Pastor Bakare gives scholarship to 101 students

THE Presiding Pastor of Latter Day Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has charged Nigerians to offer assistance to indigent but brilliant students in the country as a way of building a virile nation.

He said this in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Tuesday, at the award presentation of scholarship to 101 indigent students of Egba origin, saying that his future would have been mortgaged if not for scholarship offered him by an Egba group, led by the late business mogul, Chief Akin Olugbade.

The award was offered by Family Heritage Foundation (FHF), a non-governmental organisation, established by Pastor Bakare to help students from public secondary schools and tertiary institutions in the state.

He added that the financial assistance from the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election, the late Chief M. K. O Abiola, to support his gives pursuits had made him what he was.

Speaking at the ceremony, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Segun Awonusi, urged the beneficiaries to improve in their studies, so as to justify the investment in them by Pastor Bakare.

He said the state had witnessed support from the private sector in boosting its educational growth.
