It is quite an unfortunate event.

Ooni of Ife and Alaafin of Oyo are not just Kings;they are living deities. Nobody insults them without paying a huge price. This is just the beginning for Akiolu of Isale-Eko.

It's a very serious concern that despite the fact that lagoon with sufficient water surrounds the island yet fire could wreck havoc and destroyed traditional regalia of the monarch. The implication to my mind is that whenever we see Oba in his traditional regalia ,we should assume that he is fake as original is burnt !!!
na so...he should hand over his throne to his vice and go for lagoon treatment

Specifically Akiolu's oba's regalia ?
Then I guess now we know where the fire came from. Its safe to respect your seniors.Lobatan
There is this proverb in Yoruba "T'omode ba s'oko l'alagemo, ko ni ku, ko ni run, a pon laso bi aparo ni". Rough interpretation: "When a young child stones the [venerable] chameleon, he would not die nor fall sick, but will go about in dirty rags like the aparo (bush fowl/quail?)"...the Oba's regalia got burnt.

Just coincidence. Not all Yoruba take Ooni so important. He's the Ooni of Ife. Make we hear word! Abeg! Ife people should leave my Oba alone or else!!!

Your oba is a fool. On a normal day, he should be an ordinary baálè bringing ìshákólè to ile-ife.

I think madness was invented in nigeria. I just wonder about one thing: if the alafin was such a deity then how come his little kingdom was being overran by the fulani ? Did ife and/or oyo even fight against the british ? The Oba of Lagos is in no way inferior to your ooni and your alafin. It seems some people in the south-west are looking for war withing the south-west. You guys should calm down and shut your pie holes and learn to respect Kings other than yours ! you can't expect your own king to go to an other kingdom and basically call the king of that kingdom his subject ! You guys are starting to look like jihadists. I think we are witnessing the creation of the first traditionalist terrorist organisation. I love african religions but bleep fanatics.

When have the Oba of Lagos ever paid tribute to ife ?
Correction, the Oba of Lagos is not a fool, he is a very brave and wise man who knows his history.

I think you are a fanatic who has long forgotten logical thinking and history.
Lagos was part of the Benin empire untill the british seazed it. It has nothing whatsoever to do with ife. This arrogance of the ife crown is the reason why Oba Akiolu didn't want to shake his hand !

Ife people, next time you are chosing your king (apparntly that is what you guys do), make sure you chose one who is intelligent and has some knowledge of history. Your current king doesn't seem to know history at all.

1) I wasn't in agreement with the Oba of Lagos when he made a joke about politics and the lagoon. And I said it publicly and respectfully. I also calmed some of our igbo brothers and explained to them that the Oba was only joking and that he didn't mean it and that because of his crown he couldn't possibly appologize, if not he would. The Oba of Lagos is a very honnest and brave man, he is a good man.
2) I am supporting the Oba of Lagos (and Lagos by extension) because that is what familly members do, they support each other. And Edo people know their familly members.
3) You guys are also our familly members but some 419 chiefs are twisting your history in order to not admit that they are mere subjects of the Benin crown.

Toddler! You need to go and suck Mama's breast at home as you obviously lack the required intellectual capacity to make a meaningful contribution to the subject under discourse. One thing is certain- you're not Yoruba. You're not worth any response as doing so isl like glorifying your stupidity.
