According to reports from top sport journalist, the Referee exercise the right to end the halves whenever the time elapse including when a goal-bound ball is in play, however discretion which isn't fully recognized by the law is expected to be used by the referee involved.

It's normal for the referee to have allowed the goal-bound effort to continue because players and officials know that discretion which isn't part of the law but when used in situations like this, FA or LMC or FIFA won't frown at it.
You didn't get the point, free kick is not like corner kick.

You arranged the wall....( her discretion to stop the match didntt come into play)

Moved back to get a proper view... ( still no discretion to stop the match)

Signal for the free kick to be taken...( still no discretion)

The free kick was taken and was goal bound (Suddenly she realised she's got discretion)

Suddenly, you returned the whistle to your mouth and stop the Match

What is this one saying

Don't confuse incompetence with being compromised

Go and watch south African PSL and see poor officiating yet players don't attack refs or stage walk outs

In-btw why must our LMC call our league NPFL. Why can't they use the acronym PFL lols

NPFL no sweet for mouth

You can't stop a match like that when the ball is dead, the ball must be active.

Is that your own rule?

Afcon 2013 final, the refree didn't allow Enyama to play the goal kick before blowing the final whistle and asked Enyama to give him the match ball

Fifa World cup....can't remember the year, corner kick was given but not taken cos refree ended the match.

When you understand the meaning of "DEAD BALL",
you can come back for intelligent discussion. For now, you are not making sense.

A dead ball situation in football is when the ball is not in motion. It is created whenever a foul is committed. A free kick is awarded to the respective team to whom the foul has been given. There should be a minimum distance of five yards between the ball and the player. Corner kicks as well as goal kicks are considered dead ball situations. The possibility of scoring a goal increases as the distance between the goal and the ball decreases in a dead ball situation.

A ref can't stop a match while the bad is dead, I don't know why its so hard for you people to read this online or in the law book. The ball has to be in play before it can be stopped!

any ref that does otherwise is acting against the law of the game.

Next?

You are making a real fool of yourself here. But then, that is typical Nigerian short man syndrome. When you are so insecure and have such an inferiority complex that you cannot accept that you are wrong, even during an anonymous internet conversation. Because this is probably the only place in your life where you can talk back to anyone and pretend to be in the know.

What a shame.

In association football (soccer), the term "dead ball" refers to a situation when the ball is not in play, e.g. when play has not been restarted after the ball has gone out of bounds or a foul has been committed. It also applies before each kick-off, either at the start of each half or after a goal has been scored. In a dead ball situation, players can position the ball with their hands prior to restarting play. Furthermore, even though the ball is not in play, the referee may still issue cautions or ejections (yellow or red cards) for any incident that occurs off the ball. Fouls, on the other hand, can occur only while the ball is in play.

That's not a dead ball na Haba, if you do this, your opponent will tackle the ball away from you but in a dead ball situation, an opponent is not allowed to touch it until the team in the possession of the ball touches it.

a penalty is a dead ball situation right?

the referee blows for a penalty, the striker puts the ball in the spot, the keep makes himself scary to the kicker, the striker kicks the ball, straight....middle, the keeper misreads and jumps to the far left, the ball is about to enter the net, the referee blows for half time.

that's nice right?

PK is the only exception in the law of the games when it comes to dead ball. The outcome must be seen first before whistle is blown.

LMC authorities got it all wrong in their harsh judgment.
Inasmuch i dont support d action of FCIB that wont make me not to criticise d harsh judgment.
Why deducting 3points from them?
Simple let d match be replayed & let FIUB pay d damages they might have caused as a result of their action.
Also let d incompetent referee be suspended indefinitely.
Also before i forget LMC should try & found d identity of that policeman that assaulted FCIB team manager he need to be charge to court d video show it all.
