Crime / Photo: 2 Suspceted Female Drug Traffickers Arrested In Lagos by 360jamng(m): 12:00pm On Nov 03, 2015

Two suspected female drug traffickers identified as Abdulrasaq Modinat Alake and Mbonu Chizoba have been arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos in connection with the exportation of 4.450kg of cocaine to India and 7kg of cannabis to China.

One of the suspects, Chizoba, is a second time offender as she had been arrested for the same offence in 2013. She has a pending case at the Federal High Court Ikoyi. When interrogated, the married mother of two said

“I accept blame for not checking the bag carefully when a client gave it to me. My job is risky because we assist people in clearing cargoes. I feel bad that this is happening to me when the first case is still on”.
The second suspect, Alake(45) from Kwara State said her quest to settle her medical bills made her venture into the illicit business

“I was married but later separated. I am the only person taking care of myself. My business was booming before I had a health challenge. I used to buy clothes from India and Dubai for supply in Lagos since 2011. My problem started when the doctor said I need to do a surgical operation costing $5,000. Before now, I have spent my money on medical bills in hospitals. That was how I met a man in India during my last visit who promised to pay for my medical expenses. He also told me to take a bag of cocaine to India. It was all about regaining my health but I never knew it will end this way,” she said
NDLEA Airport Commander Ahmadu Garba said the suspects will be charged to court soon.

Politics / Jonathan Has The Right To Visit Buhari Anytime He So Wishes – Presidency by 360jamng(m): 9:25am On Nov 03, 2015
lalasticlala

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, for the second time since he left office on May 29.

The two leaders met behind closed doors at the New Banquet Hall of the State House for about ten minutes, soon after which Jonathan left the Villa.

The details of Jonathan’s meeting with Buhari was not disclosed. However, following enquiries made to the presidency on the agenda of the meeting, presidential spokesperson, Mr. Femi Adesina told Vanguard on phone: “He has the right to visit the villa anytime as a former president,” Adesina said.

It is believed that Jonathan visited President Buhari to brief him on the outcome of the Tanzania election in which he played a role as the leader of Commonwealth Election Observer Group to observe the conduct of the election. However, some say the former president came to seek an understanding with the present government to halt the criticism against his government.

Crime / 1,000 Fake Lawyers Uncovered Through NBA Stamp Policy – NBA by 360jamng(m): 9:09am On Nov 03, 2015
No fewer than 1,000 fake lawyers had been uncovered by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), through the NBA stamp policy launched on April 15, 2015.

The Third Vice President of the NBA, Mr Akintokunbo Oluwole disclosed this in an address delivered at the special court sitting to mark the opening of the 2015/2016 Legal Year in Akure, the Ondo State yesterday.

Oluwole described the issue of quacks in the profession as a serious cankerworm which had eaten deep into the fabric of the legal profession and needs to be addressed urgently.

According to him, “So far, the NBA stamp policy has been able to revive the system and has increased the revenue stream of lawyers across the country.

“Most importantly, it has improved the authenticity of documents, which are now being filed in   court registries since all legal documents must now bear the stamp of lawyers to be considered valid”, he said.

He further explained that, though the fake lawyers had also devised various means to scuttle the implementation of the stamp policy, they had been unsuccessful.

Oluwole who noted that the NBA had received reports from stakeholders expressing concerns and reservations on the successful implementation of the policy, said that the leadership of the bar is not re-inventing the will but merely enforcing the provision of the law.

He said, “The provisions of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners, 2007 on the NBA Stamp is unambiguous and sacrosanct”.

While speaking at the occasion, the Ondo State chief judge, Justice Olaseinde Kumuyi said that several despicable discoveries were made during the strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).

Olasehinde who said, top of the discoveries was affidavit forgery, explained that some dubious individuals had carved out their personal stamps and issued out illegal affidavits to unsuspecting or collaborating members of the public.

According to the chief judge, the activities of the dubious individuals compromised the integrity of the affidavits and reduced the oath process to ridiculous activities just as it denied government of revenue.

Kumuyi said: “All affidavits would now have two coloured passports photographs of the deponent who must swear or affirm the truth of the contents before specially trained commissioners for oaths”.

