Actually, the largest city status of Ibadan was both population wise and landmass wise in comparison to Lagos city. The basis of our discussion is that you said Lagos wasn't as developed as the other 3 regional capitals, and I have shown you that lagos was more developed than any of the regional capitals by significant margin
Am not disproving you that Lagos is not developed, before independence. But talking about no regional capital is as developed as Lagos then is not true. The premier of those regions then as trying hard to outpace the British to give them an impression that they can rule without their presence. Ibadan then seems to do that best people troops to better places, that's why Ibadan then was more populated than Lagos, but the story is different now people now prefer to live in Lagos because of the economic prosperity.

Lol! Are you listening to yourself?

Gowon under the advise of Edo and Yolobas decided to kill the regional system and create dysfunctional states in bid to turn the Eastern minorities against Ndiigbo and Ojukwu.
Yet in your warped logic, Gowon and his hordes of Edo and Yoloba advisers are not to be held responsible for their actions!

Ironsi that they murdered must be held responsible!

Lol! This is mental retardation at its peak.

Very silly rants of a typical ipobian suffering from delusional plague. Keep hiding behind a finger while you and your fellow brothers from Nigeria's Middle East suffer the nemesis of Ironsi's moronic decision. If not for the usual Igbo disease which replaces reality with pure conjectures, how could someone be attempting to drag Edo into the contest between Ironsi's stupidity and Gowon's decision to curtail Ojukwu's adrenaline? How did Edo come into the story? The mere fact that none of you Igbos ever staged a demonstration or issued a public disapproval of Ironsi's Unification Decree as did the Edos, Yorubas and Northerners also means that you people as well did not see anything wrong with even Gowon's own as you were still of the belief that you could still have your beloved One-Nigeria and Lord it over others.
Keep blaming Edos and others for the consequences of the evil it Ironsi pioneered.
Hasn't it ever occured to you that the third class citizen status of you Middle East natives today within Nigeria is a divine indictment of Ironsi above all those who came after him?

Were the Eastern Minorities not already resenting you Middle Easterners even before independence? Always pointing fingers. If you had been really good to them would they have been so foolish that a mere creation of states was all they needed to turn against Ojukwu?

Lol! Keep bleating all over the place!

When you are through, you still have to choke from the truth, which is :
"On May 27,
1967, Gowon created the 12 states, killed the four
regions and handed supreme authority to the
central Government. It has been so since"

It will hurt you forever and there is no running away from it.

See inverted accusations!

Ironsi, your brother, dismantled the regions and replaced them with 35 very weak provinces whose heads were to report to the centre, unified the civil service, abolished community police, abolished regional ambassadorial positions, etc.
The truth remains that the present system bequeathed by Ironsi hurts you his brothers the most. If not how come your voices have remained the loudest in the call for a return to Federalism or break up?

Thank you. That is the point I have been trying to make. Before independence Ibadan, a regional capital, erected the tallest building in Nigeria, the first television house in Africa, the first University in Nigeria, and many more ahead of Lagos.

What system did Ironsi bequeath? Was it Ironsi that dissolved the regions with active support of Edos and Yolobas with intent of dividing Biafra?

Is your brain touching? Lol!

Intelligent people always seek out for a solitary place once they notice the crowd is not edifying.
Its only natural that Ndiigbo had remained resolute in our demand to severe all connections with demonic Igbophobic people all around that had made progress of the colonial entity impossible. Lol!
That doesn't mean that we are not doing relatively better than the Igbophobic people, Enugu made the resilient city list ahead of Lagos, SE was recently branded the most peaceful part of the country. We had topped all available Education stats in Nigeria for decades now. From Unity schools, to WAEC, NECO and JAMB.

But we still know we can do better once we untangle ourselves from hateful unproductive groups in Nigeria, hence our resolve to self determination.

As regional capital under a strictly federal arrangements featuring resource control, Ibadan was I charge of a revenue base far bigger than that of Lagos. Recall that the Western Region controlled from Ibadan was the richest as of then hence the quest by the Hausa-Igbo NPC-NCNC coalition to take it over by hook or crook.
With the pictorial display of the infrastructure of Ibadan above, what kind of development did Lagos have and Ibadan lacked?

