. But a journalist with a brain in his head should have explained what contract splitting is as 99.9% of readers would not know what it is.

Ekiti monarch, college provost kidnapped, killed in auto crash
Gbenga Ariyibi

Ado Ekiti – A first class monarch in Ekiti State, the Attah of Aiyede, Oba Adeleye Orisagbemi, and the acting provost, College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, Dr Gabriel Olowoyo, were, Saturday, kidnapped at different locations and killed in an auto-crash as the abductors tried to escape with them.

Sunday Vanguard reliably gathered that the monarch was coming from a function in Lagos with his son, Lanre and driver when they were kidnapped along Ilawe-Ado Ekiti Road.

The kidnappers, numbering seven, allegedly operated in a Liteace bus and raided as they passed through Ikole Ekiti until they got to Ilasa in Ekiti East Local Government area of the state where they kidnapped Olowoyo, his personal assistant and driver as they were returning from Abuja.

The kidnappers were said to have intercepted the provost’s Toyota Camry official car after buying fuel in the town.

The kidnappers were said to have ordered all their victims into their bus and drove towards Kabba Lokoja Road where, upon sighting a patrol team of the Federal Road Safety Commission [FRSC], the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree, killing the monarch, the acting provost and their drivers.

According to Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment, Otunba Segun Olanrewaju, who hails from Ayede Ekiti, the monarch’s son, Lanre, survived the accident, but suffered fracture.

He explained that the provost and the two aides were returning from Abuja where Olowoyo had gone for a meeting.

Ekiti State governor, Engr. Segun Oni, yesterday, described the death of the monarch, provost and their drivers as shocking.

Chief press secretary to the governor, Mr. Wale Ojo_Lanre, in a statement, said the governor was shocked when he received the news of the abduction and death.

This dumbo does not think it is important to report what happened to the kidnappers? undecided Did they escape? Were they arrested? Were they injured? *shakes head*

FUT Minna expels 5 students for alleged ra-pe
Wole Mosadomi

Minna — Federal University of Technology, FUT, Minna has expelled five of its students for allegedly ra-peing a female student of the institution.

Three students are also charged with criminal conspiracy and indecent assault.

The students involved are Kevin Ajiboye of Agricultural and Bio-Resources Engineering, Chidi Ebere Makwuguwo of
Mathematics and Computer Science Department and Lanre Oseya of Chemistry Department.

It was reliably gathered that the assaulted female student had gone to visit her boyfriend in the off campus but did not meet her lover. While waiting for her “Romeo”, the three male students who are said to be co-tenants with the boyfriend alegedly connived to ra-pe her before the arrival of the lover boy.

The incidence was reported by the girl to her boyfriend on arrival and the aggrieved “Romeo” reported the case at the Bosso Police Station and the three boys were arrested.

The case has now been transferred to a Minna Magistrate Court for trial.
Public Relations Officer of the university, Mrs. Lydia Legbo who confirmed the story said the university authority on getting the police report set up its own independent investigation committee and found the three students guilty, hence their expulsion.

This pathetic, mo-ronic, ediotic, re-tarded foooooool is so insensitive to a violent and degrading crime against a young woman that he feels reporting an act of despoil should be reported using terms that he finds funny. This foooooooool called Wole Mosadomi needs to be koboko-whipped and frog-marched for at least 2 miles. Stuuupid, illiterate quack.

I am not even going to go into his headline saying 5 people were expelled, but only accounted for 3 people in his story.

There must have been 4 people that "despoiled" the girl.
Think through the report, you ll discover that the reporter was
so happy about the incident that he narrated the account of the incident
as if it is a huge and commendable achievement. He must have been the 4th person.

How I wish the bespoiled girl was his sister sad sad sad

Nigerian Couple Convicted in US over Forced Labour
Name not given,

A federal jury found an Arlington couple guilty Tuesday of compelling a Nigerian widow to work as their servant for nine years.
Emmanuel and Ngozi Nnaji each face up to 55 years in prison after their convictions on conspiracy, forced labour and other charges.

