ibabkr:I don't want to call names, but our lingua Franca is English. They suppose to write it in a plain Language so that all Nigerians can read it. Better still, they should interpret it as they did in our currency note. Rubbish! I hope we know what we are doing in this Nation. 2 Likes |

DonaTee: If we should look at the matter without bias Arabic should be a recognized national language in Nigeria. We feel the northerners are illiterates but we fail to see they are more familiar with the Arabic language. The Hausa language has about 45% Arabic in it. The northerners will learn more if they learn their subjects in Arabic. I still stand that there's a great difference between Arabic and Islam. Arabic is one of the oldest languages on the planet with it's origin dating back at least 5000 years while Islam is not even up to 2000 years. 2 Likes 3 Shares |

ibabkr:I agree it is Victory is from God or whatever u want to call it, the point is "Why is it written in Arabic" if this question is not logical to you then, my brother, u are way more ignorant and biased! Arabic is never a major language in Nigeria and would never be, it's not our official language and it's not even among the top 10 commonly spoken languages in Nigeria. So the question again, "WHY?" 1 Like 1 Share |

ibabkr: Are you a chronic liar or just acutely ignorant? there is no cross on the Nigerian Navy logo! What is on the NN logo is an anchor! what we are yet to be told is why arabic was selected as the language for that inscription... can you offer an explanation? 2 Likes

ibabkr: It's not a cross on the Nigerian Navy logo,it's an anchor. It is a shame when young Nigerians like you, display such intellectual deficiencies in the spirit of tribal, religious and political zealotry. You lose all sense of cogitation and your ineptitude is only applauded by your kind. Even the god you know not but profess would be ashamed of you. 2 Likes |

ibabkr: How many Nigeria navy logos are out there? The only logo I know has a red eagle standing on an anchor with cable. I know an anchor is related to the sea/ships and normally a heavy metal object used to moor a ship to the bottom of the sea...where is the cross you are talking about? If there's any other logo out there, pls upload it. I think the Nigeria Army didnt get that right. For your Red Cross argument, check the history of Red Cross and what it represents. I believe there is the red crescent in the Arab world. The Red Cross isnt making any fuss about that. 1 Like 1 Share

Re: PHOTOS: Nigerian Army Modifies Logo by logicab: 11:26am On Nov 05, 2016 |
The history of the Nigerian Army dates to 1863, when Lt Glover of the Royal Navy selected 18 indigenes from the Northern part of the country and organized them into a local force, known as the "Glover Hausas". Glover as governor of Lagos used this small force to mount punitive expedition in the Lagos hinterland and to protect British trade routes around Lagos. In 1865, after the "Glover Hausa" became a regular force, it was renamed to "Hausa Constabulary". It performed both police and military duties for the Lagos colonial government. https://www.naij.com/tag/nigerian-army.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glover_Hausas That is the history of the Nigerian Army; and that explains a lot of things. |

That thing should be written in English unless it is there for religious reasons. Nigeria official language is English not Arab. Arab inscription have not business being on the the logo of a federal institution |

mangojuice:no I will not cos this is not really a priority to me. with all the Islam and Christianity that we carry on our heads in this country, we are not better than China, UK, USA etc. rather we keep finding ways to migrate to such countries. so to don't drag me to a fruitless religious argument. let's save the time and think about innovations that will be of use to humanity. thank you. |
Re: PHOTOS: Nigerian Army Modifies Logo by Nobody: 11:30am On Nov 05, 2016 |
kolaaderin: It has EVERYTHING to do with religion. Northern Nigerian muslims are full of controversy when it comes to religion, always trying to force Islam down people's throats. From their hisbah police smashing bottles of beer in the north to attempting to introduce sharia into the Nigerian constitution and that inscription on the Nigeria army logo. I won't wear a uniform with that on it. |

Does dat mean latin or hebrew language shld make it on d symbol since dats d official language of d bible? 1 more questions, y did dey write in only 1 language? So only northerners can read it? kolaaderin: Arabic is a language JUST like English or Latin??...they could as well had used Shona, Swahili, Yoruba or Igbo. What's the idea behind the use of Arabic? How many people speak Arabic in Nigeria, even amongst muslims, how many of them could speak, read and write Arabic?? |
