7agaza: And of course most of us have experienced this painful situation. Nigeria is not really ready for a full blast cashless system because of too much inefficiency and error-proneness in the system. Why should I be compelled to bear the attendant pain and inconvenience? The other guy trying to defend the CBN and talking about mobile money is too academic and idealistic in his reasoning. The bottom line is that people must be able to access their cash at any given time because they are entitled to it. Any artificially induced liquidity squeeze is indicative of economic failure and that lends credence to the growing concerns about the havoc Buhari and his incompetent team have done and are doing to our economy. 11 Likes 1 Share |

hedonistic: I am sure you were referring to me and I didn't defend the CBN infact I blamed them. What I am saying is that the topic is wrong. Cash shortage is different from deliberately denying access to funds. That isbthr crux of the matter. To all of you saying I am too idealistic and Nigeria is not ready and all what not my answer to you is KENYA. Not America o, KENYA!!! If KENYA can do it, why can't we? Even Ivory Coast is leading Nigeria in Mobile money in West Africa and that is a shame. We are youths for crying out loud! All we do is complain instead of seeing opportunity in this problem. All we do is go to Facebook and Nairaland and complain Look, this mobile money thing has worked in countries with less infrastructure. Will there be issues? Yes! just like there are with atms and banks will employ a couple of youths to resolve at the bank end if the system can't resolve automatically. I am amazed people can't see how our society will be transformed but choose to see the issues. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Knowledge9000: **** Infact **** if u don't know how difficult it is in naija to withdraw on Fridays not to mention a holiday event like xmas. Even b4 dis govt came to power as far back as 2010 we know how long the ATM queues are on Fridays and how we pray we get to withdraw b4 the money inside finishes. Especially when it's after 4/5pm So why bring this govt into it? Must every problem people experience in life be blamed on the govt? Govt?? The blame rests solely on the CBN n banks. It's useless inciteful posts like yours that actually cause anarchy. Gibbons 7 Likes |

I hope those that broke the ATM have gotten cash out of the broken ATM now. There are alternate channels like mobile money, POS Internet banking, Short code banking for transactions. Everything mustn't be done with physical naira and kobo. I also agree that there should be more awareness on the usage of these other channels but going to destroy an ATM because it has stopped dispensing cash is a huge NO NO. Savages are too much in this country. 2 Likes |

loomer: Oga, that is the failure of CBN I am talking about. They need to introduce and enforce policies that would ensure e channels are available in a lot of places and I don't understand why people don't get that I am not advocating a total withdrawal from using cash. I am saying if people have options, there won't be queues, some will use cash and some e channels. Do you understand now? 4 Likes |