According to a Justice Department statement, trial evidence showed the Nigerian-born Nnajis lured the woman to the U.S. with promises of a salary and child support.
The evidence shows the couple seized the woman’s passport, isolated her in their home and made her work long hours as their servant, with no days off and little or no pay. They didn’t provide support for the woman’s six children in Nigeria , while they limited and monitored her contact with her family.

Emmanuel Nnaji also sexually assaulted the victim, according to the statement.
The woman had told investigators that she met Emmanuel Nnaji in 1996 while working as a nanny for his brother-in-law in Nigeria . Ngozi Nnaji’s brother asked if she would go work for the couple in Texas , and she agreed.
Court documents show that he took her to the U.S. Embassy in Lagos and obtained a passport and visa for her as Comfort Nnaji, the name of Emmanuel Nnaji’s mother.

The woman said she lived with the Nnajis first in their Irving apartment, then in their Arlington home, and cooked, cleaned and cared for their three children. According to testimony, the couple refused to let her attend church or have friends.
One day, the woman was able to hide in a closet and call her niece in Nigeria to tell her about her ordeal. Documents show that the niece told a Nigerian priest who lived in Texas and was back home on vacation. He gave the niece his cellphone number and asked her to pass it to her aunt.

The priest returned to Texas in February 2006, established contact with the woman and helped plan her escape. On Feb. 24, 2006, the priest drove to Arlington , where the woman met him on a street corner holding a bag and fled in his car.

A United States federal jury in Texas has convicted a Nigerian-born couple based in Arlington , Texas , Emmanuel and Ngozi Nnaji, of forcing a widowed Nigerian mother of six into servitude for nine years.
The US Justice Department said in a statement on Wednesday that a jury found the defendants guilty of conspiracy, forced labor, document servitude, alien harboring and false statements. Ngozi and Emmanuel Nnaji each face a maximum sentence of up to 55 years in prison.

According to the evidence at trial, the couple enticed the widow to come to the US to be their domestic servant by falsely promising a salary and support for her children, whom she was struggling to support.
The defendants procured fraudulent immigration documents, confiscated the victim’s documents, harbored her in their home and compelled her to work long hours with no days off for little or no pay. They also used a scheme to isolate her and restrict her communications, withheld her documents and pay and refused her requests to return home or be paid.

Court documents also said the couple failed to provide support for the victim’s six children in Nigeria, limited and monitored contacts with her family in Nigeria , isolated her from normal society in the United States , and refused to allow her to regularly attend church. According to the evidence at trial, Emmanuel sexually assaulted the victim and made her too scared to call the police.

A statement quoted Assistant Attorney-General for the Civil Rights Division, Thomas E. Perez, as saying, “Holding other human beings in servitude against their will is a violation of human rights that will not be tolerated in our free society. This prosecution demonstrates our commitment to combating human trafficking in all its forms, vindicating the rights of trafficking victims and bringing human traffickers to justice.”

Is the bolded part not just a repetition of what has already been said? Dumb Arrow of a journalist, I hope his salary is not more than N10K per month as that is his stuupid worth.

US Keeps $917m Nigeria Bribe Settlement
Ejiofor Alike

Even though the bribery crime originated from Nigeria and the country lost millions of dollars over the contract, the United States justice department is to keep at least $917 million settlement comprising $338 million from French Engineering major Technip and $579 million from Kellogg Brown and Root LLC (KBR) over the $6 billion Nigeria Liquiefied Natural Gas (NLNG) contract.

Eni, Snamprogetti's parent company at the time, has also put aside $307 million for a potential future settlement, bringing the total to over $1.2 billion, which Nigeria may have lost to bribes. Unlike the late General Sani Abacha loot, where Switzerland repatriated $505 million stolen by the late ruler, the US would keep all the settlement money in respect of the NLNG contract scandal.

The repatriated $505 million stolen by the late head of state were returned in tranches of $461.3 million and $44.1 million.
The Halliburton bribery scandal had dated back to 1994 when bids were submitted to build the NLNG plant at a cost of $6 billion.

