Psalm 83:1-5
Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:

You cannot understand me if you do not read me compositely. Only the followers of Jesus, got to understand me very well; I have chosen that path too. If you do not follow me, you cannot understand me because I spread my comments, on my threads and on other threads I comment on, this is the pattern of the Bible too; here a little, there a little.

So if you read one isolated comment and draw your conclusions or inferences or impressions about me on this one comment, then you are on your own.

January 2019 lunar eclipse: How to watch the super blood wolf moon eclipse
Starting on Sunday, Jan. 20, a total lunar eclipse, or blood moon, that coincides with a supermoon will be visible over the entire United States.

https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/nation-world/january-2019-lunar-eclipse-how-to-watch-the-super-blood-wolf-moon-eclipse/507-624837225

Technically, it could be called a super blood wolf moon eclipse.

Starting on Jan. 20, a total lunar eclipse, or blood moon, that coincides with a supermoon, will be visible throughout the U.S. The event starts late in the evening on Jan. 20, and finishes during the wee hours of Jan. 21.

The next total lunar eclipse happens on May 26, 2021. Brian Murphy, director of the Holcomb Observatory & Planetarium and Butler University professor, said there's typically two lunar eclipses each year, with total lunar eclipses about every two years.

"They aren't technically rare," he said. "In clear weather, half the earth can see it."
What's going on?

The main event is the total lunar eclipse, which happens when the moon passes fully into the shadow of Earth. Secondly, it's a supermoon, which is the time of month when the moon is closest to Earth in its orbit. Lastly, it's the first full moon of the year, also known as a wolf moon.
When is the super blood wolf moon eclipse?

Starting at 9:36 p.m. on Jan. 20, viewers will notice a "little notch is sort of taken out of the moon," Murphy said.

"The moon starts to enter into the earth's shadow in a portion called the umbra, when the sun is totally blocked out," he said. "Earth is moving from right to left through the shadow."

At 10:33 p.m., it moves into a partial eclipse, and starting at 11:41 p.m., the full eclipse begins, with a maximum eclipse at 12:12 a.m.

"You'll notice the stars are much more visible because the moon is less than 100th the amount of brightness," Murphy said.

The moon will appear to be a "reddish copper color," Murphy explained, hence the name blood moon. Some sunlight reaches the earth's atmosphere, which envelops the moon and gives it the rich color. The full eclipse ends at 12:43 a.m.
How to watch the lunar eclipse

The best condition to view the total lunar eclipse is a clear sky. Even some clouds would be okay, Murphy said.

"I'm hoping have at least broken clouds," he said. "When we get into December and January, it tends to be cloudy 40 or 60 percent of the time."

Murphy recommends people just go to their own backyards to view the event, and try to get away from any street lights, especially blue light. He hasn't confirmed yet if the observatory will be open for the event.

Between 11:40 p.m. and 12:43 a.m. is when the reddish orange color will be most visible, Murphy said.
What do I need to see the eclipse?

There's no need for special equipment, and it is spectacular entirely on its own, Murphy said.

If you're looking to snap any photos of the blood moon, you might have some lucky shooting a picture through binoculars or a telescope. Murphy said it's also a great time to view stars, as they will be brighter and clearer.

Details: Begins at 9:36 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20. Ends 2:48 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21.

Super Wolf Blood Moon: Why the upcoming lunar eclipse is special

The New Year may have just started, but it is already bringing with it a rare celestial event nicknamed the “Super Blood Wolf Moon.”

The super blood wolf moon, a total lunar eclipse, will take place on Sunday, January 20 into January 21 and will be visible to people around the world, but especially those in North America.

This is what you need to know:

What is the Super Blood Wolf Moon and when is it?

During the eclipse, the full moon will appear to glow red - the result of sunlight scattered and refracted around Earth, according to Space.com.

In North America, the eclipse will begin at 9.36pm ET on January 20 but will likely not be visible until 11.41pm ET and will end at 12.43am ET on January 21.