The beating of hairy chests again. How would the Sad Middle East not be the most peaceful region when it has the least population and is the least cosmopolitan region thus does not experience the intertribal rivalries attendant to cosmopolitanism in Nigeria? For a region which is home to one of the three major tribes to ironically be the least populated among the six region means that the region has nothing to offer her own people hence the mass exodus to other regions which leaves behind a graveyard peace which you now blindly celebrate. Very shameful!
Your people from the sad Middle East are all over the other five regions competing with the natives for educational facilities and infrastructure and this misguided thing is here celebrating temporary assessments on Education? What are the levels of school enrolments in the Middle East compared with the SW and SS? How many private and public universities can the Middle East boast of?
You could not but stand for Biafra after your plot to subdue others through the "One-Nigeria" slogan subterfuge failed. When they felt they needed other people's lands and resources they invented and chanted "One-Nigeria" but when the evil plans boomeranged they began to chant "Give us Biafra". Other tribes are Igbophobic yet you kept on asking for One Nigeria with them. They are Igbophobic but it was Igbo that organized a coup to wipe out their leading lights? Then who was really guilty of phobia?

Still vomiting verbose incoherent posts.

Can't make anything out of your long post.
Lol! You seem to be in a lot of pain and it's showing in your uncoordinated incoherent ranting.

But I'm a bit free, so I will school your bitter Edo soul

Igboland is the most peaceful region in Nigeria in both pre and post colonial Nigeria, it has nothing to do with population as Igboland remains densely populated more than other Nigerian parts.
It's so because the people had long evolved a republican system of government that does not have place for savage kings hustling to expand their kingdoms by encroaching into their neighbors lands, in attempt at territorial expansionism, and subjugation of neighbors leading to unnecessary wars and depopulation of the region. The people had mastered the delicate act of peaceful resolution of conflicts more than other Nigerians, there are few occasional conflicts like Aglueri-Umuleri, Ezza- Ezillo but they had all been resolved peacefully.
For a person from an empire that constantlywent on wars of expansionism and subjugation against her neighbors before she was ransacked by the British, I understand why this is hard for you to understand.

SE is as cosmopolitan is it can be. Edo cannot compete with any state in SE in any aspect of human endeavour, heck! Ogbuefi once used Anioma to trump Edo in many aspects of development. Read about it here:
Your backward Edo has nothing on SE.

SE does not equate to Igboland. It's only a part of Igboland. and it's populated enough for its landmass, hence it's high population density.

Here is international bodies crediting Enugu, who knows your cursed Edo? Lol! https://www.nairaland.com/2031155/enugu-makes-history-joins-worlds

Why do you want to hide behind an artificial grouping like SS where Igbos like Okocha, Okonjo, Utomi, Elumelu hold sway to project your backward region? Which Edo man exactly is more influential than those SS Igbos? Edo man why are you hiding behind SS when Igbos in SS are still trumping you there? Lol!
https://www.nairaland.com/3539543/delta-rivers-igbos/10#54251199
Yes in School enrollment, both primary, secondary and Tertiary, Igbos( both those in SE and SS) are on top.

Every SE state has a state university and polytechnic and the private university industry here is warming up.

How many does your Edo have? or you want to hide behind SS again? Lol!
Yes, Ndiigbo are all over the world, not just Nigeria, doing exploit! You can die if it so much pains you. Those of us at home are also clearly doing better than Edo in all ramifications.

No where in history had Ndiigbo attempted to annex other people's land or resources.

But we know of a cursed empire now reduced to a minority state whose Oba went about the entire Southern Nigeria, using weapons gotten from Portuguese to harass neighboring tribes, all the way from Western Igboland to Eastern Yolobaland. Until the British reduced her to mere ranting minorities in Nigeria under two days of conquest.

No! Ironsi didn't dissolve the regions! Each region still have governors who were answerable to the centre.
Each region always had provinces, before Ironsi and they still did when he left!

Gowon is liable for his actions, both him and his hordes of Yoloba and Edo advisers!

The repercussions is why the colonial entity failed today.
Gowon actions as supported and advised by Yolobas and Edoids killed the colonial entity.

Accept responsibility for your actions, leave Ironsi. and Ojukwu alone.

Not taking responsibility for their actions by Arewa-odunistanis and their Edo partners is the reason why Nigeria failed and will continue to rotten.
We see this same action this action today when they attempt to blame GEJ for the actions and incompetence of Buhari and APC!

You lots are pathetic.

You sound loud but empty. The mere existence of subnational divisions in a country does not automatically translate to a federal structure. Whether a country is federal or unitary is not a matter of the presence or absence of subdivisions but the extent to which the divisions enjoy autonomy free from the centre.
UK has subnational divisions yet it is a unitary state because these divisions are highly dependent on the centre. The situation under Ironsi was similar to that. The mere fact that you admit that the military governors under Ironsi were reporting to the centre substantiates the fact that Ironsi imposed Unitarism as the civilian regional premiers did not report to Balewa prior to that time.