A joint venture company (TSKJ) between Technip, an Italian engineering company, Snamprogetti; a US engineering company, KBR, of the Halliburton group; and the Japanese engineering and construction company (JGC) was formed to bid for the contract.
After TSKJ was formed, it set up three companies registered in Madeira, Portugal to recruit two “consulting companies,” Tri-Star Investment Ltd, and Marubeni Incorporated, with the alleged mandate to bribe Nigerian “officials of the executive branch of government, NNPC and NLNG officials, and political party leaders,” according to indictment filed at the US District Court in Houston.

Techip had agreed to pay the sum of $338 to the US government for scheming to bribe Nigerian government officials in order to secure the NLNG contract.
Similarly, KBR had last year agreed to pay $579 million when it was discovered that it also bribed Nigerian officials to get contracts.

The discovery by the US government followed years of investigation into the activities of companies with subsidiaries abroad. Usually, firms that violated US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act were made to pay heavy fines as a deterrent.
Technip's settlement would be paid as criminal penalty. The US Justice Department has also filed a deferred prosecution agreement and a criminal information resolving charges of conspiracy and violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Technip will also pay $98 million to settle a related civil complaint by the Securities and Exchange Commission. During the case, the court heard how the company hired two agents to pay bribes to Nigerian government officials.
Up till now, the real identities of all the Nigerian government officials that received the bribes in respect of the contract have not been officially released.

Nigerians indicted by the probe committee set up by the Federal Government and headed by the former Inspector-General of Police Mike Okiro are yet to be named and prosecuted. But US had also jailed some top officials of the firm involved in the scandal.

This asinine goat is comparing looted money from public funds with money charged as fines by a sovereign nation.

The daft fool expects the US government to pass fines they charged a company to Nigeria.

Someone employed this RETARD?

Globacom may leave Ghana
Ezra Ijioma

There are indications that Globacom may leave Ghana if the authorities fail to honour their promise to protect its investment there.

Reports indicate that Globacom, one of Nigeria‘s biggest telecommunications network is receiving hostile treatment in Ghana as the company has had its advertising structures damaged and telecommunications equipment vandalised.

There are also official restrictions on the erection of the firm’s communication masts.

Globacom‘s Media Relations Officer in Nigeria, Mr. Bode Opeseitan, confirmed this ugly development, but said the Ghanaian government had agreed to address the issue.

He said, ”In fact, it was a Ghanaian newspaper that broke the story that Glo is contemplating leaving Ghana before Ghanaian officials now approached Glo last month and said ‘wait, whatever problems there are, we will sort them out‘.

”We believe in the government‘s promise and hope that it fulfils it. When our mast was sabotaged in December last year, the Ghana Police arrested the culprit and the case is still on. Even the issue of official restriction in erection of masts in certain areas will be addressed as the government promised.

”We are a proudly African company and the Ghanaian government needs foreign investments and would not want to lose Glo and its investments,” he added.

Recently, there has been increasing hostility towards Nigerian businesses in Ghana despite Nigerians accounting for over 60 per cent of foreign investments there. Ghana government last month imposed a $30,000 fee on any new business by Nigerians and its film industry has ruled that Nigerian actors featuring in Ghanaian movies must pay a $1,000 fee.

Early this year, Director, Marketing and Public Relations, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Mr. Edward Ashong-Lartey, acknowledged that the country was currently experiencing some challenges in the areas of security, high interest rates, bank charges and inadequate power generation (1,850-mega watts) that may discourage investors, but noted that the government was working seriously on ways to address the issues.

Globacom which began operations in Ghana in December 2009, has faced many hostile acts which include encroachment on the frequency allocated to it, the sabotage of its billboards, light boxes, lamp post signs and other equipment geared towards the inauguration of its full operation.

It will be recalled that last February, more than 12 light boxes placed around Accra International Airport traffic light median were destroyed and in May, more than 14 light boxes were destroyed in Accra metropolis.

Also, the Ghanaian environmental protection agency banned the erection of communication masts in some major areas, and this has affected Globacom adversely since it is still a new telecoms company and needs to acquire as much coverage as possible.

The journalist that wrote this article, Ezra Ijioma is a caused RETARD!

This drooling nitwit claimed: "Ghana government last month imposed a $30,000 fee on any new business by Nigerians".

Did the law apply to only Nigerians or was it for all foreign investments. The bloody retard twists the story and try and cause divisions between people. Cretins like this arsehole are the types who cause wars and genocides. Bloody fool. Same goes to the daft Editor that hired the schismatic lunatic and approved this story for publication.

