Fremancipation:
GEJ administration tried so many times to Pass the PIB law which would have been a game changer for states and host communities producing oil but the Northern dominated senate and house of reps wouldn't allow that to happen.

If you want, continue blaming GEJ while the facts are in front of you and easy to look up.

IBB constructed roads in Minna and almost turns it to small heaven, buhari constructed 98 roads in the north when abacha made him his minister. OBJ refused to do Lagos-Ibadan express for 8 years he spent there? likewise GEJ? he should have used that opportunity to construct many bridges at least some governors constructed their states bridges.

Blame the states and how they spent their allocation from oil proceeds. Don't blame Jonathan or Buhari, blame the state! Bayelsa has money, but the politicians at state level consume it all and their youths only know how to be tribalistic while their elders scrape their hair.

Their militants live like Bill Gates but their communities are undeveloped. Do the maths, foolish youths.

State governments can't embark on bridges across creeks but the governors can loot up to $250 million and still remain heros to their followers.

If the oil producing states couldn't do anything with their 13% derivation and even with the creation of NDDC and the ministry of Niger delta affairs,I don't see them doing a thing even if they're given full resource control. The problem is,the impoverished Niger deltans are their own problems. They continue to sing praises of their corrupt leaders(oppressors) and fail to demand for accountability once they're given a loaf of bread. The story of Deprieye Alameisiya comes to mind, how they shamefully celebrated the return of a disgraced sitting governor, sang praises of and still defends the inadequacies of Jonathan, just because he's their brother and now,we're waiting to see how they'll welcome another of their own,James Ibori. If only these people would come together to hold their political leaders responsible for the poor conditions of their environments, the better it'll he for them

Nice...why not give them the resource control, it shouldn't be your business how anyone manages his/her resources..
at least we'll not cry to the fed. govt about our resources being shared as a national cake....

The main gold of the entire southern part of Nigeria ,from Lagos to Akwa ibom,is not the black Gold (oil) . The gold mine is tourism .
The picture ought to be showing ferries transporting tourists and not a rickety boat transporting refugee-like citizens .

Even Turkey in spite of all the terrorist attacks still attracts tourist

This is the bitter truth. The whites are willing to pay as high as 300$ for a boat cruise across the creeks. You are intelligent bro

I think the governors of these niger delta states are more at fault in this matter. The essence of federalism is that each region or state should develop itself with the resources accruing to it. It is all very glaring now that the federal allocations plus 13 percent oil derivation is more seem to have done more harm than good to the niger deltans

The Federalism book u read didn't explain to you how every region is supposed to fend for itself with what ever resources it has?

Why majority of us Nigerian are not happy with this crisis of infrastructure in Ijaw Land and by extention the whole of SS, it is yet to be seen while the indigenes are not using the right approach to engage the goverment and their local leaders, in particular the politicians.
My heart is in pain because of the plight of the common man on the street, but how do we explain the situation of people that choose to fight Obasanjo that orchestrated the arrest of Governor Alams and celebrate the man that has been accused of looting their common wealth? How do we help them fight the likes of Asari Dokubo that went to build a University in Republic of Benin instead of Ijaw land and yet pose as Ijaw leaders? Or how do we convince them that GEJ had all the opportunities in this world to listen to OBJ and build correct roads for Ijaw land, but choose to turn his back on the man that orchestrated his emergence as Vice President from Deputy Governor and eventually broke the ice that made him emerge as president?
What did OBJ get as reward, insult!, yes insult, "he want to control GEJ" etc. Now today the people that GEJ gave the contracts to build your roads are not from SE, SW, N or Middlebelt. Make them accountable for once and stop vandalising the pipeline that is not the best approach to negotiation in the 21st century. Get the Youths mobilized, let every contracts awarded be published in your local tabloids, be involved in quality monitoring. May be you need to know that as much as we share your pains, we are afraid to champion your cause, because experience shows you eventually turn against the people that attempted to fight for you in support of your leaders stealing the region dry.

Yes quite agreed with you likewhile uncle Jonathan also made the same mistake .. We know that former heads of state from the north fuckup but consider the high population of their ppl.. complicated their problems ...but for uncle Jonath ..no excuses for failure to help his ppl..his ppl are not upto 20% ot northerners . he has failed the future of current generation which can span upto 20 to 30 yrs to recover if their elite change their thinking and attitude ... Just two oil refineries in the region would have defined a future growth for the coming generation...

Let's stop having the mentality that whoever becomes president is president of his state and village. The president is president of the FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA and has nothing to do with the development of his state. They have reps, senators and a governor. Reason in a mature way and stop this president -is-all attitude.

The president has to look for national issues to solve and not to go and develop his state. That would be going against the constitution because that's not why he ran for president. The best he can do is to use his influence to attract FG institutions and projects to the state. (And that depends on the relationship between him and the state Gov). The state gov can even say no to those projects and president cannot start fighting him.

Those who like to insult Jonathan should remember that Jonathan was a true free minded Nigerian president who felt that Nigeria would be better if the majority of the northern population was educated and went ahead to build over 160 almajiri schools to turn their minds to become useful for Nigeria. Also established 12 new universities and located 9 in the North. He was looking at national priorities. He also invested heavily in railways as an alternative means of transports. Jonathan also ended fertilizer racketeering and
transformed the Agric sector.

Finally, any power supply you're seeing now is the efforts of GEJ and not anyone else. It hurts me how ungrateful Nigerians can be. That man really worked for Nigeria but the media in the hands of the Yorubas really maligned his image. Let God judge all those who keep speaking bad of him.

Again , let me state that whoever becomes Nigerias president ceases to be a property of his village and state but a father of the nation. Thank you.
you have spoken well, media in the hands of yoruba? bring me proof. However I can say it anywhere jonathan was incompetent in the handling of corruption and security. Though Buhari might be fighting a one sided war on corruption GEj looted this country. From dasuki, diezani, metuh, too obanikoro mention a few an average of 2bn dollars calculate bro

What have they done with the 13% they are getting already?! It's been embezzled by their leaders. All the Niger delta states should be at par with Lagos in terms of development, but they would rather elect corrupt leaders that would continue siphoning their commonwealth.

This has nothing to do with the federal government.
Re: How Southern Ijaw People Transport Their Luggage In Bayelsa (pics) by proudlyYoruba(m): 10:32am On Jan 07, 2017
Though this guys are cheated butShould the federal govt give every niger deltan a cruise. Or do they want to carry the baggage on a speed boat. Even with 13 percent oil allocation and federal allocation they should be able to build a bridge.