Here is Ironsi's speech dismantling the regions:

Fellow Nigerians, during the past two weeks, I have presided over meeting of the Supreme Military Council and the Central Executive Council at which many important state matters were considered.
It is now three months since the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was handed over to the armed forces. Now that peace has been restored to the troubled areas it is time that the Military Government indicates clearly what it proposes to accomplish before relinquishing power. The removal of one of the obstacles on the way is provided for in the constitution (Suspension and Modification). Decree number 5 1966 which was promulgated by me today and comes into effect at once.
The provisions of the decree are intended to remove the last vestiges of the intense regionalism of the recent past, and to produce that cohesion in the governmental structure which is so necessary in achieving and maintaining the paramount objective of the National Military Government and indeed of every true Nigerian, namely; national unity.
The highlights of this decree are as follows:
1. The former regions are abolished and Nigeria grouped into a number of territorial areas called provinces.
2. Nigeria ceases to be what has been described as a federation. It now becomes simply The Republic of Nigeria............."

From the above is anyone still ready to keep blindly arguing that Ironsi did not abolish the regions, pulled down federalism and replaced it with an overwhelmingly strong centre, thus unitary system, all in the name of seeking a fraudulent "national unity" in line with "Zik's one Nigeria"?

As if that was not bad enough, Ironsi went further to unilaterally set up a constitution review panel 100℅ composed of Igbo soldiers and civilians. Yet this Middle Easterner here is blaming Edos for his brother's sin. The sad Middle East and falsehood are Siamese twins.

Beat around the bush all you want. Gowon it was, not Ironsi who effectively dissolved Nigerian regions, created dysfunctional entities called states, under the advise of Yoloba and Edos, long after Ironsi died.

How you want this very fact to be twisted and logic turned upside down in effort to absolve Gowon and his Edo/ Yoloba advisers blame for their actions but instead to place them on dead Ironsi is still a mystery to me till this day.

Lol! Your posts as usual are always lengthy and full of trash. It's hard job filtering things worth replying in them.

Ndiigbo invented One Nigeria? You meant Lord luggard or Littleton were both Igbos? Lol!

Unprovoked? Lol! What does that mean? care to explain? You know why and how Bini kingdom graduated to Bini empire? Do you know the difference between a kingdom and an empire?

Biafra couldn't have attacked PH or Calabar as they were both parts of Biafra, heck! The Biafran vice president was from Akwa Ibom likewise many other top officials of Biafra.

Edo and Yolobas were part and parcel of Gowon's Nigeria that first attacked Biafra at Garkem border. Biafra March to Lagos through Midwest to unseat Gowon and Arewa soldiers that stationed there to co ordinate attack on Biafra was justified.

Your Edo was over ran in 2hours! Talk about an empire of blood now reduced to a pathetic weak minority Lol! If not for Banjo that derailed the mission,Gowon would have been ransacked from Lagos.

Your Edo was over ran in 2hours! Talk about an empire of blood now reduced to a pathetic weak minority Lol! If not for Banjo that derailed the mission,Gowon would have been ransacked from Lagos.

And your own post above is short and precise? Your deluded Zik who coined the "One-Nigeria" slogan as a Euphemism for unitary system, deprecated all de-amalgamations attempts by Ahmadu Bello, Awolowo, Enahoro, Balewa, etc has become British?
You may give your own distorted version of Benin's growth from a kingdom to an empire.
You can may find out why PH and Calabar people opened up the shorelines to the federal forces if you think they really ever keyed into Biafra movement. All the SS tribes recently drumed into you ears the need for you to leave them out of the agitation. Wike, an Igboid of the SS, outlawed pro-Biafra rallies in Rivers State.
Continue in delusion. You are free.

Mr. Ignoramus, population density is not the same as high population. A place with a relatively low population could have a very high population density if its landmass is very small. And that is the scenario in the Middle East where their five states combined is not up to Adamawa alone in landmass.

Edo State currently has Seven Universities and two polytechnics. Mention a state in the Middle East that comes near that record. Edo has two three existing private universities with 4 more already licenced while the entire Middle East is still warming up according to you.
You can hit your Igbo head against the rock if you are so pained of the existence of the SS. I guess illustrious SS sons like AIG Imokhuede, Amaju Pinnick who just won CAF seat, Enahoro who pioneered independence motion, the Imafidons, Ita Giwa, PA Imodu, Sagay, Late Amodu Shuaibu, the owner of Channels TV - are Edo son, Ben Bruce the owner of Sylverbird TV, Dokoesi - another Edo son owning a TV station, and countless others from the SS are igboids? Funny enough the so called Igboids of the SS resent the Igbo identity.
How many Igbos own TV stations at all let alone on satellite?
Igbos had before independence mastered the art of simple resolution of conflicts as you claim, yet in 1966 they used a bloody coup in trying to resolve a political conflict of mere alliances? You don't think deeply before making claims.