It will be the first total lunar eclipse visible entirely in the US since 2010.

An eclipse occurs when the moon travels through Earth’s shadow, and the sun, moon and Earth line up perfectly. The super blood wolf moon is a lunar eclipse that will last 62 minutes in totality.

How to Watch the January 2019 Lunar Eclipse

The shadow of the Earth will eclipse the moon and turn it blood red on January 21, 2019.

https://www.popularmechanics.com/space/moon-mars/a23745748/next-lunar-eclipse-january-2019/

Ready for another chance to ooh and aah at the sky? A total lunar eclipse is coming to the United States on Monday, January 21, 2019. For just over an hour, the moon will turn an eerie red.

This total lunar eclipse (nicknamed the "Super Wolf Blood Moon"wink should be visible everywhere in the U.S. but Hawaii, and people there should see a pretty good partial eclipse. Here’s what you need to know:
How Does a Lunar Eclipse Work?

The Great American Eclipse so many people witnessed in August 2017 was a total solar eclipse, in which the moon moves between the Earth and the sun in such a way as to block out our star. The upcoming event on Jan. 21, 2019 is a total lunar eclipse. In this case, the Earth will come between the sun and the moon in just the right way so that the shadow of our planet is cast entirely across the moon.

The moon has to be in just the right place in its orbit for this to happen—essentially in opposition.
Where Will It Be Visible?

All of North America, all of South America, and a few areas of Western Europe and Africa will be able to see a total eclipse. The European arc essentially goes up through Portugal and Spain, through a small part of France, encompasses all of the United Kingdom, and then continues on into the Scandinavian countries. Mauritania and Western Sahara will be the only African countries to see the total eclipse.

Still, all of Africa save for Madagascar will see at least a partial eclipse, and areas from the Middle East to about half of Afghanistan should see something. Much of Asia will miss out because the event will take place during daylight hours there when the moon is not visible.
When Does It Start?

You’ll want to stay up late and be patient. The wind-up to the eclipse is long, starting at about 10:36 p.m. Eastern on January 20 when the first hints of the eclipse will start to hit the moon. This is called the penumbral eclipse, and involves a slight darkening of the moon’s surface in preparation for the rest of the total eclipse. The first portion of the partial eclipse phase will begin less than an hour later, at 11:33 p.m. The total eclipse phase will begin at 12:41 a.m. on January 21.

The moon will be in a total eclipse for a little more than an hour, turning an orange-red thanks to the shadow cast by Earth. It will reach “maximum eclipse” at 1:12 a.m. Eastern before ending at 1:43 a.m. It will then enter another partial phase, lasting until 2:50 a.m. If you’re still up at this point, the last shadows will leave the moon at 3:48 a.m.

So Why Is It Red?

The light coming through Earth is heavily filtered, with our atmosphere taking much of the brunt of filtering the light hitting the day side. When it gets to the thickest parts of the atmosphere, only the red band is “long” enough to make it through, with yellow and blue absorbing into the atmosphere. This effect gives the moon its reddish tint during an eclipse.
What Do I Need to See It?

Staring at the moon is not like staring at the sun. You can … actually do it. For a simple explanation why, here’s Astronomy Magazine’s senior editor Michael Bakich:

“The moon is always safe to look at because, just like objects here on Earth, we see it because it reflects sunlight. During an eclipse, the moon is in Earth’s shadow, so there’s even less light coming from it. So, yes, it's perfectly safe.”

You can even bust out the binoculars or telescope for a lunar eclipse, though you may want a telescope filter for the brighter eclipse areas. Don’t worry—they’re less like putting welding glass over your telescope and more like a pair of sunglasses, moderately dimming some of the light.
Is the Eclipse Different From a Blood Moon?

Not really, but that term, as metal as it sounds, comes from astrologers and conspiracy theorists. Everyone uses the term, but it doesn’t mean anything scientifically.

