He is right. Dental officer is on same salary scale as a medical officer which is the CONMESS salary scale for civil service. Intern medical and dental officer should be within 160-200k depends on hospital.. But private practice will be a little bit lower as expected.

What is wrong with it being on FP?

Would you rather prefer the 'boobs and snakes' thread?

This is an informative thread.

There is no standard salary for any job in Nigeria.

It depends on where you get job.

May be as low as N70k or as much as N500k, depending on where you get job.

After all those years of school? That's less than half of what dentists charge for a root canal in the US. You have dentists making over $250,000 a year in the US. Now I see why our brightest flee the country.

This is one of those questions I hate to see online.

People should know that there isn't any standard salary structure out there. Even in the civil service, some states pay good salary, others pay low salary, some even owe 8-10 months salary.

Ask 100 graduate dentist and you'd discover that they all earn different salaries. Some will earn good salary because their employers know how much it cost to rent an apartment in the city; those who earn low salaries may actually have huge and fat bank account because some live in staff quarters, enjoy company buses and spend absolutely nothing on food, rent and transportation. Some companies even fund health bill, study leave and school fees for 1 or 2 children.

These questions are irrelevant. There's no single and all encompassing salary structure for any profession or trade in Nigeria.

Just aim high in whatever you love to do, strive and be steadfast. If your aim is the money, then start thinking about how to own a dental clinic after a few year practice.

Nobody will pay you more than you can offer. That's the secret.

As a first year dentist, you could get a 6-figure salary between N150k and N200k depending on your location of practice, the financial buoyancy of your employer or your negotiation skill set

Don't know the starting salary

But because DENTISTRY is a highly specialised field, it's very lucrative.

I extracted an impacted wisdom and a molar, just 2 teeth for 95000 last week.

Thank God i didn't have to remove it in the US, I learnt it would have cost over 300,000Naira

Goodluck with the smelly teeth, blood and crying adults. Fortune / comforts await in dentistry.

You would just have to eventually build up a private practice as any other Dr. to rake in the big bucks

A dentist is a doctor and so the start up salary (internship) is at par with that of the medical doctor.

except that most practice don't charge this much.. and the pay which is based on percentage may not add uo to much.
please tell me where you received your treatment.
I may end up sending my resume up there in the future.

Wow what an epistle. Nobody is saying there's a fixed salary for anything, but there's always an average, some estimate, something to guide you. The question is very relevant, I can't say same for your epistle though.
