Hello my Dell C640 will not boot and turns off after about 10 seconds, the implication is that I cannot enter BIOS with it and there is very little I can do with it. Yes, I have connected it to the mains. Any help from the experts there will be much appreciated.

so i decided to reboot the laptop , to press the esc key and to wait . after 40 min it goes to the setup . i have tried every thing there but after rebooting the same thing happend and must wait for 40 min again to see it going to setup . i putted a virtual windows on a cd and after 40 min it boots on it and begins to load windows but veryyyyyyyyy veryyyyyyy slowly until it rises the windows desk ,
strange problem.
can someone help me ?

Thank you for the above enquiry. I take it an HD/Memory test has been run in the bios
diagnostics menu ? if so, does it pass or fail. tampering with the eeprom chip was not
neccessary. Here's your diagnostics in narrwoing down the case. Restart laptop to Bios
and check bios version. is it version 9, 10 or 11. to verify this please double check the link
below and click the bios that applies to you. Then click fixes to read more before upgrading

Thank you for the above enquiry and here is your diagnostics in narrowing the cause.

Test laptop without battery just the charger . does it power off and vice versa for the battery.

Examine all the usb ports known as where you plug a usb stick. Any burnt/smells/damages.

wickle the charger at the end that plug into the laptop, does LED light blicks on the laptop

Any beep beep sound when first power up. can you hear the fan kicks in before turning off

I reckon might be bad cpu fan or dc jack very rare for a motherboard to pack up. Good luck

^^^No, your laptop won't crash. It's just that your desktop wall paper would turn black and the annoying message would be popping up at intervals on the bottom of the screen.

Ahh finally, at some point you won't be able to use windows media player any more and no windows updates too.

is windows 7 that much of a must for you? why dont you install the same OS that your computer came with and use the key under your computer, that way you have an original OS and dont need to worry about all the validation wahala.

it has to be a fresh install, and it's have to be the exact same flavour of windows that your computer came with so the key on the sticker under your computer will work(i.e. if it's vista basic on the sticker then you have to install vista basic)

windows is taking things really serious with windows 7 as far as piracy is concerned.

Follow the pieces advice below to fix all computer problems:

1) Is your computer unstable? Make sure your anti-virus is up-to-date and run a full system scan.

2) Is your computer slow? You need Regcure or TuneUp utilities. These are software programs that clean the system registry and eliminate unwanted cache files.

It started to freeze/hang and prompting the mouse cursor to disappear.Everything freezes and so i have to SWITCH OFF the Laptop.Upon switching it back ON, it won't show anything on the screen but u'll hear the processor moving. But when i switch it back ON like say 20 minutes or more later, it boots and starts well and then freezes again soon after. Pls, what could be the cause? Help me pls.

I have a Toshiba Home Edition laptop with windows xp as it's O.S.My laptop is slow and my battery charging strength reduces from 85% to 41%.Initially i though it was the anti-virus software that was installed on it that is causing it,However,i removed it and it inproves a little but after a while it's went back to it's old habit of been slow and sometimes hangs that is why i sometimes press the power button to put it off and power it on again. My Toshiba Satellite Pro L450-17 running on window 7 will not turn on. When I plug the AC adapter the power LED and the battery charge LED light up with normal GREEN LIGHT. When I press on the power button the laptop powers up but will not start. There is no video on LCD or external monitor. I have HP 6730s running on Vista Business edition hence is slow. Now problem is it hangs after every 10-15 mins, it doesnt even let restart using ctrl+alt+del. Checked for viruses none found, defragmented the hard drive, removed Chrome, removed all other unused softwares, still the same problem.