The total lunar eclipse of January 20-21

https://earthsky.org/?p=295245

On January 20-21, we’ll have the first full moon of 2019, and the first lunar eclipse of 2019 (and this is an eclipse-heavy year, with three solar and two lunar eclipses). It can be viewed from North and South America, Greenland, Iceland, Europe, northern and western Africa, plus the Arctic region of the globe. More details about viewing below.

The eclipse will happen on the night of the year’s first of three straight full supermoons, meaning the moon will be nearly at its closest to Earth for this January, as the eclipse takes place.

Many are calling it a Blood Moon eclipse. Why? We’re not entirely sure, but you can read more about Blood Moons here.

Now here’s a single, sad last thing. This will be the last total lunar eclipse to grace Earth’s sky until May 26, 2021.

How to see the last 'super blood wolf moon' lunar eclipse for 18 years

https://www.cnet.com/how-to/2019-lunar-eclipse-how-to-see-the-super-blood-wolf-moon-sunday/

Everything you need to know about the rare conjunction of celestial events coming up this weekend.

There's going to be a legitimately good reason to howl at the moon on the evening of Sunday, Jan. 20 (or the early morning of Monday, Jan. 21 in Europe). Don't worry, you're not going to grow fur or claws. It's just some rare cosmic geometry that will turn a big ol' full moon a spooky shade of crimson for a spell.

Three elements make a "super blood wolf moon," but the part that makes it so rare it happens only three times this century is the least impressive. A "wolf moon" is simply the folk name for a moon that happens in the month of January.

Take that away and you've got a super blood moon, which is a total lunar eclipse that happens at "perigee syzygy." I know some people mistrust words like syzygy without any proper vowels, so let's stick with supermoon from here on.

A total lunar eclipse is referred to as a blood moon because when the sun, Earth and moon all line up briefly, the shadow of the Earth casts a reddish shadow on its lone natural satellite. Then there's the supermoon part, meaning the moon is at the point in its orbit where it's just a little bit closer to us, making it seem 10 to 15 percent larger in the sky.

We get two to five supermoons every year, while the gap between blood moons is anywhere from six months to about three years. You can also plan on around one to five super blood moons each decade, but they only fall in January three times this century (the third and final 21st-century super blood wolf moon barely qualifies, since it falls at the very end of the month on Jan. 31, 2037).

The entirety of the total lunar eclipse on Sunday night will be visible from all of North and South America, save for the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. West Africa and the western half of Europe will also get to take in most of the show.

Starting at around 7:34 p.m. PT or 10:34 p.m. ET Sunday, a partial eclipse will begin, with the full eclipse starting a little over an hour later. You can safely look at the blood moon from anywhere skies are clear enough, unlike solar eclipses that require special eye protection in most cases. The main event lasts about an hour.

If skies don't cooperate or you can't be bothered to step outside for some reason to see it for yourself, you can catch the livestream from the Virtual Telescope Project in Rome below. There's also a handful of other eclipses still to come in 2019.

Super Blood Wolf Moon: Your essential guide to rare lunar event

Stargazers are in for an epic astronomical treat this weekend, when three cosmic elements merge to create a ‘super blood wolf moon’, something that’s only going to happen three times this century.

Why all these names

A ‘wolf moon’ is the name given for a full moon that happens in January, and derives from early Native American tribes noting when wolves would allegedly howl at the moon, according to the Farmer's Almanac. A total lunar eclipse is called a ‘blood moon’, and gets its name from the tint it gets when the Earth and moon briefly line up, casting a shadow over the lunar surface.

It’s considered a ‘supermoon’ because the moon will reach its closest orbital point to Earth, making it appear 10 to 15 percent bigger than usual...

Where to watch

People in North and South America should have a particularly spectacular view of the celestial proceedings, but they will also be visible from Greenland, Iceland, parts of western Europe and parts of Western Africa. Meanwhile, eastern Europe, eastern Africa and a lucky few on the fringe of east Asia will be able to see a partial lunar eclipse.

