Hmmmm. VP Osinbajo's first two paragraphs are horrible.

Perhaps Buhari or even Idi Amin may be more modern leader than this Osinbajo.

The cyberspace is where modernity is articulated, designed and constructed.

So anybody afraid of, or against cyberspace, must return to the 19th century where the person properly belongs to.

What a professor!! What a lawyer!! What a SAN!! Osinbajo.

Internet was good for them when they were recruiting zombies all over the nation but is no longer good for the people to appraise their performance or failed promises. Does anyone realize that Osinbajo is as stupid as Buhari?

Lord, why are you punishing this nation with APC ? Please Lord, in your wrath remember mercy.

Exactly, why focus on the negative aspect of the internet when the positives outweigh it. Just like saying a highway should be closed just cuz there are armed robbers that operate there.
Honestly, if this is the stance this man wants to take then I've started disliking him.

Maturity is what is needed by Nigerian internet users. Americans abuse their leaders online too but you'll hardly or never see them cursing America, it always end in a "God bless America" posture.
Go through NL and other 9ja pages and you'll see your fellow countrymen praying and wishing the country falls/fails, name-calling and other unpatriotic utterances.

Which country grows with citizens with such mindset

It is so because Americans don't have a divisive daft and illiterate leaders we have in Nigeria who declared on CNN how to treat the 97% and 5% that voted for him, forgetting that the resources isn't gotten from the 97%.

Also,America offers all citizens equal rights and opportunities despite your state of origin, tribe and political affiliation. They don't neglect a particular region out of hatred, wickedness and sentiments.

They also put America first before any thing, while the dumb bleeps we have here put themselves, families and cronies first,second,third......without giving a second thought about the existence of others. That's why we see Nigeria and her leaders as idiots.

This dumbazz thinks that praying and wishing Nigeria to fail, name calling and unpatriotic utterance is what got Nigeria in this useless state that it is, I said it you're too stvpidd for my amusement. Talk about unnecessary bans, Maximum concentration on oil and less concentration on other sectors which awesome revenues could be generated like Agriculture, Education, health ( what will happen if other nation come to Nigeria for medical services while we charge them) tourism, ACCOUNTABILITY, MERITOCRACY and more and you are here thinking its some people's mere wishes that got Nigeria into this state. you are an Osibanjo..(a useless, brainless human being, a human that lacks the ability to think, a charlatten ).

The problem in the country is not the agitation of any ethnic group but the unity of the elite and the disunity of the masses.

How many times have you taken your agitation to question your local government Chairmen?

Why have you not asked your Governors through agitation how they spent bailout fund?

Why have you not agitated against that government official whose mansions you go to beg for help?

Sad to note;
All the Governors love themselves

Why can't you and I love ourselves?

A perfect example of the government trying to censor the internet, which means he wants us to listen to their own point of view rather than having a different opinion.
This message shouldn't be taken lightly, the government should not meddle in the internet to try to block us from information, rather they should upgrade their information delivery services to keep up with others, this message by AP threatens nairaland, FFK, IPOBexposedLoL, channelsTV, every media house should look into this.

But government is already on meddling with the internet.

Thanks a bunch I wish the old man's brain can assimilate all these beautiful points you listed. How can one compare U.S to Nigeria in such aspect. Personally I don't think there is any hope for Nigeria to ever progress. let them take a chance at referendum, any region, area that wants to go? let them go. Why did I say Nigeria will never ever progress? because the system is rigged, corrupt, rotten and have all the negative things to mention. The supposed leaders are there to stay, there's no equality, there's no law (except for the poor) and prime example is that an individual got years for stealing a phone while Saraki, Obj, Jonathan, IBB and all the senators are walking around and are being celebrated by some cretins. DSS is busy chasing 2face for his opinion, Soldiers are busy using the citizens that they were meant to protect for practices and abuse, police is out there planting evidence, robbing, taking bribes, extorting, renting guns to criminals and many more. NEPA has been sold, phcn continued testing peoples stabilizers, electronic gadgets and power surge protectors to see how long it will take before they burn them.

Can someone tell me one thing that is good about the Nigerian government?

The govt is just afraid that internet has made the citizens more exposed and wiser and have come to know their rights and what's expected of a good govt and the qualities of a wrong govt.

Above all, the govt now finds it difficult to control and manipulate the public unlike as it was before the internet era.

They can increase data price even censor sites and do worse but that won't stop people from Speaking against a tirant and wrong govt...

I know the internet users are quite guilty but on the long run the govt are really finding it hard to continue their stealing and corruption as long as everyone is connected online....

That's what I call progress, Nigeria will soon get there... cool

Nigeria would never become a China or North Korea, even if that is what you guys are thinking of doing to Nigeria - censor the Internet and shut the voice of truth. The same Internet that brought you in would kick you out.

Because the country is in total disunity. Leadership in virtually all the facets of this country is polarised and not based on merit. In summary, a lot is wrong for a lot of people to demand for an exit.

In a family if some members of the larger family are doing stuffs detrimental to their collective names, some of the smaller families that make up the bigger family usual do change their surname. This is the case of the present day Nigeria.

Guys, slow down. I'm no fan of this APC led administration as its filled with incompetent airheads. BUT I think the Acting President is referring to threats to our nation's cyber security, which is totally understandable, not internet censorship. These days everything's networked, from our basic appliances at home to our critical infrastructures (power system, telecommunications) with equally critical sectors like banking/financial services, security, etc tied to it. So it shouldn't be an issue if the Acting President calls on the military and security services to protect our cyberspace from possible attacks. The Americans have a Cyber-Command manned by the USAF, and every other serious country from Western Europe, Isreal, China, and even the Iranians take cyber attack threats serious.

Each stupid utterance from the "One Nigeria" elites simply gives more oxygen to those who want out.

Can you please not share this post which is purported to have been written by Professor Wole Soyinka. I don't believe it was written by Professor Soyinka. That learned man couldn't have used the word, "Ibo", for there is no such thing as "Ibo". It is "Igbo". I suspect that this rubbish was written by an enemy of the Igbo, primarily to create the impression that the Igbo are bad people whom nobody wants in Nigeria, whereas nothing could be further from the truth.

Next time the correct spelling is Igbo not Ibo which is a Yoruba contraption because they can't pronounce the 'gb' sound but rather call it 'Igbo'

Osunbade, we know you are toying with the idea of censoring the internet after you rode on its back to win your election but I laugh. This is not China. The day you try it is the day you lose all your allies in the West. Regulated internet means less money for Internet providers, FB, twitter, youtube Instagram, etc all owned by the west. Let see how you'll survive an insurrection when we rise against you and the west abandons you. I pity you. I really do.

My advice to the vp/acting president is that as a servant of God he is the lamp of the world and no lamp that is lit should be put under the table. If you stop the internet also stop the use of gsm. Unfortunately you are no diffrrent from your master always taking us back to dark days of ignorance. You cannot hide the truth forever which is that, there can be peace without justice. The northern elements uses the betrayal west against the east. This is a country that call black when they see something is white. Nigeria has a beginning and the end is here. It is only the truth that can set man free. Freedom is not bought, it is a gift from God. Please stop chasing shadow. You can only kill the messenger.
