They are not serious atall...infact I didn't bother reading this shit because only God knows where Nigeria is heading to in so many areas and even if I went to a federal university that doesn't strike, that won't stop me from giving my future children best education anywhere in the world. Some private university teach better, infact train better than public, strike major problem. It's better they stop belittling private universities that are trying. Work hard and pray for Great future. 1 Like |

After reading some comments here and several other comments in different fora, I realised we have a serious problemI highly disagree with your 4th point sir, my dad is a civil servant and he earns more than that if you ask me. He deprives himself of so much sending me to a private university. We feed well too to the glory of God. Don't you dare utter such statement again sir. And he doesn't make any money aside his salary, he does proper saving so it doesn't tell much on the familys well being. He doesn't steal. I bet you, if he steals from work I would have been schooling in the UK from my secondary school. Proper planning equals good output. Thank you 2 Likes 1 Share |

Tj70: Only a person who is not smart would depend solely on his salary in this Nigeria. That people have multiple sources of income doesn't mean they are stealing. And I've met a lot of folks in private schools who are not even financially buoyant. And there are a lot of rich kids driving nice cars in public schools as well. 1 Like 1 Share |

Many people disagreeing with the man are just taking sides with their guardians and parents. Anyone doing business or any other work aside farming with civil service is CORRUPT because it's illegal. From the salaries and loans, sending to private universities or abroad may not be a wise choice. My uncle is in the health sector and his wife also, the salary is small. The loans have range, your salary determines the loan you get the higher your salary the higher amount you can loan. Until all TOP civil servants and Politicians have their kids in government schools, then there is no hope. |

TheVictorious:Good to hear from you again jare. That is the problem! They treat private universities as alien institutions and that shouldn't be. Most private universities aren't getting research support or anything from government. We need to start seeing private universities as we see public universities. By the way I need to ask. Is the canaancity project for winners members only? because i may know someone that wants to buy |

I guess u asked d question as a result of u not believing the possibilities of it happening....tho I replied u to educate u and not to engage in any form of arguments..... I don't need you to believe hence m not here to convince people.... Just to correct a wrong notion That civil servants that sent their children to private universities stole public fund to be able to achieve that |

Statsocial: God bless u for this comment. These lecturers are inhuman, they consider their personal interest above the interest of the nation. If they want to join politics so that they can pay themselves, then they should go ahead and not continue paralyzing our education. I know farmers and teachers who squeeze through thick and thin to ensure their children go to schools that will be value added to their wards. Am even sure he has all his children schooling abroad sef. If it pain him, then let him go and take his children to private school. 1 Like |

mykel25: Hope you know doing any other business as a civil servant besides farming is against the rules because it will most likely affect your productivity. But that isn't my concern. What I want you to understand is that there are exceptions. Maybe your family is one of the exceptions. We are interested in the majority which unfortunately is as opined by the ASUU chairman. That I find it difficult to believe does not mean you are lying. My logical mind just thinks the odds are too high for it to be true. |

Just to set the record straight regarding salaries of lecturers in Federal Universities. The salary scale is not hidden - it is set by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC). It is available on their website for all to see. Summary: A PhD holder without any academic/research experience or publications is usually employed at the rank of Lecturer II . With prior academic/research experience or publications, you can be employed at the rank of Lecturer I . After 3 years on rank Lecturer I and meeting the requirements of your university for promotion, you move to the rank of Senior Lecturer. Total Emolument, which includes academic allowances and rent: (All figures are before deductions such as tax, pension contribution, etc) Graduate Assistant (CONUASS 01) - Entry level for graduates with a Bachelor's degree Minimum salary = 105,281 Naira per month (i.e. 1,263,377 Naira annually) Maximum salary after 6 years = 120,647 Naira per month (i.e. 1,447,767 Naira annually) Assistant Lecturer (CONUASS 02) - Entry level for Master's degree holders Minimum salary = 120,922 Naira per month (i.e. 1,451,071 Naira annually) Maximum salary after 8 years = 146,241 Naira per month (i.e. 1,754,902 Naira annually) Lecturer II (CONUASS 03) Minimum salary = 137,459 Naira per month (i.e. 1,649,509 Naira annually) Maximum salary after 8 years = 164,970 Naira per month (i.e. 1,979,640 Naira annually) Lecturer I (CONUASS 04) Minimum salary = 173,332 Naira per month (i.e. 2,079,995 Naira annually) Maximum salary after 9 years = 223,667 Naira per month (i.e. 2,684,010 Naira annually) Senior Lecturer (CONUASS 05) Minimum salary = 257,625 Naira per month (i.e. 3,091,505 Naira annually) Maximum salary after 13 years = 371,292 Naira per month (i.e. 4,455,506 Naira annually) Reader (CONUASS 06) Minimum salary = 314,018 Naira per month (i.e. 3,768,221 Naira annually) Maximum salary after 10 years = 417,062 Naira per month (i.e. 5,004,750 Naira annually) Professor (CONUASS 07) Minimum salary = 381,695 Naira per month (i.e. 4,580,349 Naira annually) Maximum salary after 10 years = 501,680 Naira per month (i.e. 6,020,163 Naira annually) So what it basically means, a lecturer must become a Professor of at least 5 years before one can officially (i.e. what is on your payslip) earn more than 400,000 per month (after tax, pension deductions, etc). 1 Like |