Super Blood Wolf Moon: Date, Time, All You Need To Know

https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/super-blood-wolf-moon-date-time-all-you-need-to-know-1980167

NEW DELHI:

Super Blood Wolf Moon will be seen on January 20 and 21. This includes a total lunar eclipse, super blood moon and a "Wolf Moon". A "super moon" occurs when the moon is especially close to earth, while a "wolf moon" is the traditional name for the full moon of January, when the howling of wolves was a sound that helped define winter. In a total lunar eclipse, the moon never goes completely dark. Rather, it takes on a reddish glow from refracted light as the heavenly bodies move into position - hence the "blood moon" moniker. The more particulate or pollution in the atmosphere, the redder the moon appears.

Super Blood Wolf Moon: Where To See

According to National Geographic report, sky-watchers across the entire Western Hemisphere will be able to see all or part of the eclipse. North America, Central America, and South America will get to see all the phases of Super Blood Wolf Moon. Australia and Asia, including India, will miss the eclipse.

Super Blood Wolf Moon: Timings

The total lunar eclipse will start at 11:41 pm ET on January 20, which is around 10:11 am on January 21 (Monday) in India. This phenomenon will last for 62 minutes.

The entire event, which includes total as well as partial lunar eclipse will reportedly last for three and a half hours.

Appearance of Super Blood Wolf Moon:

In the first phase, no real difference will appear in the moon.
In the second phase, a partial eclipse will appear.
About 90 minutes later, it will reach totality. The moon will give a reddish glow.
The process then goes in reverse.

Super blood wolf moon: rare total lunar eclipse to grace northern hemisphere skies

https://www.theguardian.com/science/2019/jan/20/super-blood-wolf-moon-rare-total-lunar-eclipse-to-grace-northern-hemisphere-skies

Last blood moon for two years will combine with a supermoon to create unusual celestial phenomenon

An unusual set of circumstances will combine in the early hours of Monday morning in the skies above the northern hemisphere, resulting in a phenomenon called a super blood wolf moon.

A total lunar eclipse will give an apparent reddish colour to the lunar surface – known as a blood moon. At the same time, the moon will be slighty closer to Earth than normal and appear slightly bigger and brighter than usual – a phenomenon called a supermoon.

In January, the full moon is also sometimes known as the wolf moon or great spirit moon – hence the super blood wolf moon.

Astronomers and skygazers are particularly interested in this year’s blood moon, as it is the last of its kind for two years and lasts for more than an hour.

“We’re going into this unusual lull in total lunar eclipses over the next couple of years,” said Tom Kerss, an astronomer from the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

2018's blood moon seen around the world – in pictures

“So this is a really good one to catch as it’s going to be a long time before you catch another one like this – we will have other lunar eclipses, we just won’t have anything quite as spectacular until May 2021.”

Weather permitting, the total lunar eclipse should be visible from the UK for a reasonable amount of time.

If the skies are clear, the entire eclipse will also be visible in North and South America, as well as Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Portugal and the French and Spanish coasts. The rest of Europe, as well as Africa, will have partial viewing before the moon sets. Asia, Australia and New Zealand will miss out.

The eclipse is set to begin at 2.36am in the UK on Monday 21 January, though observers are unlikely to see anything until much later in the morning.

The best time to catch the maximum eclipse is around 5.12am, when the moon will be completely submerged within the Earth’s shadow.

“The moon will be red between about 4.40am and about 6.45am, so it’s actually more than an hour that you have to observe this blood moon phenomenon where the moon is totally eclipsed,” Kerss said.

The Royal Museums Greenwich will also host a Facebook Live event from 4am, where viewers can watch as events unfold.

A blood moon last occurred in July 2018, though clouds largely obscured the celestial phenomenon in the UK.

This will be the first of three supermoons this year. The upcoming supermoon will be about 357,300km away. The 19 February supermoon will be a bit closer and one in March will be the farthest.

