Our sins make a separation between us and God. He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. Psalm 66:18 says that if I have sin in my heart “the Lord will not hear me.” In other words the ungodly don’t have His ready ear unless they approach Him in humility.

Today two Jehovah’s Witnesses came to our door.

If you don’t know how to share the gospel with JW’s, let me tell you what I do. I say, “There’s a knife in my back. I have three minutes to live. How can I enter the Kingdom?” I asked that today, and they couldn’t help me.

The biblical answer is to simply trust alone in Jesus--that everlasting life is the gift of God (see Ephesians 2:8-9).

But JW’s are a “works righteousness” religion (as are all religions outside of biblical Christianity). They think that they have to DO something to earn their way into the Kingdom. They believe that, because (like most religious people) they haven’t seen their sin in its true light. For that they need the moral Law (the Ten Commandments).

Think of the thief on the cross. He said that he was justly being crucified. I don’t think that he was saying that Roman law was fair and just—capital punishment for theft! I think he was pointing to God’s Law rather than man's. He was justly dying because he had sinned against God.

It was in that hopeless condition that he turned to Jesus and said, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” He couldn’t DO anything because his hands were nailed by the law to the cross. He couldn’t go anywhere, because his feet were nailed by the law to the cross.

Neither can we do anything or go anywhere to be saved, because we too have been nailed by the Law of God as guilty, deserving death and Hell. All we can do is turn to Jesus and trust in the mercy of God. We in essence say, “Lord! remember me.” And He will.

The authors of the bible were human, you can believe they were inspired by god , or by aliens or by santa clause or whatever.

But its still a book written by uniformed humans who in their pre modern-science understanding of the universe, put earth as the centre piece and claimed the moon gives out light, which are all laughable claims by our current scientific understanding.

You have to remember that being anti-Bible for many is a hill upon which they will die. It’s a huge deal, because if the Bible is God’s Word then they are accountable for adultery, fornication, for sinful imaginations, and for lust (which the Bible says is adultery of the heart). So their hard-nosed agenda is to prove that the God of the Bible is unjust in His judgments, and therefore any thought of Judgment Day and Hell is bogus.

So they are searching after truth about as much as a man dying of thirst searches after salt. They rather want to bolster their case for an evil Bible, so they fortify themselves with what they think are mistakes, contradictions, and atrocities, etc.
If you explain that biblical slavery was akin to being a servant to pay off debt, the skeptic will just run off to cut and paste more problems he has with the Bible.

The only effective way to convince him is to move away from his contentious intellect (his carnal mind) and appeal to his God-given society-shaped conscience and take him through the moral Law. With the help of God your aim is to make him thirst after righteousness. It was only when I saw my sins (way back in 1972) that I began to see my danger and whisper “What must I do to be made right with God?” The salt of the Law made me thirst for the righteousness that can only be found in Christ.

There are at least two evidences. One is creation. It is scientifically impossible for Nature to create itself.

While it is filled with ancient laws that God gave to the Hebrew nation, it tells tomorrow’s news before it happens. See Matthew 24, Luke 21, 1 Timothy 4, 2 Timothy 3 for some examples.

It also tells us how to get everlasting life, and warns of a coming Day of Judgment for all of humanity.

It’s not my way. Jesus is the One who said that no one can get to God but through Him.
