****Moderators plizz back off, am only asking a question****

I am kinda concerned as the Nigerian Military bases and college are based in the north for the most part and if there is some form of unrest in Nigeria, the north basically has us on lockdown.

ALl of the military bases in the south are not self sufficient, all rely on fire power/ resources from Kaduna/Kano

Most of the ex-military leaders are all trying to stick thier smelly asses back into naija poltics, where is the conscience of these politicians?? When IBB and ATIKU have a bright political future in 2011, wat does that tell our jobless and educated youth, that they also have a shot with scraping all the icing on the national cake? shocked shocked

It is not right. These political/military leaders do not represent the average, suffering hausa man, who is in the same situation as every other Nigerian.

Is it right to blame the captain of a ship for a mishap onboard?
Is it right to blame the CEO for his company's poor performance?
Is ir right to blame a teacher for consistently producing poor quality students?
Is it right to blame an executive governor for most of the mess in his state?
Is it right to blame the head of state/president for not fixing the country with a vision?
Is it right to blame a section of the country that has consistently produced most of the rulers of this country for our current woes

Guy, you are correct. They are just trying to cut themselves off now because the core hausas have turned against them too. Danjuma was among those who killed Aguiyi Ironsi; Danjuma was among those who killed so many igbo officers during the 1966 counter coup and mutiny; and somebody is trying to call another person a slowpoke for referring to TY Danjuma as a northerner or hausa man. Danjuma was among those that spearheaded the civil war where millions of igbos were killed. Gowon, Danjuma, Damkat Bali, Joe Garba, Buhari, IBB, Abdulsalam, Shagaya, Victor Malu, David Mark, etc are the same people, AREWA.

You need to reconsider that 100%. Yes, the army consists of Northerners and Middle Belters, but you will be shocked to find that some in te core North consider the Middle Belt to be Southern Nigeria. Witness an article published on Sahara Reporters by a Turai boy;

He did all he could legally and otherwise to stop Goodluck from becoming acting president. When he failed he left the country because he probably couldn’t stand working under Goodluck. Guess who it was? A northerner? NO! It was Aaondoaka. A man that was not only southern, but was as southern as any southerner can be. SO HOW DARE THEY CALL IT A NORTHERN CONSPIRACY?

Do you need better proof?

Oh yes! It is very wrong to call Middle Belt people Hausa, the Hausa's consider them to be Southerners. Abeg, lets welcome them to the South.

IBB - Gwari
Abacha - Kanuri
Danjuma - From Plateau state, not sure of his tribe, but not Hausa
Atiku - Fulani
Turai - Fulani

So who's the Hausa you're blaming for your woes?

The earlier people know the difference between Hausa and northerners, the better.

This war raging in Nigeria is not about north and south, it is not about Moslems or Christians and it is also not about Jonathan- the Baba Suwe looking Ijaw man.
This Abuja power game is just all about hunger for power- the power to control the purse of the crude oil of the Old East/Midwest. It is a fight between the old Kaduna mafia vs t he new wannabe mafias represented by Jonathan. In the past, those wannabes are quite happy to take whatever they are given, but they seems to have grown their own wings and want to fly like the old masters themselves. But once push comes to shove, they always has a way of settling it among themselves through sharing all that is around the purse and they will shout that peace is here at last and the rest of Nigeria idiots will jump and punch the air in euphoria as the selected rogues laugh behind their backs.
In the old days, by now marshal music must have been singing on FRCN and other radio stations and with a half baked educated northerner in a khaki yapping on as to how he loved Nigeria, and he can’t continue to watch as thing comatose, while what he actually meant was,, it better when there is few of us around the purse with the gun and then calls the shots. And then the so called elected/unelected democrats will immediately be falling on top of each other as they fight for positions around the oil purse. And one of the numerous lawyers with SAN attached to his name will forget the constitution and law, to become attorney general, ever happy to write, defend and interpret the junta’s new decrees. The chief judges will look the other way round and swears in unelected men with guns and tanks.
But things have really changed. Their inability to suppress the oil bunkerers called the militant has educated them that any more marshal music will not be welcome again and even the militant will fight them. So let those that think that everyone is now so committed to democracy to think again, because, last Wednesday episode at the Abuja airport in the dead of the night as they smuggle in Mr Yar Adua is sample of the bottled intent.
Again, I feel sorry for the ever deluding patriotic Nigerians- unfortunately, this raging fight is not about you or your welfare and soon enough a big distraction as always used by these selected few is just around the corner- THE FOOTBALL WORLD CUP. Who cares about Yar Adua when their is a Messi and Ronaldos of this world on telly. Yar Adua might even get up and watch, like he watched the African cup of nations recently with tubes all over his body.

