Ayodele Patrick Aderinwale MFR is also the Chairman of Justrite Limited which owns a chain of superstores in different locations of SW region. It has just opened another outlet in the Dopemu area of Lagos. industry watchers say the structure cost a fortune to acquire. It has been estimated to be N200 million naira, but taking into consideration its huge stock of goods, it is worth N2 billion.

Built on a massive land space, the structure has ample parking space. Constructed in the shape and structure of other branches, it is painted in the same colour of yellow and blue. It stocks all household items, edibles, cooking utensils, toiletries, provisions etc. Justrite was established in 2000 as a corner shop, but metamorphosed into its present size and location in 2006. With its' business focus as the aim of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed persons, it built its first outlet in Ota, Ogun State, another in Abule Egba, Ipaja Road, Alakuko and now it has added a new one in Dopemu.

Oluwatoyosi Ogunseye

The first and youngest female editor at Punch Newspaper Oluwatoyosi Ogunseye is set to receive the Young Leader’s Award from the Presidential Precinct.

She would be receiving the award alongside Madeleine Albright, a former U.S Secretary of State. The Young Leader Award is an initiative to recognize the contributions of exceptional talented leaders around the world.
Located in Central Virginia, the Presidential Precinct is non-profit organisation that seeks to empower the next generation of influential leaders through education, collaboration, and global networking.
In 2014, Oluwatoyosi Ogunseye was a member of the first class of Mandela Washington Fellows, the U.S. government’s Young African Leaders Initiative. Ogunseye and 24 other fellows gathered together for a six-week civic leadership institute.
The presentations will take place at an awards dinner at The Boar’s Head Inn Pavilion in Charlottesville, part of a two-day Global Leadership Forum at UVA on March 29 and 30.

Watch out for this talented Yoruba sister, she's going places. Standing on the same stage with Madeleine Albright, a former U.S Secretary of State is major

Please can you guys dedicate a sector to few pages and then another sector to few pages and so on

E.g Oil and gas - pages 1-30,
Fashion, entertainment, banking, education, insurance, technology, health etc and then we can include others like law firms, accounting firms etc

. .. We have gone a long way with this thread but then I think we need to organize these businesses... Laudate and Deomeelo can then moderate thread to ensure everybody that wants to post will follow the laid down rules

It's just a suggestion though... Don't mean to derail

Thanks.. Good job everyone... God bless

Nice suggestion, but how do we implement it? We have listed so many different businesses in no particular order in this thread, so how do we go back and regroup such firms into separate pages? How do we move them from their present locations on this thread, and regroup them into a separate location, or insert them into an earlier page? Can pages be moved or rearranged within a thread on NL? Is that even possible? undecided

Then we have also had to battle with the annoying spambot that knocks posters out of the thread for long periods of time. It really slows down a lot of stuff we can put up at any particular point in time. sad

I think the best way to go about it, is to have a contents page or an index page on the last page of the thread, so that businesses can be classified into groups with their corresponding page numbers inserted as a hyperlink, so that readers can locate them easily.

As for entertainers, actors, actresses etc, we had earlier agreed to set up a separate thread for them, as they are so many. wink A few had been featured on this thread, but we decided to stop, when it was starting to distract us from the objective of the whole exercise.

Historical figures would also be profiled on a separate thread too, so that people can do justice to the facts and info that is available on such legends. Hope this makes sense. undecided

We'll need to

1) create categories

2) Divide tasks amongst regular peeps

3) Divide tasks by categories and/or pages

It took me a whole day just to archive 30 pages on here. Mehnnn

The main question is, dow e really need to do this? If so, why?

Hopefully by this weekend I can create both facebook/twitter pages for Yoruba-owned industryies.

We had profiled them much earlier. Mojec was featured on page 68, page 122 and has now been featured again on page 271. undecided

Another meter company, Momas Electricity Meters Manufacturing Company Limited (MEMCOL) owned by Chief Balogun was also featured on page 159. There are just 5 meter manufacturing companies that are still active today, in Nigeria. The remaining ones have gone under or are yet to start operations. And the owners of 2 of the largest firms in this sector, come from the Southwest. wink

There is even a 3rd one, Unistar Hi-Tech System Limited, which is said to be a company jointly owned by a China-based company and former President Olusegun Obasanjo. undecided They got a billion dollar contract from the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), for the manufacture and supply of prepaid energy metres, in the country. Nothing has been heard about them till now. They seem to have been embroiled in a scandal of some sort.