Ojukwu's earlier attack on Isaac Boro for declaring Niger Delta Republic justified Gowon's later attack on Ojukwu for declaring Biafra. Those who deny others freedom don't deserve it themselves...... Abraham Lincoln.

Are you this slow?

guess illustrious SS sons like AIG Imokhuede,
Amaju Pinnick who just won CAF seat, Enahoro
who pioneered independence motion, the Imafidons,
Ita Giwa, PA Imodu, Sagay, Late Amodu Shuaibu,
the owner of Channels TV - are Edo son, Ben Bruce
the owner of Sylverbird TV, Dokoesi - another Edo

Nobody know these entities outside Edo state. Lol! How can you compare these people with just Okonjo? Forget about Okocha, that will be overkilling it.

And yes, those names I mentioned are proud Igbos people, you can go and do the needful, if you feel like.

You obviously failed to realize it was in response to your own diversionary comment. Are you that retarded to quickly lose memory of what you started? No wonder it has been a nightmare getting you to remember that Ironsi started the business of constitution bastardization.
Read your comment which I quoted. Of course you know that the Isaac Boro angle strips you of the moral ground to accuse Gowon of attacking Ojukwu first hence your quick attempt to classify it as irrelevant. It is actually very relevant.

You are not mentally stable. SE is densely populated, it has just enough population for its landmass. First you say SE is deserted, I showed you that it is more densely populated region that most Nigerian regions, now you have shifted your little brain to landmass, as if landmass had helped Afghanistan or Kazakhstan to better the likes of Austria, Switzerland and Belgium.

No independent non biased analyst had ever branded the 1966 coup an Igbo coup, not even the Yoruba plotter amongst them like Ademoyega had done such.

Only frustrated Edo and Yoloba people do so, for obvious reasons.

The Benin kingdom
never attacked any of her neighbour unprovoked.
But we know of the Sad Middle East Army led by
Ojukwu, which in an expansionist drive, attacked
Benin and environs, Warri, PH, Cross River, Ore, etc
without provocation and in less than 24 hours got
dislodged and swept back with their tails tucked
between their hind legs.

This was part of your post that I replied by stating that Gowon first attacked eastern region.

I also made it clear that Eastern region was composed of PH and Cross Rivers! And that Biafra had active leaders from those regions as well.

Now tell me, how does this fit into your Adaka Boro diversion!

1. University of Benin
2. Ambrose Alli University (The first state-owned university in Nigeria and the establishment of which was fiercely resisted by the Hausa-Igbo FG of Shagari and Ekweme.
3. Federal Polytechnic Auchi (The first in Nigeria)
4. Benson Idahosa University - One of the first private universities in Nigeria and also the first missionary one.
5. Edo University, Iyamoh - making Edo the first state to run multiple state-owned universities as obtains in the USA.
6. Ekiadolor University of Education
7. Samuel Adegboyega University, Ogwa
8. Midwestern University, Ehor
9. Evidence University, Lambill
10. Edo State Polytechnic Usen.
11. Wellspring University Benin City.
Now provide a similar list of tertiary institutions in the Forsaken Enugu or the entire Sad Middle East.

Please go check 2006 Census figures an see for yourself that the Middle East is least populated in Nigeria despite being home to one of the two largest single tribes.
You need to go back to JS one to learn the difference between population and population density. Your explanations above would earn you an F9 were it an examination.
If Landmass is inconsequential then why trying to grab the South-South Benue and parts of Kogi into your Biafra rather than go it alone? Haven't you ever seen Kanu's map version?

Zik did all that with British support which needed only one dissenter to retain their grip on Nigeria.

The early 80s recession was caused by the profligacy and misrule by the Arewanistan-Biafra partnership government of Shagari-Ekweme which mirrored the earlier Balewa-Zik hegemony that equally mismanaged the economy, rigged censuses and elections massively in the first republic, caused simultaneous riots in Okrika, Tiv land and Yorubaland.
If Ojukwu so genuinely believed in plebiscites as you would have us beliebe, then why didn't he conduct a plebiscite for Ijaws to determine their opinion on NDR before he attacked Isaac Boro? Why could he not advise Ironsi to go for plebiscite before altering the constitution? Plebiscite apostle indeed!

On the other hand no Middle East governor has openly come out to condemn the hosting of pro-biafra rallies in their domain as did Wike and Okowa, and none has ever banned same in their states as did Wike. None has ever visited a Northern Emir to pledge loyalty to One-Nigeria as did Wike recently in Sokoto. You are the Sad Middle Easterner.
