It has just been reported that an unidentified young man hung himself to death in Abuja. The unfortunate incident reportedly took place at Lokogoma district within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). According to eyewitnesses, they claimed that the young man killed himself because he was frustrated.

Looking at the picture which has now gone viral on social media, the deceased was seen hanging on the tree with just his underwear on as people gathered round to look at him. However, as at the time his picture was taken on shared on the internet the remains of the deceased was yet to be removed by appropriate authorities.

The Federal Government said it recovered more than N143. 89 billion from corrupt officials through the implementation of the Whistleblower policy.

The Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit (PICA) disclosed this in a report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja.

The report showed that government had successfully recovered N7.8 billion, 378 million dollars and 27,800 pounds sterling.

According to the report, since the policy was introduced in 2016 to fight financial crimes and corruption, PICA has received 8,373 tips.
The report said 1,231 tips received were on financial crimes.

It further showed that the Federal Government was able to investigate 791 cases out of which 534 were completed.

It also showed that the Federal Government had also been able to save N208 billion through the payroll audit of its Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs).

According to the report, N97.94 billion was saved in 2016, while N110.46 billion was saved in 2017.

It said the saving was from the recovery of salaries paid to ex-diplomats, reduction in personnel costs of MDAs and reduction in non-regular allowances of the armed forces, para-military agencies and health institutions.

A Nigerian South African-based pastor has sent the internet into a frenzy after photos of him having an intense worship session with his members surfaced online.

Prophet Andrew Ejimadu who is the president at Christ Freedom Ministries became a controversial topic when photos of his members kissing his shoes for blessings and miracles emerged on social media.

A group of herdsmen and their cows were allegedly spotted straying into Abuja airport in the early hours of Sunday, March 18.

An unconfirmed report states that the herdsmen and their cattle have been regularly visiting the airport for quite some time.

The cows were seen enjoying the ambience of the airport area as they grazed on the grass located around the Abuja airport while one of the herdsmen was seen around them.

Tragedy struck yesterday when a student of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, drowned inside a swimming pool yesterday during a birthday celebration.


According to reports, the sad incident occurred at Cosmila Hotel. The deceased identified whose name was given as Ezekwe Jideofor John, was said to have been at the hotel celebrating with a course mate when the sad incident occurred.

The 30 year old marriage between an 88-year old man and his wife has been dissolved by an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos on Thursday.

The man Mr. Gbeminiyi Adeyiga, 88, had told the court he no longer wants to be married to his wife Sekinat due to her promiscuous ways.infidelity of his wife, Sekinat.

The President of the court, Mrs. Funmi Adeola, subsequently, dissolve the marriage saying;

“Henceforth, you are no longer to be called husband and wife as investigation revealed that the wife truly commits the offence alleged against her.

“Having tried to settle the differences amicably, there were reports from petitioner that the respondent refuses to heed to series of advice.

“You are hereby ordered to go your separate ways and the custody of the three children should be determined by each one of them as they are above 18 years of age.

“However, the children must be jointly groomed toward a better life as your separation should not affect their upbringing,” she ruled.

Adeyiga, during court hearing claimed his wife sleeps with different men.

“My wife does not take care of me any longer; she does not give me good food and different men come to sleep with her in our home.

“She frustrates me, slaps me and she also wants to kill me. I don’t want to die now, please separate us,’’ he pleaded.

Sekinat 55-, who is a petty trader by profession, denied the allegations made by her husband.

“I beg the court to settle us. He has never caught me with a man. He always suspected every move to the extent that he smells my pants whenever I go out and come back.

“I want this court to settle this matter. I am not ready for divorce.’’

The court however dissolved the marriage.

President Buhari commissions the Sunti Golden Sugar Estate today in Niger State.

The sugar estate is located on the banks of River Niger, in Mokwa, featuring 17, 000 hectares of irrigable farmland and a sugar mill that processes 4,500 metric tons of sugarcane per day, considered as the company’s biggest agricultural investment in Nigeria.

The sugar estate, owned by Sunti Golden Sugar Estates (SGSE) Ltd., a subsidiary of Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc., will at full capacity, produce one million tons of sugarcane, which roughly translates into 100,000 metric tons of sugar yearly.

The farm at the peak of production will provide direct employment for about 10,000 people yearly, and impact up to 50,000 people indirectly, including 3,000 small-scale out growers who will be cultivating sugarcane to feed the mill.

A young boy from Jigawa state has emerged has the student with the highest score in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for 2018.

The boy identified as Aliyu Muhammad Sani Kaugama scored 311.

The student had finished his secondary school education at the academy for the gifted and talented Bamaina School. Kaugama has become the talk of town since he came out on top with the perfect exam score.

Many Nigerians have called on Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state to sponsor the brilliant student’s education.

The governor was asked to support Kaugama’s education abroad in other to help the student reach maximum potential.

The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has disclosed that its operatives intercepted and seized 33 containers of Tramadol which were being conveyed to a yet-to-be-ascertained location in Nigeria.

The disclosure was made by the NAFDAC Director-General, Prof Christiana Adeyeye, in Abuja while speaking at the National Chemical Security Training Conference.

She also noted that operatives also seized three trucks filled with Tramadol at the Apapa Ports in Lagos State.

The chemical conference was jointly organised by the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Chemical Security Programme.

The NAFDAC DG said that an emergency should be declared over the abuse of drugs by youths and children in the country.

Adeyeye said, “We have to declare an emergency because of our youths and children who are abusing hard drugs. As I speak, we have about 33 containers of Tramadol that we intercepted. Those are the ones we could see. Some have exited the ports.

“We have a big problem in the country and we have to declare an emergency because of our youths and children who are abusing drugs and families being disintegrated.

“About five weeks ago, NAFDAC intercepted a 40-feet container of Tramadol and two trucks exiting the Apapa ports. We were told that these vehicles were heading for Yola and the eventual destination may be the Sambisa Forest.

“How can a young girl agree to have bombs tie around her, if not that her mind has been stolen through drugs? So, we have a problem to tackle. With the 33 containers, it means that some other containers are yet to be identified. We also have a problem with our porous borders.”