@illusion9,
it is just arrangement forget that logic. which part of the nigerian constitution says there will be more punishments for one who duped an individual compared to that one who betrayed the trusts of nigerians in stealing from our public purse.
the truth is that most of all these jail terms are more political than judicial. look at balogun, a chief security officer of the federation becoming a thief. it is embarrassing. with this kind of justice, nigeria has refused to make head-way in anything positive. no wonder all 419ers have turned to politics where u steal more money and get less jail terms. look at china, public servants who steal get capital punishment and by so doing, u are been compared to a high way robber.
tell me who will be alive among our politicians if we introduce hanging for thieving politicians.
we all saw alams went in and came out, today, he is a kingmaker and a national hero and a political godfather and one of the most popular elites in the country.

@sagamite,
it is good that people are correcting u already here and u are accepting your mistakes. if u are not into any profession, u will not know more than those in it.
in every write-up, there is a key massage. some of what u find out to be mistakes here are reported speeches and the journalists most times want you to make ur judgement because the target might be in future dealings.
when u quote someone, u have the option of making ur own observation or leaving that to ur audience.
again, nigeria is a different ball game and we saw what happened to ait when they aired live seating that covers the third term agenda debates so most of these media houses for the fear of sss and other security agents, would rather let you make ur judgement as they try to make the news be in form of reported speeches.

Evil Banker! Absconds With Two Sierra-Leonian Kids
TOCHUKWU DARLINGTON

ADA Florence Isiodu is a banker. A Nigerian living in Sierra Leon up until a few days ago when she disappeared from the country and surfaced in Owerri Imo State Nigeria. Ordinarily, her appearance in the capital city would not have raised any eyebrows if she had not arrived with two Seirra Leonean children, two year old Ada and three year old Bernard. That would not have meant anything on its own and Ada would have remained another statistic in the books of the second generation bank if the children had not been reported missing by their parents.

Suddenly Ada has metamorphosed from a banker to a human trafficker. She has been accused of abducting the children from their homes and bringing them into Nigeria without proper adoption certification, being that the Ministry of Social Welfare and Gender Affairs have no record of their adoption.

Those who know this femme fatale' who resides at 36 Main Motor Road Wilberforce, Seirra Leone say that this is just part of a series of shady activities the woman has been involved in. The banker with a criminal bent had before now defrauded a Pastor Timothy of Thorough Life Ministry, Bailey Street by seducing him into signing a guarantor's form for her with which she accessed his account and withdrew three million Leones.
As it stands now Ada is wanted by the Sierra Leonean authorities and the bank also who claim that she travelled out of the country without their knowledge.

This halfwit goat's writing skill is just pathetic, I will not go into that.

Since when can employers declare someone wanted for travelling out of a country without their knowledge?

Jonathan commends Babangida
Elizabeth Archibong

President Goodluck Jonath has wished Ibrahim Babangida good health and long life as the former military celebrated his 69th birthday on Tuesday.

In a letter dated August 17th, a copy of which was made available to State House Correspondents yesterday, Mr. Jonathan said: “As you celebrate this day with family, friends and numerous well wishers, it is my prayer that Almighty God continues to guide, guard and bless you with robust health and His abiding provision in many years ahead.”

The president remarked that Mr. Babangida had done so much to uplift this country and therefore deserves to be celebrated.

“I wish you a very happy sixty-nine birthday anniversary. Congratulations your Excellency and please accept the assurances of my highest consideration and esteem,” he wrote.

The President’s congratulatory message came on the heels of the presidential contest, for which Mr. Babangida has already declared his interest and which Mr. Jonathan is still to make a public declaration.

Only last week, Mr. Babangida responded to a comment by Mr. Jonathan saying that for claiming that he was serving out the joint ticket he had with late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, the president was being intellectually dishonest.

Another retarded Nigerian journalist.

How did wishing/greetings become a headline that says someone "commends".

Why do Nigerian press keep on churning out these kinds of retards?

Or is there a brown envelope involved?

Or is grammar a challenge for this cretin called Elizabeth Archibong?
