These statistics are actually quite damning to those who know how to properly interpret them. This "recovery" is driven almost entirely by a slight improvement in the price of oil (driven by Saudi output cuts) and the cessation of bombing in the Niger Delta, with the non-oil part of the economy continuing to suffer under the strangulating currency policies Buhari has mandated to "defend" the Naira. In addition, a 0.55% growth rate is not enough to even keep Nigerians' income per capita stable, as the population is growing at about 2.5-3% per annum; what this number really says is that per capita income continues to fall at a rate of -2% per year. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

I knw some smart alec will come here and say "yes it is true" people who dont believe it are ignorant of the word 'recession'.My question is what does it really mean to come out of recession when it is not reflecting in the lives of the populace? What is the point of graduating with a 2.1 in electrical engineering in Nigeria when you dont know the difference between the red and black wire? |

Good development. Truth be told Osibanjo contributed a lot to improving the economy, but it's still Bihari's administration that gave Osibanjo- a technocrat- the opportunity to so do. Kudos to both. It will however take some time for the development to reflect in the life of the average Nigeria especially considering that fact that anything that goes up in Naija never comes down. 3 Likes 1 Share |

What is Buhari waiting for to remove Kemi Adeosun? She lacks the experience it would take to take Nigeria out of recession.. The mistake of giving her such an obviously "too heavy" office has been made but Buhari should be humble enough to seek capable hands to replace her. She may mean well but she's obviously too inexperienced for that office. Why can't Buhari drop his pride and hatred aside and shop for a capable hand even if it means an igboman or woman? I never see this kind one before.. 2 Likes |
