*chapter 10*
"Where is Violet? I haven't seen her since this evening." Mary asked James as they all relaxed in the family room after the party broke up. "I haven't seen her too, she should be in the room sleeping. I'm off to see some friends I'll see you guys in the morning." James replied and got up from where he sat taking one of the car keys that sat on the table and went out of the room. "What was that?" Natalia asked no one in particular. "I don't know but I intend to find out." Mary answered and stood up to go and check on Violet, she got to their room and knocked but since there wasn't no answer, she opened the door. She saw Violet sprawled on the bed asleep and smiled dearly then she walked over to sit on the bed clearing Violet's hair from her eye then she frowned as she saw that Violet's face had signs that she had cried even the mascara she used had watched on her face. Mary wondered why Violet would be crying and her gaze fell to the luggages packed beside the wardrobe, 'James is behind all this' was what kept running through her mind. She left the room and went down to join the others still with a frown on her face. "Violet is asleep but it looks like she cried herself to sleep." Mary wondered aloud making all eyes turn on her sharply. "Cried herself to sleep? But she was perfectly doing fine today." Clara asked in confusion. "I saw her tear-stained face and she had even packed her bags." Mary cried out to them. "Packed her bag? Is she going back to London? I can't believe this." Natalia said fervently holding on to her husband who pulled her closer to him and said "I warned James today not to try and hurt Violet. He need to explain himself." Mary nodded at what Giovani said while Kelvin walked up to her "why don't we all go to bed, James would meet us here waiting for him in the morning and he's going to explain why he made that girl cry." He promised and led Mary up with the others behind them holding each of their spouse tightly.
Violet woke up to a pounding headache and winced in pain as she tried to sit up on the bed. She got out of bed reluctantly and slowly went into the bathroom dragging her feet. "I should have expected this would happen sooner or later." She said to herself later as she brushed her hair gloomily and thought about what she would say to the Kevlars when she goes down with her luggages, she decided to take any heat as it comes and readied herelf to go downstairs. Violet was shocked to see the Kevlars except James waiting up for her at the living room as she moved her things towards the foyer. "Um, hi guys." She greeted nervously as she saw their long and pulled faces. "So you're going to go without saying goodbye?" Natalia asked Violet with anger and hurt showing on her face which made Violet choke down a cry that was bubbling inside of her. "I'm sorry Natalia, I didn't want any of you to find out till after I was gone, it's easier that way wihout me hurting all of you." Violet answered in shaky voice and looked at all of them with pleading eyes. "Aren't you going to tell us the reason for your depature?" Mary asked folding her arms. "I-I, it's complicated. You people won't like me anymore if I tell you the truth." Violet answered nervously twisting the tail of her shirt. "I think we should all take a seat and pour ourselves some drinks." Kelvin suggested and they all went to seat down with the men getting the drinks for the women. After everybody was seated and holding on to each of their glasses, Violet nervously narrated the arrangement she had with James and everything that came with it. After she finished, Mary stood and walked around swirling her drinking with her head deep in thoughts of what she just heard. "So, you're saying you're not James' Fiancee? That it was a fake engagement?" Mary asked Violet who nodded her head in assent. "He-he was doing it for you. He didn't want to hurt you by not bringing a woman after he had told you he was proposing to his girlfriend." Violet inputed quickly. "I don't get it. All this time, was it all an act?" Clara asked in confusion. "No, it wasn't. The Violet that was here was real, I didn't act anything. I was who I was, I still am but just with a fake ring on my finger which isn't there again anyways." Violet answered her and gulped the red wine that was in her hand. "What really caused the rift between you two?" Valeria asked. "I don't really know too. All I know was that he followed me to the kitchen yesterday when I was getting ice and he told me to stop getting closer to all of you that I'm not his real woman and I should know my place and he hurt me while saying that so I broke our agreement and gave him his ring telling him I'm going to my own family too." Violet gulped her drink more as she continued talking. "I didn't know I'll attach myself so much to you guys. You all are so incredible and loving that it made me feel like I hadn't leave my family at all and it really hurts me to let you guys go, I was leaving quietly so as not to look into all your faces and see the hate there because of me decieving you guys. I'm so so sorry for all this." She finished talking and finished her drink hastily trying to pour more in her glass from the wine bottle that sat on the table. "I like you, we all like