If you read the charters of these registered Fraternities like the Pyrates and NBM, they actually have very noble philosophies. Sadly the realities are not the same. This is one of the reasons the Pyrates had to scrap all campus decks. Now you can only join upon graduation.

The thing is when you compare Fraternities in the West to those in these parts of the world, you can see how myopic and backwards we truly are as a people.
Please, don't ever lump the Pyrates Confraternity together with any cult group. What you don't know, you don't know but don't act like you know.

Restructuring the system of government as we have it today will have a large effect on more than just the government but also the people and our attitude in general.

Restructuring with same set of leaders and average Nigerian mentality is just a waste of time. These people always look for one english word to distract you all whilst time and years just go by. If it's not diversification it is restructuring. In a business environment, when do you restructure? You restructure when there is perhaps a new strategy to get new customers or win competition. Until, our leaders see and run Nigeria as an enterprise , we would be far from any development. I said in my posts about diversification that There are individuals with one stream of income but they have assets here and there and there are individuals with multiple streams of income but have nothing to show for it. Management is key. There are Nigerian companies that have just one business but pay their staff well whilst there are some multinationals whose pay aren't competitive. You have majority of costs as over heads. Any company whose management is not lean and overhead costs high becomes unsustainable in a short while. Liken this to Nigeria. I am sorry for the long stories but I think we have educated youths that should reason this way. If we say yes to restructuring, we should ask ourselves these questions:
What development strategies will the new structure align with?
What resources are the new structures going to manage differently?
What responsibilities will the leaders have?
We have been restructuring over the years, from the region model to the state model and creation of more states. Still nothing changed because we do not have SMART goals. Our minds are not in the right form to define the goals to start with. All of these have to be defined. Thank you.

An Open Letter to the NBM

“The of Africa is a socio-cultural organisation that seek to revive, retain and modify where necessary those aspects of African culture that would provide vehicles of progress for Africa and her peoples. The holds that a people can only progress rapidly by using and modifying where necessary such knowledge and instruments that has since distant past been familiar to them.

Apart from fighting to stop African culture from liquidation, the attempts to spread the message of the need for peace, respect and tolerance among various races of the world. For this reason the movement unequivocally condemns in every form racism and apartheid wherever it exists in the world.”

That is NBM in its own words. Apart from NBM not being involved in any activities that would fit the self-description above, they are rather known to be involved in a number of activities that contradict each and every word of it. So, dear NBM….

why do you claim to be a charity/movement while everybody in Nigeria knows what you really are?

why, if you want to be a charity/movement, don’t you just become one rather than continuing to be a criminal cult that lies about being a charity in public?

do you think there is any credibility at all in this as long as you operate a campus cult which has claimed way too many lives of students?

why don’t you get out of schools rather than just claiming to do so?

do you realize that you will never, ever get any credibility if you continue to be what you are?

why do you continue to preach “ruggedity” and “supremacy” when that is clearly part of the reason for all the atrocities?

why do you spend 36 years mourning Sharpeville massacre but never care to shed a tear for all the young people who have died because of you?
why do you whine endlessly about campus violence and how it damages your image but at the same time do nothing against it?

why do you value “ruggedity of Ayes” more than human lives?

what is all the money used for that you collect from your members? Is it only for supporting your members who are in prison, paying ransom for kidnapped members, and for financing black boogie parties?

how does it fit into your “humanitarian ideology” that most members of NBM are criminals who harm others?

how does it fit into your “ideology of equality of races” that most of your members consider it to be totally acceptable to steal from white people by means of 419?

how do you think anybody could possibly take you seriously, a group of grown men in yellow socks calling each other weird names?

how many more years do you plan to spend copy-pasting the same blabla about Soweto and Sharpeville over and over again – what is actually “neo” about this?

how do you think it actually “improves the image of black man in the world” when you export your crimes abroad and form rings of forced prostitution, drug smuggling, and scamming around the world?

Young Man relax. They are all the same.

I know a lot about the Pyrates. Infact more than I do any other group. I have been to most of your decks in over 5 states. Most of my friends are Pyrates. I almost became a pyrate until I started visiting your decks and seeing what was going on there and realised it wasnt for me (not sayong anything bad was happening there just not my thing).Just because your group has no Decks on University campuses does not make them better than the rest. And remember the reason for removing campus Decks was to rebrand the image of the group which has worked so far.

Strong Names in NBM

TOP 35 STRONG NAMES IN NBM ranked by popularity.

A so-called strong name is given to a new member of NBM aka during initiation. They come in many versions due to misspellings and intentional alterations of names which are however standardised in the list below.

To uphold human dignity and maintaining a just and progressive society shorn of discriminatory and unmeritorious considerations - Pyrates Mission Statement.

What exactly is wrong with this mantra?

What you need to understand is that these Fraternities are all modelled after Sea Piracy of old. They call their club houses 'decks', call their hierarchy after the same hierarchy on a Pirate Ship from Captain to deckhand. Their nicknames are normally after famous sea Pirates like "BlackBeard" and what have you. I don't know if Pirate ships had butchers on them but if they did then I guess that is where the title came from.

I think allowing University students join these fraternities really side tracked alot of them from their original purpose. I am not advocating for them just pointing out that the original idea behind the formation of some of these fraternities were not bad. You can read up the history of how the Pyrates Confraternity started as an example.
