Gold was the first to notice the uninvited august visitor over my shoulders. With a squeal, she pressed down my head between her sweating breast as if to hide my identity but by then I reckoned it was too late as the intruder again gasped in recognition. And by the time I could rescue my head from Gold's bosoms, he or she had already fled.

“Gold who was that.” I whispered in apprehension she gaped speechless at the empty doorway.
“who entered just now?” I shouted at her this time.

“That was precious.” She finally said.

“Shiit shiiit shiiit! I cursed as I stumbled into my clothes. “Now you finally gotten me in trouble, are you happy now? I had a hunch all this was scripted but I was a fool to fall for it.”

“Don’t you dare put the blame on me bioye” she fired back tearfully. “you think I planned this to break you and Karen up?”

“Break up is the least of my problem right now, you think you’ll still have me by the time she’s done with my wretched remains?.” I sneered.

“I’m sorry, she was supposed to be at the annual summit, they’re all at the summit, she was not meant to be here.”

Ignoring her plea not to leave, I stormed out from her place with no sense of direction, I just moved. My mind was in turmoil, not for fear of what Karen would do if precious spilled her guts to which spilling na sure banker cos the girl can’t like me after the embarrassment I caused her at their stupid party.

I was actually scared of losing her, can you imagine after all the hard guy stuff I was actually in love with Karen.

The following week was torture, I felt like a death roll prisoner awaiting the day his execution bill will be approved, waiting for Precious to commit, waiting for kasala to burst.

Day after day as Karen was still Karen, I began to hope, maybe Precious didn’t actually recognize my coconut head as my face was cemented between Gold’s boobs that day. The latter on the other hand, I stopped receiving her calls and hope she got the memo, luckily all our jamboree had always been at her place so she had no way to locate my abete.

But alas, as I was beginning to hope, precious came through, I was mildly surprised it took the girl so long.

I had been avoiding Karen’s place like a plague in order to lessen the chance of me seeing precious eye to eye so as not to jugg her memory, na small flash back that winch need to align me with the dude dancing one-corner on top Gold. Karen on the other hand thought I was still pissed about our last argument tried her best appease me, if only she knew.

That day, she informed me that she would like me to accompany her to a friend’s birthday party. I said no with immediate effect, wanting nothing to do with her friends and foes whatsoever. She nagged, pleaded and threw a tantrum… I bluntly told her no, the stress I used in holding my cheek muscle in faking a smile for her snobbish friends gives me headache. In truth, I was not ready to face precious yet and Gold too. To my relief she gave up which was a rare thing and left for the party. Happy to be off the hook for the time being, I promised to make it up to her when she gets back and oh boy did she get back at me with a bang.

Later that day, I was copying down a course mate’s assignment and was busy putting the finishing touches to the editing so it wouldn’t look like it was the same when Karen scrolled right in. Valerie, Jude and Precious in tow.

She fvcking brought them to my place, there are levels of petty but Karen took her pettiness to a whole new level. I was mad at her, mad at myself for being caught unawares. And I was scared stiff…and a little relieved, finally I can get this whole anxiety behind me. I get to see if Karen finally used that cleaver, if that my nightmare came into fruition.

Karen held my glare with a shoulder shrug, like well…you don’t want to go see my friends, I bring them to you.”

“Well somebody is not happy to see us.” Jude laughed, as cool as ever.

“I just don’t like to be suprise visits.” I answered coolly.

“Aww come on Bj, don’t tell me you’re still grudging about the pap and akara day, we were wrong to have treated you unfairly, that was why we asked Karen to come see you.” Valerie cooed.

“Yeah so we officially came to apologize, as we assumed we were still the reason why you failed to show up at our party today.” Previous chirped in.

I looked wearily at precious as I stand aside to let them in, I was not at ease with the way she was acting all nonchalant…her sweet smile reminded me of a happy child presented with a roll of baba dudu and sisi pelebe.

I calmly played the host, putting out an outward appearance of ease to cover my nervous wreak, my mind was in turmoil. Should I be hoping she actually didn’t know it was me? But she could have told Karen by now if she knew, I mean its been two weeks already. Looking on the brighter side, she couldn’t possibly spill the beans right here right now cos at least Jude might save me from getting skinned alive, or he could just stand aside with his cool smile so as not to get blood on his immaculate dress ( the tall bastard)…those were exactly the words running through my mind I didn’t realize Karen had called my name five times already.

