Exactly 10 years after Nigeria surrendered the oil-rich Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroun, the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has depicted the move as a gigantic misfortune to the nation.

The Acting President who was speaking at a town hall meeting in Calabar, the Cross River state capital, however, guaranteed that displaced indigenes of the district will be resettled.

He said the Federal Government would see to the development of the Lagos-Calabar Rail to encourage economic development in the state and for the benefit of the general population.

“This (ceding of Bakassi) is a development that all of us consider a loss. But the President strongly believes that while we ruminate over the legal issues, we must not allow Nigerian citizens to suffer. The Federal Government is determined to do more with the displaced in Bakassi,” Professor Osinbajo said.

Ceding Bakassi to Cameroon was collusion between Gowon's government and Ahidjo's government in lure that Cameroon should block Biafra from receiving arms through Cameroon. IPOB is not setting up anybody.

That's a man Reno and Afonja are calling their Hero (OBJ). He surrendered a Nigerian territory to another country. Well, I am not surprise. Surrendering of territories is in their DNA. Kwara State as a case study.

What else do you have to lose south-south by joining the Igbo in our quest for freedom?

They ceded Bakassi to Cameroon due to Biafra's defeat.