you. Hearing this wouldn't diminish the like we have for you. You're already part of the Kevlar bunch wether you like it or not. As for the fake engagement part, James is the one to blame he pushed you into it." Mary said to Violet with the rest of the bunch agreeing to what she said. ""Yes, you're a Kevlar now even though you're british but not to worry your accent is a plus for us, it's part of why I like you." Clara said with excitment. "You're also a Ricci now, we Riccis are fond of you especially mother." Giovani said smiling at Violet who sat frozen and wide-eyed as she listen to what they were saying. "Si, he's right Violet. You're now a Ricci too. I'll love to have you come visit us in Italy" Valeria said pleased with the decision. "Oh and you're not going anywhere soon so those bags are going back in." Kelvin inputed with Violet looking at them tears streaming down her eyes. "I'm grateful, thank you, all of you for having my back. I'm so glad to be part of this wonderful family and Valeria, I'll come see you in Italy and stay with you till you get tired of me. I-I need to stop crying right?" Violet said laughing and cleaning away her tears with the handkerchief handed to her. Mary went to her and brought her up to give her a deep hug with everybody getting up to give her the same. The women led her up to her room and stayed with her for a while with Valeria bringing up James issue. "So what are you going to do about James?" She asked. "I don't want to have anything to do with him again. Mary please can you put me in another room? This room keeps reminding me of him." Violet stated and pleaded with Mary to change her room. "I don't think you want to forget about him. You have feelings for him right? You're in love with him." Natalia pointed out making Violet to shake her head violently in disagreement. "You're wrong, I'm not in love with him. Maybe I liked him before but I don't anymore." Violet said to Natalia and tried to believe it herself. "I don't think it's just only like. I've seen the way you kiss each other and the way you look at each other when you think no one is watching and the spark is there." Clara remarked. "No! I don't love him. He doesn't care much for me anyway so let's just leave it at that." Violet stated and tried to not think about it. They all sighed in defeat and heeded her request by not mentioning it so they changed the subject and talked about Valeria's art exhibition which was going to take place tomorrow.
James arrived at the house in the afternoon and was waylaid by his mother in the foyer. "Don't you dare take a step further, James Timothy Kevlar." Mary said threatingly at James who stopped and looked at his mother in surprise. "What's all this about mother? Is it because I've been out all night and this morning?" He asked in confusion. "Take a look at yourself, you look like you slept in your clothes which smells of alcohol and your face is swelled up like you were in a bar fight." She said in a strong voice making James to take a step back. "I'm sorry mother, I got carried away. I didn't mean to get bashed up." He pleaded. "That aside, why did you lie to me about your engagement?" James mother asked which brought James head up quickly and sharply. "I see that Violet as told you the truth. I'm sorry mum, I didn't want to hurt you I just wanted to make you happy and to stop you from nagging me about not having a wife." He said and pleaded to Mary running his hands through his hair nervously. "So you think decieving me was the right thing to do? Decieving everybody?" She asked hotly making him to squirm. "I'm sorry mother." He pleaded with his heads down in shame. "Fortunately for us and unfortunately for you, we all love Violet and she's part of this family now and you don't have a say on it." Mary revealed making James to frown in surprise. "You hurt her James. You made her cry." Giovani added as he and Alan walked towards them. "I did? I didn't mean to. I'll go and apologize right now if that's all what you guys want." James voiced out in frustration. "Don't go near her James, she doesn't want to see you." Alan stated to James who paced around restlessly. "She's not going anywhere James, she's staying here after new year for a while, decided that she needed a Vacation." Mary made it known to James and walked away. James stormed off to his room and stuffed his clothes into his bags with his passport and wallet. He picked up his bag and went down to look for his parents then went up to them as she sighted them in the greenhouse. "I've decided to go back to London early, I'm sorry for everything Mom, please tell Violet that I didn't mean to hurt her. I'll call you guys." He said and hugged his mother with his father giving him a pat on th back. "Be safe, son" his father said and James turned to go. "Kelvin, do you think James and Violet would stop being hard-headed and realise that they love each other?" Mary asked her husband as she settled her head on his chest. "I'm sure they'll figure it out. We aren't going to interfere, let them wallow in their anger a little bit. After they've calmed down both of them would come to their senses." Kelvin affirmed stroking her hair tenderly. "I hope so" Mary sighed and breathed in the heady scent of the flowers.