“I asked if we could step out and talk for a bit.” She said in exasperation.”

“Talk about what? Outside? okay yeah okay its cool.” I finally stammered as soon as I found my voice.....Okay now she wants to kill me outside without any witnesses, the funny part of my mind concluded.

“I’m sorry for bringing them here without telling you first, you guys started on a wrong foot and I feel its not cool that my best friends and boyfriend don’t see eye to eye, I also want to thank you for being cool about it and for being there for me…I know am not the best of partners and I can be crazy at times**chuckles* okay so maybe most of the time but I’m glad you’re still down with me…thank you for overlooking my worst to see the best in me instead, I love you.”

Now was a wrong time for this kind of soul surrender heartfelt speech. I was left in a worse state of condemnation cos I felt so damn guilt ridden, sick and disgusted with myself…why the hell didn’t she do this love declaration thing weeks before I met Gold. Just maybe I might have avoided playing ball within her inner circle instead or…Maybe not but either ways I was sick to my stomach with guilt. Pulling her into an embrace to stop her from noting the shame in my eyes I told her it was all cool and we’d better get back inside to our guests.

“Did you guys noticed Gold’s absence at the summit last week?” I stop breathing as soon as Precious started talking a few moments later as we gathered around a ludo board game.

“I heard she called in sick or something.” Karen answered over the rattling dice.

“Yeah right, sick my ass.” Precious snorted.

“Is there something you know that we don’t, girl you’d better start spilling.” Valerie shrilled, excited.

My heart rattled like the ludo dice with suppressed breath as precious looked me full in the face, a savage smile marred her pretty face.

(She’s knew it was me)

“who cares what she does with her time, not me though and why the hell are you talking about her here, yunno I hate her guts.” Karen snapped.

Suddenly my room felt small, I stood up to excuse myself, precious stood up as well and said she was out of airtime. Karen asked me to show her the way so she wouldn’t get lost in the area or worse kidnapped. (Let Motor car jam her for all I care) I thought as I agreed to escort her.
I held on to my last dreg of hope that just maybe she was just having a hunch and wanted me to confront her in order to confirm her suspicion. That hope shattered as soon as we were out of earshot with the next word she uttered.

“I know it’s you...bj bj you baad boy."

“What do you mean?”

“Oh please cut the bull, you and I know what we’re talking about.” She rolled her eyes.

“Then why are you telling me, I’m not Karen.” I answered resigned. “It’s your word against mine.”

She chuckled at this. “boy I observed you both for quite some time with my phone, gosh it was intense like you wanted to rupture her womb, I felt moist down there…my surprise at recognizing you drew Gold’s attention.

( my heart sank at this……She has a video footage)

“Okay what’s your deal? Is this some kind of payback for insulting you at your stupid get together?

“Temper temper Bj.” she cooed. “I not confronting you to gloat....but rather come to a decision to avoid all sorts of fracas per venture this footage gets into the wrong hands.”

“You want to blackmail me.” My voice was hoarse as it dawned on me. “I have nothing you don’t already have, I’m no rich kid.”

She simply smiled sweetly up at me, a manicured finger tapped her rosy cheek. A raised eyebrow…

(No! no!! no!!!)

“I can’t give you what you want.” I growled. “you’re Karen’s best friend.”

“But that didn’t stop you from banging Gold.” She sneered.

“They weren’t friends and besides, it’s complicated, I was actually there that day to end it all… I’m nobody’s boy toy, damn the consequences”

“Now you wanna go all responsible and shiit on me, Karen herself sold you out there to us, bragging about you and shiit, Gold has testified, I have seen with my own eyes so it’s only fare to want a piece of the pie. If you want the tape deleted you have to agree to get down on me too that’s my price, take it or your girlfriend sees it.”

“It never ends, blackmail. How am I so sure you will keep your end of the deal.”

“oh baby boy you’re in no position to bargain right now, but as long as you give me what I want to my utmost satisfaction then we’ll have no problem.” She cooed as she traced my pursed lip with a finger.

Disgusted, I snatched away her hand from my face as she laughed and swayed away from me. For the first time in my twenty two years on earth…I was not aroused by a woman’s touch, I hated myself and the cheating habit that landed me into this dilemma.