Most people believe that the marble countertops, bathrooms, kitchens and other customised furniture manufactured by Segun Kuti-George's team at Goshen Multi Nigeria Limited, must come from imported slabs of marble & granite.

They are quite wrong, as the company sources all its marble and granite from local sources and quarry companies in Nigeria. It only uses well-cut locally mined stones, for all its' work.

In order to build affordable houses, government should encourage and patronise local manufacturing of building finishing products such as ceramics, porcelain, marble, furniture, etc which are currently being imported. This will, in addition, save scarce foreign exchange, boost employment and increase GDP among others. One company already producing cultured marble locally is Goshen-Multi Nig. Ltd., whose products compete neck-to-neck with foreign ones. Such should be encouraged through appropriate funding to encourage self-reliance in the building industry.https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/10/09/nigeria-needs-17-20m-housing-units/

Adedayo 'Dayo' Ojo initially had no plans to set up a radio station. He wasn't a broadcaster, had never worked for a media house, and he didn't particularly like the limelight. So he focused on a different aspect of the communication industry. He became the founder & Chief Executive of Caritas Communications Group. Caritas currently operates three companies – all focussed on diverse aspects of corporate communication, media and public relations.

Not content with just one firm, Dayo Ojo also established Proxima Energy Limited, an energy, oil & gas investments and advisory firm, as a pioneer director of the firm . But then things changed, and he ended up putting together City FM 105.1 an urban music variety station that targets the upwardly mobile community in Lagos, under one of his new firms known as Orpheus Communication Limited.

With over 30 years in the media and energy, oil & gas industry, Dayo's experience in corporate communication, issues and relationship management is unique. His expertise has been built in different multinational companies. He spent 15 years with ExxonMobil’s Nigerian affiliate, Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), before retiring in 2006 as a Senior Corporate Executive in charge of Government & Business Relations and Head of Abuja Office. Dayo Ojo was also responsible for setting up the Government Relations department of Mobil Producing Nigeria in 1996. Later, he was appointed a Vice President in Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (TRANSCORP) where he set up the Corporate Relations department. From there, he decided to birth the Caritas Group, and then established City FM 105.1 radio station in 2012.

But those who know Dayo Ojo are quite aware that he doesn't do things by halves. In order to put the station on a firm footing, he searched for a sharp accountant with a media background, to run the station. And so, he found Adedoja Allen, the pretty stylish fashionista with an intelligent focused perspective, whose hardwork has made City 105.1 FM radio station, a force to be reckoned with, in the media world. 'Doja Allen brought in a lot of changes in personnel and administration, which won the hearts of many individuals and corporate organizations, who now see the radio station as a good business to partner with, in their bid to capture the hearts of Lagosians.

Doja Allen won the City People’s Award for Excellence as the “BEST FEMALE CEO” of the year in 2015. Prior to that, in 2014 City FM 105.1 has bagged 4 awards, within a space of 3 weeks, giving credence to the assertion that hard work truly pays off. These awards include the Nigeria Broadcasters Merit Awards (NBMA), for the Best Radio Station in Lagos which was given to the City FM in recognition of their service delivery and strong listenership.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DF9e0v3ag88

She studied Mathematics at the University of Ibadan. She later proceeded to the United Kingdom for her Master’s degree in Business and Information Technology at Aston University, Birmingham. 'Doja Allen then worked for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), as an accountant and Telecoms Express in the UK. On her return to Nigeria in 2007, she worked with Asset & Resource Management Company (ARM) where she headed the Fund Account Unit, before taking up the job of the Managing Director of City FM in 2010. Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/02/city-105-1-fm-md-doja-allen-speaks-challenges-working-wife-mother/

Doja Allen also recently conducted an interview with Forbes Woman Africa correspondent, Peace Hyde, the British-Ghanaian TV personality and media entrepreneur who is currently hosting a 12-part series, titled Against the Odds with Peace Hyde,, on Pan African Business Channel CNBC Africa Channel 410, on DSTV.