*chapter 11*
"I think this one's going to look better on you." Clara suggested as she and Violet looked over some hanged clothes in a boutique. "Really? You think so?" Violet asked as she checked out the blue sundress which Clara held out. "Yeah, come on let's go check out the shoes." Clara said giving the sales rep the dress to pack with the others they've chosen. "These past weeks had been helpful for me, I want to thank you and others for having my back." Violet made it known to Clara as they sit in a coffee shop having lunch after their shopping spree. Violet thought back to the past two weeks after her controversy with James and her attempt to leave, she had been cared for and protected for by the Kevlars. She had went to Valeria's art exhibition marvelling at the breathe-taking paintings and mingled with socialites she wouldn't even think of dreaming about. The new year celebration too was fun and it was with a painful heart to see the Riccis go back to Italy the second day of the new year with her promising to come visit soon. "I'm thrilled to have you here, I loved taking you out for sight-seeing." Clara expressed, jarring Violet out of her thoughts with both of them smiling dearly at each other.
"I want those files back before the end of the day so get it fixed." James lashed out at his secretary Brenda handing her back the file she brought in some hours ago and brought down his head back to the files that was on his table. Brenda got out of her boss's office quickly wondering and praying when his anger would fade out, she had been treading on soft grounds ever since work started back two weeks ago trying not to be on the receiving end of her boss's anger. "I hope he comes back to his normal self soon before I start going crazy" she said to herself and quickly went back to correct the mistakes on the file. James dropped his pen as soon as his secretary took off like a scared rabbit running his hands through his hair in frustration as he try to get his act back together. He had been behaving like a wounded bear since he left for London growling and lashing out at his employees making them watch their steps around him which isn't fair. He sighed deeply and stood up walking over to the window to look out of the glass. He smiled a little as he remembered when he saw Violet's sister Lizzy at Hyde park with a friend of hers and asked about Violet, he had got to know that Violet was fine and having fun with friends back in America and he saw some pictures Violet had sent to Lizzy and realized that she was really happy which surprisingly gave him some peace of mind when he saw it. Violet had been on his mind ever since he had left for London, he had been thinking about her laugh, her shiny red hair, her voice and most especially her soft body. He had gotten used to waking up with her beside him and when he sleeps now, his hands always search the other side for Violet. "I need some air." James said to himself and went to pick up his suit jacket then he went out of his office "I'm off for the day, if you need me call me." He told his secretary and walked down to his private elevator. He got out of the elevator when it got to the lobby and nodded to his employees' greetings as he walked out of the building. He breathed in fresh air and went over to his sports car then he got in and started the engine, driving down the roads of London with speed. He drove around London for a while thinking then he hit the brake abruptly "I didn't use protection!" He said suddenly with his face pale and his eyes wide with many emotions coursing through his veins ranging from fear, relief and then happiness. He ignited the car to life and drove quickly to his apartment then he sat down and started thinking.
