U are smart dude. The physics and electronics dude is where my attraction was centered on. For several years now no one has been enrolled in my school into that department, even though we have it in my school. That course is a killer, so I heard.
imagine... I left physics for Electrical engineering

4. Don’t Only Work Hard But Work Smart And Avoid Cramming.

What is your advice to the current crop of undergraduates especially the fresh ones among them?

I implore them not just to work hard but work smart, prioritize understanding of every course over grades and avoid cramming at all cost even as you develop a habit of consistent studying. -

Ewetola Michael, Obafemi Awolowo University’s Mathematics Graduate (CGPA of 4.85 ).
...of course that is not possible in Science oriented fields, except u have a selected career in another field.

If i had apply this principle early enough i would have graduated with a first class. After a poor performance in my 400 level first semester result i decided to go & see one of my lecturers that graduated from same dept with a first class and he revealed a secret to me which i applied in my 400l second semester exams & i had 6A's out of seven courses i did. He only told me hw to answer questions. I regret nt going to him early.

Think of it this way;

How many people who shunned university turned out billionaires?
And dont just think about 3 or 4.
because that will be poor stats overall compared to the general population.

Excellence in Academics will at least almost guarantee you a place where u wont be liability for life.
Even if u dont get a job with first class.
U will still distinguish yourself when u enter other fields.

But if u shun school, u will keep waiting for luck
And Luck is not generous to everyone

But after the first classes all of them have what have they succeeded at??
I'm not questioning there academic prowess but where has it taking them tooo
Nobody is after ur result or academic prowess, rather what have u been been able to achieve.
What pains mi the most is most of these guys end up has lecturer while there counterparts go out and make it BIGG
If I lie go ask KOGBAGIDI a 3rd class graduate of LASU but u can't near cause he is balling now asin making is peers jealous..
It is people like you that ends up telling anybody that cares to listen that "we would meet in the labour market" after failing terribly in school and bagging a poor class of degree.

First class is not for everybody. It is only for very few selected and gifted individuals. These individuals make First Class Honuors with little stress. If you are good, you are good period. Ask yourself why is Usain Bolt, Lionel Messi and the likes considered unique in what they do? It is simply because they are good at what they do, which is a gift from above. The same thing applies to every First Class graduate. If you are not one of them, you can only end up with a sharp 2.1 with all your effort. No More, no less.

Its not true dat ur lecturers don't have time. Ur lecurers only have time for a very few outstanding students. Ur performance should speak for u. As a 100l student u may not need to see a lecturer for advice rather meet ur senior colleagues for advice. @Op, no example of those who augmented to make their first class You know what I mean. I always had this notion that one can't block or sort to make first class. Going from 3rd class or 2.2 to 2.1 might be a no brainer. But I was wrong... My seniors had once lamented to me how some of their mates results were tampered to move to first class. Even back in undergraduate days some pointed someone who's results were influenced and he's privy to it. Just last Nov I was in school and a lecturer told me he's angry with one of two first class graduates cos he blocked some causes. Imagine when you've seen results and on presentation you're seeing different things and the vetting is generally poor.

Okay, before you say I'm pained, I graduated with a CGPA of 4.68 and only number 1 of Op's survey fully applied to me.... The rest were a remix to different degrees. The bae I had feelings for was thousands of miles away. I love the library cos it's the best place to expand your mind but I wasn't going there to read to pass as I found out after 200L. In fact I didn't know anything about first class until after 100L and I had only 1B grin. But I read for Africa... Overall, I'm very playful (IDK Y) and my friends are amazed cos they see me so unserious but always on top.

of a truth, wonders shall never end in Nigeria. One thing I know for sure is that whatsoever a man soweth he shall reap. Any student who block his way to make a First Class is only prosponing the evil days. From the way you spoke, I am tempted to believe that you also blocked your way towards making a First Class Honours.

That's true because we are just preparing for our first exam but even if it varies or it might not work here at least let me give it a try, there's no crime trying something new, I might not do it the way u did yours. Just a little adjustment or adding something to it might make the difference, just help a brother please

Hello sir, u can as well council most of us fresher here, most times I get to the lecture hall finding no lecturer there and most times we are being told to form notes, and the stress going to library or going online to get materials and all that, it makes one get exhausted and don't even know where to start from. A piece of advise from you might be what we need on how to manage our timing in school and how to focus

I only implied that I didn't struggle to make a first class. Maybe I also blocked to make a distinction in my MSc under a very competitive atmosphere. You don't know me and why I had to take this pain. The Nigerian education system is generally wack and as such I don't give much fvck about graduating with a first class.
