Lecturers under the aegis of Congress of University Academics (CONUA) have asked the Federal Government to reopen tertiary institutions in the country as its members are ready to resume work. The group, a breakaway faction of the Academic Staff Union of Universities made this call in a press statement on Wednesday after its National Executive Council meeting held in Abuja.



The statement, which was signed by CONUA’s National Coordinator, Niyi Sunmonu, was titled ‘Stop intimidation of CONUA

I understands that, the Federal Government is not against the preparations by some states to fully reopen schools but advised the states to be guided by the experiences of countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and France. 



Albeit, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have a different view pertaining to the reopening of schools. The striking lecturers yesterday kicked against such preparations, saying; "It's suicidal to reopen universities now!".




In the same light, the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (SSANU) has warned that except the federal government addresses its own issues, non teaching staff would also proceed on strike as soon as schools are reopened.

2. The new pass grade now in view of the above becomes “D” or 45% and above instead of the previous “E”. Therefore wherever the former pass mark of 40% or E is used herein should be read to mean 45% or D.




3. With effect from the 2013/2014 Academic session, Pass degree will be abolished in the University of Nigeria in accordance with the decision of the NUC. This means that students that was admitted from the year 2012 backward (i.e. 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, …, to when the world began) will not be affected by this new change.

Staff of University of Calabar Protest Against Non-payment of Allowance?

Members of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have staged a protest over the non-payment of their allowances.


John Edor, chairman of the institution’s chapter of the union, who spoke during the protest on Wednesday, said the allowances had been owed for more than five years.


John Edor, also said that some of the unpaid allowances include promotion arrears, fellowship and conference allowances and other entitlements.


“We are demanding full payment of our entitlements from the management of the University of Calabar,” he said.

How Federal Government Disallowed School Reopening in the Country?

The Federal Government has disclsoed that it is not convinced yet that schools should fully reopen in country. The economy and classroom need to remodelling?


The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, who disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja stated that; the FGN believes the opinion of experts that 15 per cent of transmission of the pandemic is from the school environment.


Hence, the reason FGN is advocating remodelline of classes especially in schools where there is no enough classroom for social distancing.

It’s not enough to just keep hearing the word, there’s a need to act what you hear. That’s the way to please God. That brings us to what faith is.

Like I explained more in my previous post titled What is Faith, faith is a fact behind the fact. A fact is a reality you can see. There’s no denying a fact. But what matters is what you do about the fact. Do you have a desire for the fact to change? Do something about it. That’s faith.


Some people read and read the word in order to have faith against an unpleasant situation in their lives, but they fail to act towards getting rid of the situation. It’s no sin to visit the hospital after you must have read the word to build your faith.


You do not continue to live a lifestyle you know is telling on your health and tend to ignore the health implications because you have faith. You cannot continue to act in such a way that produces negative results and expect something difference simply because you have faith. Whatever we do have consequences, right or wrong, positive or negative. If you desire a different outcome, start acting on the areas that influence the desired outcome.


Faith is going to the hospital when the sickness continues, after praying and exercising your faith for a reasonable number of days. You can have faith that God can use the doctors to heal you. You can have faith in the drugs prescribed to you by the doctors that God can use them to heal you.