Meanwhile, some members of NBA boycotted the 2015 legal year celebration, accusing the state chief judge of taxing lawyers heavily.

The aggrieved lawyers who had earlier this year embarked on a strike for almost six months ,alleged   that the chief judge has commercialised the judiciary in the state.

The lawyers also threatened to continue to boycott all court activities presided over by the chief judge until he   leaves.

Speaking with journalists in Akure yesterday, the Akure branch chairman of NBA, Mr. Kayode Dare   disclosed that the state judiciary is no longer for the common man as it is now a money making machine for the state government.

Dare explained that the “Environmental fine that is supposed to be affordable in a sum of N500 is now N10,000. Many people are languishing in jail because they can’t afford that money.”

The NBA boss disclosed that over 60 magistrates appointed by Kumuyi were operating from rented apartments which is against the law.

He, however, demanded the removal of Justice Kumuyi by the National Judicial Council, NJC, as necessary petitions had been submitted to the council.

Politics / There Is Great Danger Ahead For Nigeria, Gowon Warns by 360jamng(m): 1:24pm On Nov 01, 2015

@360jamng

Former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd), at the weekend, said the consequences of not putting Nigerian youths on the right path would be too hard for the country to bear.

He, therefore, called on leaders, parents and guardians to rise up to various issues of moral decadence in the country.

Speaking at the 25th Anniversary of the Scripture Union (NIG), Abuja Area, and the presentation of a Book; Acts Of The Pilgrims, Gowon express fear that the future of the country may be gloomy if “we do not rise up” to the issues.

“May I challenge every participant and invited guest here that today’s celebration calls us into deep reflection of our lost Godly values and virtues, particularly, as christian men and women, and seek to recover them.

“This occasion must therefore compel us to reflect deeply on the state of the nation, particularly the issues relating to moral decadence, s*xual perversion, restiveness, precarious security challenges and corruption.

“We must rise up to deal with various issues of moral burdens in our educational institutions and labour to arrest the tide through massive prayer campaign and action.

“If we do not arise to bring our youths into the path of rectitude, then their future will appear gloomy, and, therefore, we cannot build a virile nation of trust, integrity and good governance,” he said.

Gowon also extolled the contributions of the SU to the course of humanity. “I can testify that SU as is popularly called has stood the test of time for several decades, and in particular Nigeria, in the pursuit of rugged evangelism and christian perfection.

“I am indeed proud to identify with the work of the Scripture Union as it has proved to be a strong evangelistic force on our University campuses, across various institutions and has actively provided the spiritual foundation and needs of our Nigerian Christian youths with significant proofs.

“Many of you seated here today can testify to the immense impact and influence of the SU upon your lives in your respective campuses and institutions as young christian students.

“I have no doubt that the purposeful and strategic influence of Scripture Union will continue to impact the church and our nation.”

Speaking on the Book: ‘Acts of the Pilgrims’ to mark the Jubilee Anniversary, Gowon described the book as an appetizer that will make the people to seek for more through God.

Sports / National Lottery Regulatory Commission Makes N5n In 10yrs [LOL] by 360jamng(m): 10:56pm On Oct 31, 2015

The National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) says it has remitted more than N5 billion to the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) in the past 10 years of its operation for execution of people-oriented projects.

The Director General of the Commission, Mr. Adolphus Ekpe, disclosed this yesterday, in Abuja, during the 2015 Lottery Achievers Award, to mark the 10th year anniversary of lottery regulation in Nigeria.

“So far, over N5 billion has been remitted to the NLTF for the execution of good causes projects. This was possible, though with stark reality of educating the people about what lottery truly represents.

“The general public was hardly aware of the existence of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission or its sister agency, the National Lottery Trust Fund in 2005. Even after five years, public perception of lottery was negative and viewed as a venture not for decent members of the society, as it was equated more with gambling,” said Ekpe.

This made the Commission to embark on aggressive nationwide enlightenment, sensitization and rebranding campaigns to change the negative perception of lottery across the country, which is considered as a viable revenue source to the economy.

“We are happy to note that all the enlightenment efforts have helped in changing the perception of the general public today towards lottery business as a tool for national development,” he explained.