NEWSSuper Blood Wolf Moon 2019: Best times to see only total lunar eclipse of the year, livestream

A lunar eclipse will bring a blood moon overnight on Jan. 20.

The only total lunar eclipse of the year will make its appearance Sunday night and, even if the weather isn’t cooperating where you live, you can watch it online.

A Super Blood Wolf Moon will appear overnight on Jan. 20 to 21 and will be visible to the entirety of North and South America. The eclipse is referred to as a “super blood moon” – “super” because the moon will be closest to the Earth in its orbit during the full moon and “blood” because the total lunar eclipse will give the moon a reddish hue. It takes the wolf name from Native American traditions.

Best time to watch eclipse

Here’s a timeline for the lunar eclipse:

9:36 p.m. EST (8:36 p.m. CST) - Moon starts to dim slightly for the next 57 minutes as it moves deeper into the shadow.

10:33 p.m. EST (9:33 p.m. CST) - The edge of the moon will be in the inner part of the Earth’s shadow.

11:41 p.m. EST (10:41 p.m. CST) - Moon will be completely in the shadow, marking the beginning of the total lunar eclipse.

12:12 a.m. EST (11:12 p.m. CST) – Moment of the greatest eclipse.

12:43 a.m. EST (11:43 p.m. CST) - The edge of the moon will be exiting the inner shadow and moving into the outer shadow, marking the end of the total lunar eclipse.

1:50 a.m. EST (12:50 a.m. CST) - The moon will be completely outside the inner shadow

2:48 a.m. EST (1:48 a.m. CST) – Eclipse officially over

What if it’s cloudy?

If clouds are blocking your view of the eclipse, don’t worry. There are livestream options to see the celestial show, including the Time and Date live stream. You can also watch live below Sunday starting at 10 p.m. EST (9 p.m. CST).

Venus-Jupiter conjunction on January 22

Before sunrise on January 22, 2019, look eastward or in the general direction of sunrise to see the conjunction of the planets Venus and Jupiter in the predawn/dawn sky. At conjunction, these two brilliant worlds shine north and south of one another on the sky’s dome, with Jupiter passing 2.5 degrees south of Venus. You simply can’t miss these two brilliant beauties, because Venus and Jupiter rank as the third-brightest and fourth-brightest celestial bodies, respectively, after the sun and moon.

EarthSky lunar calendars are cool! They make great gifts. Order now. Going fast!

Of course, Venus and Jupiter are not actually close together in space. They just happen to reside along the same line of sight at conjunction. The king planet Jupiter is about 7.5 times Venus’ distance from Earth. Click here if you’d like to know the present distances of the solar system planets from the Earth and sun in astronomical units.

After the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter on January 22, 2019, watch for Jupiter to climb upward and for Venus to sink downward in the morning sky. You simply can’t mistake Venus for Jupiter, or vice versa, because Venus is by far the brighter of these two brilliant worlds.

Conjunctions of Venus and Jupiter are quite stunning because these two worlds reign as the two most brilliant starlike points of light in the heavens. Generally, a conjunction of Venus and Jupiter happens once a year. But this year, in 2019, we actually have two of them. Venus and Jupiter will meet up for another fine conjunction in the evening sky on November 24, 2019.

Not all Venus-Jupiter conjunctions are equal, however. The upcoming morning conjunction on January 22, 2019, is especially favorable because Venus is about as far as it can get from the rising sun (46 degrees west of the sun). By way of example, we allude to the Venus-Jupiter conjunction on August 21, 2003, which happened only one degree away from the sun, so that Venus-Jupiter conjunction in 2003 was totally lost in the sun’s glare.

Amazingly enough, it looks as though very similar Venus-Jupiter conjunctions recur in periods of about 24 years plus one week. Looking backward and forward, we find this series of Venus/Jupiter conjunctions taking place on nearly the same spot upon the zodiac (near the star Antares), with Jupiter passing to the south of Venus. What’s more, each one of these Venus/Jupiter conjunctions on January 14, 1995; January 22, 2019 and January 29, 2043, finds Venus near its greatest elongation from the rising sun.

