Having read and benefited from many free articles on and off Nairaland on both crops and animals production in Agriculture. I decided to give it a trial sometimes back in August 2017. However, I make sure I bought a manual on watermelon (I had never farm it before, so my experience with it is zero. Also, I left farming many many years ago after secondary school.) that I had been religiously following.
In July, I got 1/8 of Hectare of land allocated to me by College of Agriculture in my university, I applied and paid sum of #5000 for one year period. My intention was to use the experience to re-familiarise myself with farming procedure. The full diary about that experience is available here

So, on this thread, I will be detailing all my experience on two acres of land I just acquired. The two acres will be split into two, one for intensive watermelon farming and the other for yam production.

Below is the land before clearing.

isn't watermelon the best fruit to grow? You get to see the reward of your labour in less than 100days

You are correct, when I saw small ball of watermelon on that pilot farm at about 34days old after planting. I was elated. The feelings is just like childbirth.