She also established the City FM Media Academy to provide high quality training to aspiring and existing radio presenters and media professionals. The City Media Academy offers a wide range of courses in our three major modules:
OAP Basic - voice training and presenting
OAP Prime - production and scripting
OAP Plus - social media and marketing

City 105.1 FM radio station runs a wide variety of programmes, from entertainment, to news, information, urban contemporary music with the best local and international flavours, as well as educational content.

Pliris Mobile Nigeria Limited manufactures tech devices ranging from android phones to mobile internet devices, tailored to meet unique needs and requirements of its customers. Pliris also offers the Phone Tracker / Personal Security app which allows users to track their lost phones, and wipe off data remotely from it. But their flagship products are their custom made Google Android Smart Phones.

Pliris Mobile also offers a mobile advert platform as part of its services, to businesses and individuals who require instantaneous, cost effective and absolutely measurable consumer engagement messages, to be sent & tracked from a highly reliable platform. In addition to this, they also offer a Mobile Website Development service.

The founder/CEO of Pliris Mobile, Oluwafemi Alade, is focused on firming up the Pliris Mobile brand with a steady increase in the number of its handset users. In Abuja where Pliris Mobile has gained strong foothold, Alade's vision is to reconfigure the smart mobile handset market, with home grown contents and applications, that bear on the real needs of the Nigerian phone users.

The Pliris range of entire phones have dual SIM slots. Another option they possess is being able to switch from different kind of networks, from 3G to 2G. It allows users to lock their networks to a particular kind of network on their phones. Most of those new smart phones don’t allow users that flexibility.

Pliris Mobile was born out of a need in Nigeria. We researched and the answers we got from surveys and reviews, is what made us to design a phone that will meet the unique needs of Nigerians. When you acquire a Pliris phone, you get what we had researched over the years that you will need in a mobile phone. We would like to concentrate our research and development into power saving and efficiency, and also connectivity, when it comes to network, making a dual SIM and all that. We would think of compressing data when you are browsing on our phone, over there they are not thinking of compressing, because data is available to them.

The applications that we developed and embed in our devices, don’t consume as much power, and when they are at the background, they don’t consume as much memory. Also the kind of processors we are using, are not processors that consume so much power, we are using the MTK processors, they are very good when it comes to power efficiency, compared to the likes of Qualcomm and Samsung processors – these are very powerful processors and they consume power a lot. https://itedgenews.ng/2013/12/01/itedgenews-com-interview-13/

Dr. Adeyemi Johnson has a larger than life personality. It has been a tough week for him, as he divides his time between Uyo and Lagos, where he also doubles up as the Chief Medical Director of a state-of-the-art medical center, in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria. Explaining things in a way that our viewers will understand, he defines hypertension using the pipes analogy. It’s one I have heard before; it works every time.

Too much water pressure will destroy pipes – so goes blood pressure and the heart. The double load of communicable and non-communicable diseases, also ends up affecting the heart. Over fifty percent of the Nigerian adult population suffer from hypertension. He doles out advise on hypertension, as he usually does.

Our main culprits are diet, lifestyle and stress. The average Nigerian consumes 12 grams of salt daily which is wrong – a non-starter. Our lifestyles have become sedentary. The cycle of life in urban areas, early commutes to work and late arrival home, is a huge factor: we need to exercise more. Stress, he says, does not cause hypertension, but it will elevate blood pressure for those naturally predisposed, to it. It is a good thing, we did an episode on stress management. His analogies are fantastic – our viewers will see themselves in his stories.

The shoot goes well and as he departs, in a way unique to him, he says “I remember what I forgot – I forgot to mention the effects of alcohol”. Oh well, our day is tight. We’ll save that for the take home message script. https://www./hypertension-ronke-ekwensi-cipm

Not too long ago, Dr. Adeyemi Johnson led a team of 3 doctors at First Cardiology Consultants, to perform a clinical procedure on a 62 year old lady with extreme breathlessness on minimal exertion, and inability to climb stairs. She had a hole in her heart. A catheter was passed through the hole to close it up, without the use of surgery. The patient walked out of the hospital quite healthy, after she was discharged around 12 hours later.
