A mother of four, Nkeiruka Ngwu, 36, has been arrested by the Lagos state police command for child abuse.

According to reports Ngwu, who resides at 47 Ogundana Street, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, brutalized her 10- year -old househelp identified as Chioma Samuel, whomshe brought from Abia to live with her after the child’s father passed.

Ngwu, who has since January when she brought the child been abusing her met her waterloo after Wednesday 7th of March, 2018, when she allegedly placed a hot pressing iron on the victim’s hands and legs then poured hot water on her as well.

OnThursday 8 March, 2018, Ngwu was confronted by several women who had notcied the injuriy marks on the child. After Ngwu dropped off all her kids at their various schools, she was accosted by the women. They instructed the suspect to take the girl to a hospital or else they would petition the Commissioner of Police Lagos State,but Ngwu did not heed their warnings.

Upon noticing Ngwu did not do as they instructed, they called on the attention of the Commissioner of Police,Lagos State and the suspect was later arrested and will be charged to court tomorrow.

The Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) has apprehended two cult members at Imota area of the State during a recent midnight patrol.

The Chairman of LNSA, Mr. Israel Ajao (RTD) restated the resolve of the Agency to remain committed to its “Clean Up Lagos” exercise.

The suspects, Adebayo Oluwafemi (18) and Kehinde Olumide (19), were apprehended in the early hours of Friday with two dangerous weapons and a locally made gun in their possession.

According to Ajao, the frequent complaints from the residents of Ori-Okuta in Imota area of Ikorodu was not unconnected with the activities of the arrested suspects whom he said confessed to being members of KK-Confraternity and Aiye Secret cult respectively.

He decried the influence of the duo and other members of the cult groups on school children within the area, especially the students of Imota Grammar School who engaged in nefarious acts.

In his words,”Most of the problems that had arisen in the past from this school and the community as a whole is traceable to the activities of these cult members who forcefully recruit students and dispossess people of their belongings”.

He informed that the agency had mobilised its officials to Imota area of Ikorodu for some fact-finding and additional information on the activities of the cult groups.

“The most important part of our operation is that in as much as members of the public continue to support us and provide us with useful information, we will not hesitate to extend our operation to any part of the State and arrest all evil perpetrators within the society and neighbourhood”, Ajao maintained.

A man was captured by a store's CCTV camera in computer village on the 16th of February, 2018 stealing an iPhone.


He was caught today by the Rapid response squad.


His name is Timilehin Olaniyi and he is the phone thief whose CCTV footage of him stealing a phone (iPhone 8S) at a shop in Computer Village went viral.


The event occurred on the 16th of February and he has been on the run ever since before finally being tracked to Ogun State by RRS operatives.

The senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has lent his voice to the criticisms trailing President Muhammadu Buhari's visit to Kano for the wedding ceremony of the daughter of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state, Hajiya Fatima, and the son of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, Idris Ajimobi, on Saturday, March 3.

Nigerian lady marries in a hospital with fractured legs, just a day after being knocked down by a truck

A Nigerian couple identified as Ruth and Timothy got married despite his wife's medical condition which had left her two legs fractured.

Ruth was knocked down by a truck just a day to her wedding day, which left her with fractured legs at the Benue state university teaching hospital.

According to an eye witness, despite the circumstances that befell her and the spouse, the love struck couple couldn't let the incident deter their marriage plans as they wedded at the hospital.

Ruth who had her wedding in the hospital premises, was wheeled in with a wheel chair to the venue of the wedding, as other admitted patients joined her to celebrate her big day.

The wedding filled many people who ordinarily came to the hospital to visit their families with awe and they all joined in the celebration, eating and wining with the couple.

Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the “snake of corruption” swallowing money in government agencies and ministries will kill Nigeria if it is not killed.



Atiku said this while receiving the Man of the Year Award in Lagos, on Friday.


He urged the federal government to fight embark on serious fight against corruption instead of engaging in media warfare or propaganda.



Mr. Atiku said: “We must try to identify why, though we have been ostensibly fighting corruption for the past few years, Transparency International, the official global anti-corruption monitoring agency, has not increased our Corruption Perception Index rating.



“Not to belabor the point, but we have to kill the snake of corruption that swallows the commonwealth that should lift our people up from poverty. Whether that snake is in a JAMB office or any other government office, we must kill it or it will kill us.



“This month of February 2018, according to the World Poverty Clock, Nigeria has just overtaken India as the world’s capital of extreme poverty. There are more extremely poor people in Nigeria than there are in India, a country that has six times Nigeria’s population.



“When people do not have jobs and the means to start a business are beyond their reach, they are incrementally much more likely to engage in criminal behaviors like terrorism, kidnapping, militancy and armed robbery”.


The former Vice President who has expressed interest in contesting for the presidency in 2019 on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has also been subject of corrupt investigations in and outside of Nigeria.

A 50-year-old cattle dealer, Ahmed Abubakar, on Monday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State for alleged N2 million fraud.

Abubakar, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of obtaining under false pretences.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Akpan Ikem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 5, 2017 at Ibereko area in Badagry, Lagos State.

Ikem said the accused collected N2 million from the complainant, Mr Haruna Akapo, with a promise that he would supply 25 cows to him.

“The accused collected the money from the complainant that he would supply the complaint with 25 cows within a certain period of time.

“The accused converted the money into his personal use and did not supply the cows to the complainant. He disappeared and was later arrested by the police,” he said.

Ikem said the offence contravened Section 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Jimoh Adefioye granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adefioye said the sureties should provide evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case until March 12, for mention. (NAN)

The 11-year-old girl who recently recovered from the surgery revealed that she can’t wait to go back to school and show off her newly healed legs.

The teenager further expressed that she can do anything she desires.

Justine’s life changing story was shared on social media by a hospital ship that provides free medical surgeries to the less privileged people in developing countries.

According to the hospital ship, the young girl was the first patient to come aboard the hospital on their opening day. It was also revealed that she was able to walk taller with a bright smile on her face five months later.
