Africans take religion very seriously but some people have raised concerns that some believers tend to mistake extremism for worship.

A church in Abuja has sparked outrage after male members were reportedly spotted kneeling down in front of their pastor as he arrived in a Mercedes Benz G-wagon. Many have speculated that the members were on their knees to welcome the man of God.

According to Kayode Ogundamisi, a rights activist and social commentator, the timing of the release of a documentary on Buhari by the presidency is all wrong.

“Buhari documentary commissioned by Femi Adesina during fuel scarcity is an insult on Nigerians.” he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari on sympathised with Nigerians over the current fuel scarcity crippling the economy for the past three weeks.

“The fuel scarcity being experienced nationwide is regrettable. I sympathize with all Nigerians on having to endure needless fuel queues," he said on Sunday.

“I’m being regularly briefed, especially on the NNPC’s interventions to ensure that there is enough petrol available during this period & beyond,” the president said on Twitter.

He added that he has directed the NNPC to do something about the crisis, which has left Nigerians stranded and sent prices of commodities through the roof.

“I have the NNPC’s assurance that the situation will improve significantly over the next few days, as new shipments and supplies are distributed across the country.

“I have also directed the regulators to step up their surveillance and bring an end to hoarding and price inflation by marketers,

“Let me also assure that the relevant agencies will continue to provide updates on the situation. I thank you all for your patience and understanding,” he said.

- The anti-graft agency has arrested 13 alleged internet fraudsters from Lagos and Ogun state - The men were reportedly arrested with banks' instruments and contracts papers of oil companies

- The suspects allegedly confessed to be involved in phishing, love scam, forgery, spoofing and other illegal acts The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos zonal office, has arrested 13 suspected Internet fraudsters for conspiracy, possession of fraudulent documents and obtaining money under false pretence.

The suspects are- Badejo Tobi; Abiola Dimeji; Anthony Godwin; Osoba Adeboye; Adeleken Abiodun and Awokoya Oriyomi Yusuf. The alleged fraudsters were arrested from Lagos and Ogun state.

The Edo Government on Friday commenced the payment of N20,000 monthly stipends to the four sets of Libya returnees in the state.

Speaking at Idia College, in Benin, venue where the returnees converged to collect the stipends, Chairman of Edo Task force Against Human trafficking, Prof. Yinka Omorogbe, said the stipends would be paid for three months.

She said” when the first set of returnees arrived the state, the governor promised to pay them monthly stipends. This is the first of the payment and it will be for three months’’.

Omorogbe, who is also the Commissioner for Justice, presented N20,000 cheque each to 10 of the returnees while bank transfers process commenced for others.

Some of the returnees who got their cheques appealed to the state government to increase the amount and start the vocational training process as it promised.

Others, who have yet to get their bank alerts confirming the payment of the money to their bank accounts, appealed to the state government to fast track the process as they needed money for their up keep.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that training forms titled “Curbing Migration in Nigeria Project” were distributed to the returnees at the venue to specify the vocational training they would like to acquire.(NAN)

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, said on Tuesday the Board has remitted additional N3.6 billion to the treasury.

He said the N5.2 billion earlier sent to the treasury was not the total money the Board actually transferred to the government.

He disclosed this during a meeting with Executives of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COESU) in his office in Bwari, Abuja.

Prof. Oloyede said more monies generated from the sale of 2017 admission documents were transferred, adding that the Board had so far remitted N7.8 billion to the treasury.

He told the colleges of education executives that applicants were allowed to choose colleges of education as first choice institutions in the admission forms but most of them preferred to choose universities because the five credits requirement for admission into higher institutions was uniform.

Earlier the COESU National President, Nuhu Ogirima, had said the transfer of over N5 billion to the “nation’s coffers would remain quite indelible.”
