Ikiriye:From my experience, warm/hot batts= Death of your batts=loss of your money. Quickly do away with that inverter, just my 50cent. |

life707, good advice again if only ikriye is listening. btw, i'm still waiting for info on those 1000ah solchen batteries you talked about sometime ago. |

George_D, Only one set of the 1000AH Solchen batt(NEW) is available now & the price(very expensive) hasn't gone down bcoz AGM batt price has refused to drop. will send you mail. |

life707, thanks, i've seen the mail. i'll keep my fingers crossed and hope they drop pretty soon. |

@life707 & georgeD thanks for your advice,i have thrown away the inverter for a mopower inverter.hope mopower inverters are good pure sine wave type. comment thanks |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fxseven(m): 8:58am On Oct 29, 2011 |
How can i convert ups to inverter? Anyone with idea? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by GeorgeD1(m): 9:02pm On Oct 29, 2011 |
fx-seven, remove the internal battery of the ups and install a bigger external battery then connect the output to your electronics. there, you have an inverter (or something similar). |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ameboperoo(m): 7:57pm On Oct 30, 2011 |
The problem is how to charge the battery when it runs out. The ups cannot charge such batteries |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by GeorgeD1(m): 9:50pm On Oct 30, 2011 |
yes, it can be done in either of two ways. as the ups charging system is not designed to charge such size of battery then: 1) an external charger can be added to the set up or 2) solar panels can be used to do the charging. or better still a combination of both-if money is not an object. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ameboperoo(m): 6:33am On Oct 31, 2011 |
I can build a charger to charge such batteries but my problem is over charging them. I don't know how to regulate the charge. This will require a special circuit. George_D: |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ikiriye(m): 12:27pm On Oct 31, 2011 |
@all i intend installing a 480ah battery bank but my inverter 900va mopower, i doubt mite not charge the bank.i also intend buying a smart 3 phase battery charger of 30/40amps.can it charge my bank without giving me problem. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by GeorgeD1(m): 6:27pm On Oct 31, 2011 |
ameboperoo, a battery charger without regulation is an accident waiting to happen. Besides it will kill your batteries in no time. better to get a reliable better charger or take time to improve on your circuit design. ikiriye, your mopower 900va is unlikely to be able to charge that proposed 480ah battery bank of yours. and unfortunately, that 30/40amps battery charger may not cut it either. you will need an inverter designed to charge such size of battery - if you really want to enjoy your installation. |

@george_D may be i have to look for cash and buy sukam 2.5kva i learnt dat can work on 4 200ah bank plz confirm. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by GeorgeD1(m): 3:24pm On Nov 01, 2011 |
ikiriye, you are right. sukam 2.5kva is designed to work with 48v meaning you can connect four (4) 12volts batteries (preferably 200ah types). 1 Like |

bigfat, its so nice of you to barge in here with your product. by the way what size of battery do you use with this 300w inverter and how long does it take to fully charge on a good day? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ameboperoo(m): 10:12am On Nov 10, 2011 |
Our 1.5kv inveter just got burnt. Can someone just recommend a good one that can utilise the 2nos 200Ah batteries? Price range will be appreciated. |

@George_D Good day Sir, I am now here in Nigeria. I wanted to ask where i could get those Zenith Deep Cycle Battery and what are their price range. cos importing battery from would be so costly. Ameboperoo: hello ameboperoo, you can upgrade to cyberpower inverters. a 3.5kva model of cyberpower will use two 12v 200ah deep cycle batteries and will serve you better. check out their website here: http://buyright.biz/productdetails.php?categoryid=c134&subcategoryid=&productid=p1137 the contact details are on the website too. |