In addition to this, the NLRC henchman also stated that the Commission been able to record other milestones in the area of job creation by increasing its work force from 11 in 2005 to 1500 in 2015 in line with government’s employment agenda. The Commission had also expanded into 14 states across the country and further granted 20 licenses to different indigenous firms with a mandate to run the business of national lottery in Nigeria.

To achieve effective and efficient monitoring and regulation of all lottery activities, the NLRC boss said the Commission had singed memorandum of understanding with the Nigerian Police, Economic and Financial Crime Commission and the Nigeria Communications Commission to combat illegal lottery operators.

For the NLRC to realize its full potential as a viable source of revenue generation that can impact the GDP significantly, he said the Commission had concluded plans to commence the automation of the monitoring and regulation of lottery in Nigeria, become the highest revenue generating agency in the country, secure enhanced salary package for its staff and move into its own office complex.

Celebrities / AUN Clears Air On Wizkid’s Alleged Failed Appearance After Payment by 360jamng(m): 7:02pm On Oct 30, 2015

A couple of days ago, Wizkid was accused by @mrtawati on Twitter for ignoring a concert at American University of Nigeria scheduled in November after he had been paid.

The rumor went round and Wizkid has to address the issue on Twitter, calling the story false.

Now AUN has released a statement denying that Wizkid had been paid for the show; according to the statement Wizkid could not make the earlier date because of a scheduling concert, and now both parties are in talks over a new date.

Read the press statement below:

We would like to clear the air on the issue about Wizkid performing at AUN. We have been in negotiations with his management about him performing at our annual Homecoming concert. However due to a scheduling conflict he will not be able to make it at that time. We want to make it clear that contrary to what has been going round on the Internet this event has not happened yet, neither have we paid any money to Wizkid or his representatives. Any information saying he reneged on our agreement is wrong as we are still in the process of selecting an alternative date.

“Many students were disappointed he could not make Homecoming and one person in expressing their disappointment made statements, which were picked up by social media sites, that are inaccurate and do not reflect our position on this issue. AUN does not have any quarrel with Wiz Kid and we look forward to welcoming him on our campus at a future date.

Nairaland / General / TE And NAPTIN Team Up To Provide Technical Training For Nigeria’s Power Sector by 360jamng(m): 12:44pm On Oct 29, 2015
lalasticlala, @360jamng

TE Connectivity (TE), a global leader in connectivity, announces today a strategic partnership with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) with a goal to provide critical expertise and workforce training essential for the country’s power sector.   Recently, Nigeria’s power sector has experienced setbacks due to the inadequacy of infrastructure and poor output of energy efficiency throughout the sector. TE, which is a global leader in providing reliable and cost-effective products and solutions for the electrical power industry, is now partnering with NAPTIN to develop solutions to the challenges facing the sector, through the training and development of local talent. TE experts will work with NAPTIN’s trainers and provide technical training on the connectivity required to enable power systems.    The training will be based on TE’s high-quality products and solutions including the industry-leading Raychem product line. Once complete, NAPTIN will organize training sessions at its facilities for local installers.

Ronnie Fotheringham, head of the TE Energy Project in Nigeria stated, “As the government of Nigeria invests in upgrading and expanding the power network, the country also needs to invest in its people – developing the skills and expertise required to develop and maintain that network.’’   He added, “The partnership with NAPTIN is a significant step in that direction. It furthers the mission by bringing the proven solutions, technical know-how and broad application experience to NAPTIN and those being trained. We view this partnership as beneficial to the Nigerian power vision and to TE, building deeper connections throughout the country.”   Reuben Okeke, Engr., Director General, NAPTIN, said, “The power sector needs skilled technicians, and this partnership with TE is meant to help achieve sufficiency in power supply, which is one of the steps taken to encourage industrialization and as well improve the economy. This is very important at this time, as the sector needs to develop its talent base to enable the operating and maintenance of the electricity supply in Nigeria.’’   NAPTIN was established on March 23, 2009, to serve as an institute to train power sector personnel in Nigeria and other countries in the West African region. The NAPTIN institute continues to provide training for power sector personnel and coordinate training activities in the sector, with eight regional training centers across Nigeria, and its headquarters in Abuja. Today, 85 instructors are working for NAPTIN and more than 9,500 power sector personnel have been trained.