Violet couldn't stop thinking about James, she knew nobody was talking about him for her sake but she couldn't get him out of her mind. Her sister had called her to tell her James had asked about her when they ran into each other at Hyde park and she had also said she think James looks leaner and tired. She smiled as she looked around her surroundings taking note of the beautiful flowers that made the garden smell nice and comforting, she sat on the stone carved bench and touched the necklace that hasn't been removed from her neck ever since James placed it there the night of christmas eve. She laughed heartily as she realised that minute that she had fallen in love with James, maybe it had been there but she was just too stubborn to admit it and now she's going to embrace the feeling even though she knows James didn't love her. She tried not to think that he hadn't try and call the house ever since he had left and he didn't even pick up her calls when she tried calling him. She reached a conclusion and she's taking the first flight to London tomorrow to thrash it out with him and won't give up until he confess his feelings for her. With that in her mind, she stood abruptly and everywhere became dizzy but she shook her head to clear it up and walked in a haste to go in to tell Mary. She rushed into the kitchen where Mary was talking with the housekeeper and went straight to her. "Mary, I've got some exciting news for you." Violet said with excitement then frowned as everything around her started turning "Mary, why are you two?" Was the last thing she could say before her head hit the floor and everything became black. "Oh my God! What happened?" Mary shouted as she rushed over to Violet's side. Violet came through the fog feeling a wet substance on her forehead, "what happened?" She ask Mary as she tried to sit up from the cold tiles of the kitchen. "You fainted. Your face is pale, take drink some water." Mary fussed still hadn't gotten over the scare of seeing Violet sprawled on the floor. "Come, let's get you up, I think I know what's happening to you. I've called for the family doctor and he'll be here soon. " Mary affirmed and walked Violet up the stairs to her room. "You scared me, Violet. I-I oh God." Mary broke down and cried holding Violet to her bossom. "I'm so sorry I scared you, Mary." Violet pacified as Mary's cry went down. "I'll get over it soon." Mary answered smiling dearly at her. The doctor knocked and came in with Mary sitting beside Violet as the doctor examined her. "Congratulations, You're pregnant. You'll need to come by the hospital for us to run more tests." The doctor announced beaming up a smile at them. Mary and Violet looked at each other and laughed in happiness "I'm pregnant! " Violet said with surprise and happiness. "I'm so happy right now." Mary uttered hugging Violet deeply.
James arrived at the mansion to run into the doctor who was about to come out of the house then a dread thought came into his mind as he saw the doctor "how is she? Is she ok?" He asked in panic. The doctor smiled as he nodded in affirmation. "She's perfectly alright, oh and tell Violet not to stress herself too much." The doctor disclosed and went out of the door. James took the stairs in a haste and quickened his steps to Violet's room then he stopped at the entrance as he saw Violet with his mother hugging eachother with tears streaming down Violet' face. His heart broke and he rushed over to their sides. Violet gasped as she saw James and new tears started streaming down her face. Mary hugged her son and went out of the door to leave them to settle their differences. "I'm late aren't I? I'm so sorry baby." James said with sadness as he took a seat beside Viole taking her in his arms to hug heer which made Violet to cry harder and then brought out her head to clean her face. "Late for what?" Violet asked in confusion as she sniffed back her tears. "You lost the baby isn't it? I'm very sorry Violet and I promise to make it up to you." He spoke with fierce determination. "Lost the baby? No I didn't lose the baby." Violet said in confusion. "You didn't? Oh thank goodness!! I'm so happy right now." James exclaimed excitedly. "Wait, so you thought I was crying because I lost the pregnancy?" Violet asked in confusion. "Yes baby, when I saw the doctor coming out of the house with you crying so hard I thought that you had lost the pregnancy." He explained. "No silly, I was crying because I am happy carrying your baby. I just found out that I'm pregnant how did you know so quickly?" She asked as she settled her head on his chest. "I was driving and it came into my mind that we didn't use protection all those times that we made love. I was so happy that I've got a reason that would make you see me. I took the next flight here." James explained. "Funny, I was just thinking about coming to London to see you." Violet said with a smile on her face as she looked up to him. "I'm sorry Violet, for the pain and hurt I've put you through. I panicked, I didn't want to fall in love with you but I did, I was so stubborn to see the good thing that was given to me. I love you so much Violet. Please give us a chance. I promise I'll not hurt you ever again." James declared fiercely making Violet's eyes widen. "I was coming to London to tell you the same thing James. I love you. This past weeks without you has been difficult for me, I missed you so much it hurt. I Love you too James and I'm so happy so thrilled to have your baby grow inside of me. Violet confessed with tears almot running down her eyes. "Come here baby, don't cry. Violet will you please marry me? Honestly this time." James asked bringing out a clean cut sapphire ring with love and hope shining bright from his eyes. Violet laughed in happiness "yes! Yes! I'll be your wife. For real this time." She proclaimed and gasped as James inserted the shining ring to her fingers then he brought her close to him and they kissed each other with love. "We should go down and tell your mother the good news." Violet said hotly with her voice deep with desire as they kissed frantically. "We'll go later, right now I want my fiancee so bad." James replied kissing her more deeply pushing both of them to the bed.




This is the last chapter guys all it remains now is the epilogue
