The Romance That Is Consumerism: Five Consequences Of An Angle. by Nobody: 5:25pm On Sep 04, 2017
Consumerism can be likened to romance since it is a form of obsession or attachment to something or someone. If you want to buy the latest model of a phone brand, you are consumeristic. Using this thread, I'll discuss five ways in which consumerism teeters on the negative.

1) You Can Never Be Satisfied

A consumeristic person can never be satisfied since major product brands produce novel/new models/products within a year. These new products promise better specifications that a consumeristic person will be tempted to try out. Satisfaction for a consumeristic person, once again, is a difficult objective; an almost unattainable feat!

2) Your Happiness Will Be Short-Lived

For a consumeristic individual, happiness will be fleeting since such a person places happiness on an endless pursuit of material things in an era in which he or she yearns for a newly released model of the iPhone, for example, not long after acquiring one model.

3) You Put A Strain On Finance

It is no news that being consumeristic puts a strain on one's financial confidence since you, unavoidably, use money in your consumeristic bid. You want to purchase the latest Gucci bag?(I'm not talking about the fake Gucci stuff being elevated by self deceptive rogues here on the streets of Nigeria) You need money to do that. You want to buy the latest model of Samsung phone, you need some money.

4) You May Miss Out On More Important Goals

In life, there are important and less important goals that people strive to achieve. You may think the importance of a goal is subjective but many more people will agree that having one's house, car, helping others etc are life's important goals. Some people are so consumeristic that they only curse themselves after straying in the wilderness that is consumerism.

5) You Might Be Involved In An Illicit Act

In a bid to keep up with the flow, you might be caught up in an illicit act. From stealing to being in great debt in such a way that every knock or call sends you into great pangs of sadness.

Lalasticlala, what do you think?
