Nigeria needs restructuring so that every ethnic nationality can deal with their respective mediocrity .
The system breeds mediocrity and this man is an example of such mediocrity. I pull no punches from anybody. It is not by useless papers (degrees) . It is by the attitude and no current Nigerian politician has that revolutionary attitude .

Attitude with skill and education is bunk. Skill with attitude makes the most sense

First of all am not disappointed Bruce doesn't understand the idea behind quota system

Quota system is not perfect but its the best we can do for now ...
Hypocrisy is when u complain about quota system but get angry when they want to remove state of origin and replace it with state of birth

Do we have quota system in the super eagles ?? Do we ?? This guy is ignorant I swear ...

You post is self-contradictory, what are you talking about?

Super eagles have been able to win competitions because acceptance is based on merit, don't you think the civil service, and agencies such as the NNPC & CBN would also flourish if selection of workforce is based on merit too?

This guy and his "no get sense" tweets .

Any multicultural, multi ethnic nation or organisation has to continue do ethnic balancing in all considerations.
You either do it or perish.
Nigeria has refused to restructure and we have no minimum acceptable standards.
The MSS is definitely too low .
otherwise, this clown would not have gone as far as he has

very dumb post

Even with this, there will still be many problems.

Most people who commented on this thread did so with more of emotion than logic, many betrayed their frustration with Nigeria, thereby derailing the purpose of the thread.
1) No system of governance or government policy is perfect.
2) In a highly heterogeneous society like Nigeria, there is need to promote and ensure fairness/ equity.
3) The quotal system came about as an attempt to ensure fairness but like any other thing we copied from saner climes, we abused it.
4) quotal system has its merits and demerits.
5) There are two forms of equity; Vertical equity and horizontal equity.
6) Vertical equity is about unequal treatment of people who are not equal ,while horizontal equity is equal treatment of people who are equal.
7) Without deliberate policy of these forms of equity, where its most expedient, it will be difficult to achieve a Nation. Already great divisions in the country will be glaringly obvious and magnified.

Many people don't even know that representation in the National assembly and the United Nation is by quota system!
In Nigeria, every state is to produce 3 senators. Why can't each state conduct a senatorial election in which the first best 3 candidates (solely based on merit) are picked to represent their state?
Let's take IMO State as an example,if we just elect the first best 3 candidate as senators, its possible they all come from one town, let's say Mbaise.
However, by dividing the State into Okigwe, Owerri and Orlu senatorial districts in the spirit of equity, different zones are given the chances to be elected senators.

What you're talking about is called tokenism. An accepted practice internationally.
But its only in Nigeria that merit and competence are totally sacrificed on the altar of tokenism and ur so called ethnic balancing. The result is what we see today everywhere, and really, we aint seen nothing yet.

Tokenism sacrifices merit anywhere in the world where it is practiced, whether in the "civilized world" or backward Africa. The main reason people in the west don't talk about it about it openly is to avoid entering trouble for "hate speech".

Don't mind them oooo
Endeavour to visit any federal establishment today you will see them in all departments with either forged certification or a certificate stolen from someone and now one brat advocating against quota system.
Let an igbó man rent an apartment he will nearly frustrated the landlord while no one dear buy a land at their village.
Let his secure a shop in market square he will pursue all other tribes around and provide space for his.
Let him be your friend you will be infected with a virus that will let you see money as means and ends that you need in life.
Let him live amongst your people, he will not only denigrate your culture but also introduces absorbed ones and still fighting to ensure her total implications.
Take care of igbó in this country our problem is 80% solved.
Now can you diabolically support biafran actualization so that igbó can be done away with in ONE Nigeria?

Sorry but has RUSSIA &CHINA fail with their systems?
Capitalism has failed over and over again check all the economic meltdowns what is the cause? CAPITALISM
And why countries still use capitalism? because it gives the leaders such powers to use the state resources to enrich themselves. Check all bailouts where does it go? Definitely not to poor citizens

Russia does not look like a proper capitalist country, but instead similar to China - something in between Capitalism to Socialized State Capitalism.
The same way there could be a goldman sach in a capitalist state is the same way they could have sibneft in a socialist or quasi socialist, the only difference is that China will hang you for corruption.

..... brilliant post so far. But will the nepotist that litters this forum see sense in the tweet? However, functioning on a full regional system will solve the problem to a certain point. It means that each region will push the best brain to top in other to compete favorably with other regions. No region will love to be stuck behind, on like what is obtainable today. So don't cancel out-rightly the agitation for regionalism.

Even the so called regional system is part of the unintelligent solutions brandished about by individuals with little or no clue how the real world works.
Havent we practiced regional government before? Did it stop the massive corruption scandal of the western region in 1965?
Didn't you hear that the Kaduna Nzeogwu coup was motivated by wide spread corruption in the polity at the time? Was Nigeria not under regional governance then?

The solution to Nigeria's problem is Meritocracy.
A system of administration where you are defined not by your tribe but the contents of your head and character.
Under such administration, there will be no room for a militant that cant spell his name to have a say in the national polity.
If we do things by merit, we know the two tribes that will hijack every facet of our economy by default.
