devilson:.... Buhari will dare not call this kind of man, because he won't come. Before now, how many people know professor Akintunde Ibitayo kinwande, (an electrical and mechanical computer professor ) but when they nominated his name as the Chairman of Nigeria population commission ,the man rejected the job. So don't expect the Yoruba in diaspora to support Fulani man. Asiwaju Tinubu that would have encouraged those ones, he is being gradually sideline at the federal, so, OMOLUABI, always think deep and twice. fkdmods: I'm British and have been for nearly 30 years. I may be British on paper, have certain ideologies etc. but these don't make me any less a Nigerian. My children are in their mid to late twenties, born and bred in the U.K. and have never ever been to Nigeria (yet). However, they see themselves as Nigerians in many ways. If my kids (and many like them here in the U.K) identify with their Nigerian origin, how much more the man in question who was even born in Nigeria and had his early education there? My brother is a naturalised American and has been for 38 Years. His grown up children are all Americans by birth and upbringing. None of them even have Nigerian passports. Yet, they all see themselves as Nigerians and identify strongly with the culture. Because you put down British, American or whatever down on paper doesn't make yours or your parents' country of origin any less what it is. Adebayo Ogunlesi is an American citizen on paper yes. But he is a Nigerian by origin and nothing can ever change that! 9 Likes 2 Shares |

MadamT: Good for you. But remember this; what you see yourself as and what you really are, are two different things. I would seriously advise you to throw away that mentality. There is no way you can be normal and identify with the Nigerian culture. It is a culture that has kept them in the rot they've experienced since independence. |

Chiefpriest1: God bless you for this bro , its a Pity that there so many unfortunate ones like this all over nairaland. You see them on every politics and crime thread making no sensible contribution than just to insult each other , praise politicians that don't even care about their existence. Its also rather sad that most of them are within the age group you mentioned and to add to that they are mostly unemployed and they think buhari, tinubu, rochas and co are responsible for their predicament . If these ones are the future of Nigeria , I wonder what will become of us 2 Likes |

MadamT:..... Perfect point. Thanks for your candid opinion. There are people on this forum clinging to the notion of diaspora Nigerians denouncing their country of origin “for The civilized West". But I am happy reading your piece of writing. Quite awesome to read. 3 Likes 1 Share |

fkdmods: Funny. Look at you lecturing a woman, probably old enough to be your mother, about what the woman really is or isn't! What's that got to do with anything especially about someone you don't know in real life?! I give up. Too many kids here. That's why I rarely post. 5 Likes |

davidif: That's not completely true, there are alternatives like Blind trusts. No savvy business person will want to divest their assets just for the sake of a temporal position. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/nov/17/trump-organization-blind-trust-business-holdings http://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/blindtrust.asp |

davidif: My point is that liquidation is not the only option open to them, they can choose to do so but they do NOT have to liquidate their assets. A blind trust is employed by a federal official to hold, administer and manage the private financial assets, investments and ownerships of the official, and his or her spouse and dependant children, as a method of conflict of interest avoidance. |

Bayo Ogunlesi owns Gatwick Airport in the UK... the second busiest aiport in the UK. some were saying he ought to have been appointed minister of finance...thats a soft joke! He would have rejected that position outrightly. This man is not in the class of Oby or NOA. He's a staunch business man |

But little do they know, Yorubas are not limited to South West but from Bidda down to Kwara, Kogi, Edo and Delta states as well as the rest of South West within Nigeria. We are so blessed and still marching forward. Yoruba are wiser and stronger than ever before in Nigeria. I STAND WITH YOU! I STANDWITHYORUBA |