She also blasted some men who she says could go extra miles to want to be with her after displaying her sexy and breasty photos on the social media.

In in interview with Daily Sun, she had this to say about posting sexually provocative pictures:
“I post my sexy pictures anytime I feel like. In the UK, I am registered with agencies that do plus sized lingerie, so I have been publishing to be one of their models. I won’t give up; who knows, someday my dreams will come true. “People should know that my husband and other family members support whatever I am doing with my body. “Whenever I am going for my shoot, my hubby is always there to supervise, so people should let me be,” Chioma stressed.
She continued: "The Bible says in…(I can’t even remember the part of the Bible), but I know God said all that matters is our hearts and not what we wear outside.   “If you look at my photo and it is turning you on, you can scroll down, pass or better still, delete yourself off my Facebook wall.” The actress alleged that some men go as far as romancing and ‘wanking’ on her pictures via the media.

Romance / Confession: How My Teacher Bleep The Hell Out Of Me [read] by 360jamng(m): 11:38pm On Oct 24, 2015
THE TEACHER Brittany had just pulled her sweater over
her truly miraculous chest and was smoothing her
pleated skirt across her heavy thighs when Kimmy
stopped in front of her locker and whispered, “I don’t
know why, but your mom is in Mz. Collins’office and
they want to see you right away!!!” “My mom, here,”
Brittany asked nervously, “what in the world is she
doing with Mz. Collins!?!” ” I dunno,” Kimmy replied,
“but if I were you I’d get my ass in there pronto, you
know how she hates having to ask for something
twice!!!” That was for sure, the forty something gym
teacher had a hair trigger
that didn’t take a lot to set it off, so after grabbing her
books and tossing her wet towel into the hamper, she
made an audible gulping sound and headed off to Mz.
Collins’ private office at the rear of the locker room!!!
Even before she entered the small windowless office
Britt knew there was trouble brewing simply from the
ashen look on her mother’s face, so after taking a deep
breath she strode in and asked evenly, “You wanted to
see me, Mz. Collins?” “Yes I do,” the gym teacher
replied. “Sit down, please, I was just explaining to your
mother why I requested her presence at this meeting,
now where was I!?!” “Uh, you were saying something
about Brittany’s undergarments,” Joanne Reeves replied,
“that they weren’t supportive enough…..” “That’s
correct,” Carla Collins replied, “what your daughter calls
a bra is nothing more than a piece of lycra being asked
to perform an impossible task, and if I do say so, I think
that you have been completely derelict in your duties as
a mother!” Joanne Reeves’ face turned a bright shade of
red and after collecting her thoughts stammered, “W-
why I never, the absolute gall, I have a mind to march
right over to the principal’s office and report your
behavior!!!” Brittany had never seen her mother get so
excited and upset in her life, but what happened next
was even more stunning as out of nowhere Mz. Collins
lashed out with the back of her right hand, catching a
totally surprised Joanne flush on the cheek
accompanied by the harsh reprimand, “Don’t you ever
threaten me again, do I make myself clear, believe me
you will live to regret it!” It was at that moment that
both Brittany and her mother realized that they were at
Carla Collins’ mercy, so with tears welling up in her eyes
Joanne Reeves replied softly, “I-I understand, I’m
sorry!!!” “That’s better,” a slightly placated Carla
answered evenly, “now, to make my point I want Britt to
remove her clothing except for her bra and panties, and I
mean right now!” Britt looked helplessly at her mother
for assistance, but instead of a helping hand all she got
was a blank stare which indicated that she was on her
own! Still a little stunned at the sudden turn of events,
she was jolted back to reality when Carla Collins’ sharp
voice demanded, “Are you going to strip or do I have to
do it for you, young lady?” “Uh no,” Britt replied softly
while undoing her blouse, “I was just thinking that’s
all!!!” “Don’t think, just do,” Carla shot back while she
folded her arms across her huge chest as she watched
the buxom eighteen year old struggle out of her skirt
leaving her standing there in a skimpy bra and panties!
