laudate: Mr, where have you been in this country and I do not want to mention other countries, okay. Just name it. You cannot compare the economic impact the igbos have in this country based on number of people with other ethnic group. If you come to the north, apart from the indigenous hausas in the communities, name one other ethnic group that has any impact on their economy than the igbos. Is it in Kano? do you know that airport road, nomansland, sabon gari, some parts of badawa layout in kano are all dominated by igbos and check the level of businesses done in those areas, then you know what the igbos are doing there. Do you know that igbos compete favourably with the yorubas even in their own domain? Is it Lagos, Ibadan, sarki, akure, etc? Brother, apart from companies which they shared between themselves and gained so much economic advantage in the 70's, the yoruba have not in any dominated economic activities in any part of the country apart from their homelands. |

Develpeast: You don't get the point, do you? If your south-eastern states are so viable and prosperous, then why do most of your citizens migrate to other parts of Nigeria? If they have so much economic clout, and they have dominated the commercial landscape, then your people should not be crying about being marginalised. Simple! 3 Likes 1 Share |

laudate: The southeast is not less prosperous as their other geopolitical zones. The southeastern people are a people that are opportunistic in nature. They look for opportunity and if they find one, they make good use of it. Do you think the people living in the east are poor or wretched? they are not. there are quite a number of millionaires and billionaires in the east as we speak but when you look at it well, when the number of people doing your line of trade have been saturated, then there is a need to move. the movement did not start today, the movement started in the 80s. When the number of traders filled up the onitsha, owerri and aba markets, they started moving out. Most of these decisions were made during yearly end of the year meeting with brothers and kinsmen. they discuss about the places they have been and the opportunities there in, seeing that there might be better opportunities, the ones that think they are not making much profits follow their brother to the location while they take with them their boys who they later make owners of their businesses. the pattern continues to grow and grow until they filled up the different places you see now. That is the number of reason if you are an igbo man, they ask you if you have joined an 'otu', that is a group. so that you wont be lost about the happenings in the particular place you are staying. the igbos are marginalised because the facilities needed to expand their economic base are not present. they know they can achieve more if the amenities are present in the east but since they are not present and these amenities are present in other parts of the country, then they must feel marginalised. Because you can drink gari doesnt mean if there is an opportunity to eat fried rice, you will not eat it. The system has marginalised igbos because they are been strangled by the way the government runs it activity. |

slurryeye2: The ratios you have just enumerated shows that Yoruba are too weak to compete and create thing's for themselves. They look for easy wealth and already made societies to sneak into. You can't find your people in tough terains. You people are simply given to consumption and little productivity .No wonder the many malls Ibadan is said to contain. The owambe spirit is too pervasive. |

Don't blame on the sunshine, don't blame it on the moonlight, don't blame it on Awo, blame it on the boogie. Why blame Awo and Tinubu for all your problems? I'm sure the SE have received over #1trillion in federal allocation since 1999. All your Governors, house of assembly members, senators, reps, counselors were they afinjas or were they imposed on you by Awo who died three decades ago? We all have common enemies in Nigeria and the enemied are bad leadership and corruption. The Igbo must also learn to speak with one voice. I tell you this, Rocha's Okorocha was more known and more popular than osinbsjo in Yoruba land before 2015 elections yet the Yoruba's supported the relatively unknown osinbajo. If you have a chance to contest the 2019 presidential election who will your candidate be? Do you have s consensus candidate that is sellable across Nigeria? Will you speak with one voice? Until that day brother, until that day. 4 Likes 1 Share |

As we speak now the FG has built one mega city each in the west and north. Every big or novel development projects are sited outside the east or connect south west to north west. |

When the chips are down its gonna be your own people who will gat your back. Don't tell me you don't see all the hate and tribal slurs been thrown at the Igbos daily here. They are happy and rejoices whenever evil befall you. People that could condescend so low to the extent of mocking the deaths of millions of women and children that were murdered in cold blood by their forefathers. A people that have deliberately choosed to be blind to the pogroms that led to the war but instead choose to blame the Igbos for it. I can go on n on but there will be no need coz maybe you v choose to be blind to these injustice. Just a day on nairaland is enough for any smart discerning Igbo person to know that the hate is real but alas we must v to put with characters like Joe Idiotkwe and to some extent you |

amaridigital:This is what pisses me off so much about these Aturu ipobians. From the way they speak, you'd swear SE governors never got any federal allocations or whatsoever from 99. 90 percent of them are not holding the governors, senators, house of rep members responsible for anything, instead they'll go and blame the Yoruba or Hausa man like they held their FG allocations. Ok, they claim to be a very influential group, then why aren't they putting their people in power and trying to make a difference in SE?? No ooo all they do is have this delusion sense of grandeur and keep blabbing and blabbing over and over again. These guys are a joke. They are part of the reason why Nigeria is messed up just like every other tribe. Simple as that. I don't give a shit about any stupid Jewish ancestry. Truth is the truth and that is what will set us free. |
