Dear Good People of Nairaland, This platform has been a great source of reference for me as I apply for a Masters in Australia. My question: I have been given a conditional offer of admission to the University of Tasmania (UTAS) and as part of the conditions to be fulfilled, I was told to appoint a registered agent who will declare to a GTE SSVF Declaration form. I applied to the school personally, does this apply to me? Is it must that I still approach an agent even though I carried out the whole process myself? I anticipate a quick response from the gurus on here. |

Vatsyayana:Since you are referred to an agent by the school, no two ways about it. 1 Like |

obainojazz:Ok, I Wish you the best and successful outcome bro. Adelaide is fun and your PR sure as an international student with very little stress. Just be sure to have a course in the PR list, But if yours is not in the list, you can change when you arrive. 1 Like |

Hello nairalanders, am at a crossroad right now and I will need a critical evaluation of my situation on how to go about it or to just give it up. Me and My girlfriend who happens to be a permant resident in Australia want us to get married in Nigeria at the end of January/February. We have wanted to explore the Australia Partner visa but the most important requirement which is to live together for at least 12months is very hard to attain. She will return to Australia after the marriage and I will be here in Nigeria. (I don't know if am wrong on this requirement or there is another way around it) But with my little research, I was thinking we could explore the family sponsored visiting visa. This will give us the chance to live together to fulfill the the 12months requirements. Before the visiting visa expires, we can then apply for partner visa. In turn, I will be given a Bridging visa to stay in Australia till the partner visa application is finalised. Now, the problem is successfully securing the visiting visa. I only have a small business I run. It's not even registered, no travel history, I have no properties or substantial finances which are requirements for seeking a visiting visa. I want to ask if this method of mine is possible especially getting the visiting visa with my defenciencies OR there are other suggested methods we could explore? |

davidflipcy: Coming in through family sponsored visiting visa and then reapplying for a spouse visa would have been a great option but like you mentioned, you may not qualified as a result of not having sufficient evidences to show you will be a genuine visitor. If I were in your situation, I will allow the marry take place in Nigeria, apply for a spouse visa, then later apply for a visiting visa. In this case, you can't be in Australia when decision is made on your spouse visa. But then, you do have a chance to visit her while waiting on the outcome of your spouse visa. Or you can take a leap of faith by throwing in your visitors visa with the hope of a positive result then apply for a spouse visa while in the country. But again, I think they now have a rule were the main applicant is assessed first before their spouse. You need to look into that too. Ganbatte ne. 1 Like |

Please I want to know my best option, I studied building technology here in Nigeria (N.D and HND) but I'm thinking of studying in Australia. I'd like to study a lucrative profession/course there and I'm thinking of switching to Nursing and also finding an affordable school to study in Melbourne or Sydney. I guess I'd be applying as a post grad, can someone please help to suggest an affordable school within these places especially Sydney. How do I go about this? Do I go for TOEFL or is the school requirement will determine how I go about this. Can I get PR after studying? |
