Pastors And Thier Role In This Recession by 3sexy: 7:22am On Nov 06, 2016
I am getting pissed with the way pastors are asking members for money these days . last week Sunday our pastor announced that we have to contribute 10% of our monthly salary to the church for the next six months , this means we are loosing 20% of our income to church alone (I.e 10% tithe ,10% for contribution to the church )
My anger is this , are these pastors not aware that times are hard?, what have they done to assist poor member who can't even afford A decent meal, pay fees, rent etc ?, all they do is senselessly ask for money!
They keep screaming , bring your tithe into the store house , yet we are yet to see anu store house in the church ! They ignore the part that talked about helping the poor, the fatherless and widows. This is the height of greed and selfishness.
Every January they will demand for first fruit , I cant imagine ,giving my entire salary to a pastor that doesn't care to know how I'm gonna survive !
Nigerian Pastors , WE ARE IN A RECESSION. Pls

Niaralanders what role has your pastors played in this period of recession?

OP i don't blame pastors o, i blame the people that give. God never said u should pay tithe . Read Deuteronomy 14 v1 _29 . They say if you don't pay tithe God wouldn't bless you. Dangote de pay tithe for church? Bill Gates and Armancio Ortega de pay tax for church? yet they r the richest muffuckaz on the planet. If you give 20k to a church that already has millions sitting untouched in bank accounts, isnt that stupiid? Why not give 10k each to 2 of ur neighbors who u r sure don't have food to eat. Pastors don't give a fukkk abt salvation, all they care about is ur tithe and offering.. Me i don't pay tithe to any church or pastor, when i want to start, i will look for churches like COCIN who send missionaries to rural areas n oda African countries to win souls for Christ. My guys went to Redeem, the time for closing passed n church no finish, they decided to leave. The pastor shouted from the pulpit that if u want to leave leave but drop ur offering.

Paying tithe is a necessity from God. The responsibility of the pastor is to ensure that he uses it to provide food in God's storehouse. If he does not use it for that purpose he will be judged by God, he's not answerable to you, he's answerable to God. Yours is to pay, once u pay, then you've obeyed your own part and you will be blessed.

Offering shdnt be a compulsion but optional. Any pastor who makes it compulsory is a thief.

Tithing isn't compulsory for modern day Christians.
RadicallyBlunt:

God is not modern. Besides its not d pastor who would make it compulsory. Its already in d bible. If you don't pay tithe, you're not a Christian at all
Same way killing witches, enemies and stoning sinners are in the bible.

And just so you know, Tithe was a
requirement of the Law in which the Israelites were to
give 10 percent of the crops they grew and the livestock
they raised to the tabernacle.

How many churches accept crops and animals as tithe?

That should tell you something.

Today's Christian are under grace not law.

Secondly, Old Testament Law required multiple tithes—
one for the Levites, one for the use of the temple and
the feasts, and one for the poor of the land—which
would have pushed the total to around 23.3 percent. So if you only pay 10% then you're stealing 13% from God.

yes its in the bible.

New generation Christians give as they can. There's no fixed percentages and although its important, its no compulsory.

New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of
income a person should set aside, but only says gifts
should be “in keeping with income” (1 Corinthians 16:2)

Each man is taught to give what he has
decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under
compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” ( 2
Corinthians 9:7).

I don't care if you're a pastor or a potential pastor. It's wrong to collect tithes meant for priest who were not allowed to own properties and still go ahead to build houses, lands, private jets and schools.

God will judge.

I don't understand what you mean! Is it the same pastors that can't even provide for the poor in their church that is suppose to play a role in this recession

The same pastor who will still stand on pulpit and preach about the sins and curses that will come to your household if you don't pay your tithe? Those same pastors?

The ones that can't call to check on the common man in the congregation if he doesn't come to church for two weeks despite the fact he is faithful in service but his tithe is below 5k in a month. That same pastor? undecided

Abeg I no dey deceive myself

Just pay and leave the rest to God.. but it shouldn't be because your Pastor is forcing you

We musnt complain about everything,
If we feel the pastors dont do what they are supposed to do with the tithes and contributions made. you can easily use the money to help the needy.

Or you can equally assume your giving/doing it for God not any human!

Please can you tell us where the store house is? And pls don't tell me the store house is the bank coz foods are not kept in banks. And my question is where in the Bible did you see people paying tithe as money the tithe that peole paid back then were animals farm produce. Who changed modern day tithe to money? And the tithe was meant for the nation of Israel alone even if you go to isarael today the Rabbis and other priest of judaism don't collect tithe anymore so if the nation that first observed tithe doctrine has discontinued the doctrine why do churches in other countries still scare the hell out of their members to pay tithe...even God told the levitical preists not to collect any allotment or any property from among the people of Israel Numbers 17:20-21. So why do our pastors/priests still collect tithes? mind you i'm a born again christian don't think i'm an atheist. I know the word of God from back to back

Pastors and men of gods have no role to play in recession. Nigeria is a circular state and besides these fraudsters have done more harm than good to their followers.

What sickens me about these churches is how averse they are to helping people in need. Its all about take take and take some more... That a pastor lives in so much affluence and feels nothing when he sees his members pinching and scraping to get by is disgusting. and you still shamelessly demand that they give more.

Product of a brainwashed and gullible follower. who says they are not accountable to members who work hard to pay tithes? you people hide behind this to defraud members. i'm so happy to be free from this your lies.