Bottom line: Enjoy the Venus-Jupiter conjunction in the predawn/dawn sky on January 22, 2019, as these two bright worlds meet each other at a near-maximum elongation from the sun.

Jupiter Meets Venus at Dawn in a Close Conjunction

https://www.universetoday.com/141178/jupiter-meets-venus-at-dawn-in-a-close-conjunction/

You might be asking yourself: Where have all the planets gone?

With Mars past its epic opposition in 2018 and still lingering in the evening sky, all other naked eye planets are loitering in the early dawn for January 2019. Sure, it’s cold outside this month for folks up north, but January dawn skies offer early risers an amazing view, as Jupiter closes in on brilliant Venus for a close conjunction on the morning of January 22nd.

The conjunction: This month’s conjunction is one of the wider groupings for the pair for this decade: at their closest, Venus passes 144.4 arcminutes (almost two and half degrees, or the span of five Full Moons) from Jupiter at ~12:00 Universal Time (UT) on the 22nd. These sorts of passages of the two brightest planets in the sky happen roughly once a year… except for 2019, which features two, including a closer 84.3 arcminute pass on November 24th. That’s the final one for this decade, as 2020 (like 2018) is devoid of close Jupiter-Venus conjunctions.

The Solar eclipse or darkening of the sun was visible over America, which is the heaven of our world This is why it is called God's own country, so anywhere God lives is heaven. This Lunar eclipse or the blood moon will also be visible all over America

https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2019/1/16/18167039/lunar-eclipse-2019-blood-moon-supermoon

Late at night between Sunday, January 20 and Monday, January 21, the moon will pass into the shadow cast by Earth. Anyone in North and South America — as well as portions of Northern Europe and the northwest coast of Africa — will be able to see the full eclipse, which will entirely cover the moon for an hour and two minutes.

What’s more, the moon will be near its closest approach to Earth, making it a “supermoon,” meaning it will appear very slightly larger in the sky. It will also be the last total lunar eclipseuntil May 2021. So check it out!

A relatively rare celestial treat may be visible this weekend to Washington state residents, and anyone else on the dark side of the Earth with a clear sky. But it isn’t the so-called “super blood wolf moon,” according to one local astronomer.

https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/get-ready-for-the-full-blood-super-wolf-moon-or-not/

Yes, there will be a full moon on Jan. 20, according to Woody Sullivan, University of Washington astronomer and professor emeritus. And yes, he said, the first full moon of the year was reportedly called a “wolf moon” by at least one Native American tribe. In addition, the moon will be slightly closer to Earth than usual, making it appear larger.

But none of that is what makes it special.

Sullivan, who objects to the recent trend of naming ordinary full moons and celestial events with words like “super” and “blood,” said there is, however, a legitimately interesting lunar event coming: a total eclipse.

We can see one about every two years on average, Sullivan said.

“This naming of every moon caught on in the last 10 years and it’s driving me crazy,” he said, “but a total lunar eclipse is actually very interesting to see.”

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, moon and Earth line up, with the Earth passing between the sun and the moon. The eclipse will begin Sunday at 6:36 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, reach totality between 8:41 and 9:44 p.m. and be over by 11:48 p.m.

For those who can’t get outside or have their view blocked by clouds, the website Time and Date AS also has what Sullivan calls a surprisingly accurate and interesting simulator of what the eclipse will look like, as well as a livestream feed to watch the eclipse in real time.

While binoculars are nice, people can enjoy watching the lunar eclipse with the naked eye, and — unlike during a solar eclipse — no additional protection is needed, Sullivan said.

As the eclipse starts, viewers will see Earth’s shadow creep across the moon. As it takes over, the moon will go dark, though the edges will be fuzzy.