Much as I hate to engage in arguments that border on 'this or that ethnic group/region is the problem of Nigeria', I think the poster can be educated.

Okay now, let's assume that by Hausa, you mean north in general. I personally don't think the north is the problem of Nigeria. The South is as guilty as the north.

Now, let's dwell on teh common arguments usually used against teh north.
It's oversimplification to say because they have ruled Nigeria more, then they are the cause of all our problems. We did not fare better under Obasanjo.

We easily tag the northerners lazy, corrupt, quota-system dependent etc, as if the southerners are saints. The South has been known to produce as many thieves as the North. For every Saminu Turaki, there is an Ibori; for every IBB, there is an Obj. Similarly, we have had strong anti-corruption voices from the north. For every Gani, there is a Balarabe Musa, for every Femi Falana, there is a Umar Dangiwa.

Another problem with many southerners is that a genuine national struggle is hijacked and regionalized, and that is why they usually lose. MKO Abiola won all through Nigeria, north, South, East, West in 1993, but when the struggle to get him his IBB-denied mandate began, the West think, Abiola being their own, they can win teh struggle alone. And they lost. The same thing is happening in teh current Yar'adua crisis. People easily forget that northern leaders and activists like Shagari, Buhari, Najaatu Mohammed, Balarabe Musa, Abubakar Umar etc are all leading voices against Yar'adua's rape of constitution. Yet, those of us down south here easily say the north is to blame for the current problem., for no other reason than YRD is a northerner. In fact, we even forget that the man that foisted YRD on us is a Southerner.

I don't subscribe to the argument that the north, Hausa/Fulani or whatever name we call them are the problem of Nigeria.

PS: When one northerner tried to shift the blame to the south too, through one article titled "Southerners are Politically Naive and Myopic. . .", I gave it hot to him too.

Why do people from the Southern part of Nigeria like to exonorate themselves from the problems of this country? I do not understand why I and my brethren should be blame for failure of governance while we all suffer from the same affliction. History will vindicate us, now that there were 8 years of OBJ and probably 8 years of Jonathan and we shall see what different will they make.

Nigerians, irrespective of the regions they come from, they have questionable character. As individuals, we may be achievers, but we are not good for team work. Typical family business, brothers will be scheming and counter scheming against each other, let alone when you are pitched against people of different ethnicity.

And by the way--

IBB - Gwari
Atiku - Fulani (not Hausa/Fulani)
Danjuma - Jukun
Yar'adua - Hausa-Fulani
Abacha - Hausa - kanuri

I think we are misunderstanding ourselves here. That am from the south do not guarantee my support for the ills of my pple but if we are very conversant with the history of Nigeria from inception to date you will agree with me that we are marred with foundational problems which was occasioned by a group who thought that championing sectional growth as against that of totality is the way forward.

Pple, THE WAY FORWARD IS IN THE WAY BACKWARD WHERE WE INITIALLY MISSED OUR WAY. by Sir Ahmadu Bello. Sardauna.

For the records i am one voice that have lonely been championing tourism growth. OPERATION KNOW NIGERIA CAMPAIGN. If i do this, i do it because i believe that the project Nigeria must be actualised irrespective of the huddles we pass, but please lets accept our past mistakes and make amends for posterity purpose. Lets re-brand ourselves and focus more on concept initiation rather than wallow in denial of the obvious

I would have called it a bluff if someone had told me that this arrant walk-off from inherent delusion could have been manifested by the dilapidated gray-matter that belongs to the original poster.

I guess that it is the idiocy in you that has severally propelled you into writing blasphemously against Ndigbo and other well meaning southerners who saw the diabolical schemes inculcated into the formation of Nigeria by the British and attempted to resolve them in 1966. You should also include your father, uncles and brothers in the construct of such skewed concerns when next you felt goofy enough to write.

While should an intellectual dimwit such as you question your godfathers about military installations in the cesspit called Nigeria while forgetting they are the same dupers that granted you and your forbearers the abandon property in Port Harcourt, Rivers States.

As far as I am concerned in today’s Nigeria, I will very much rather relax with northerners than with certain cross section of southerners.

I get the point that you are trying to make but please, do not compare Balarabe Musa to Gani. How many Northern progressives were jailed and hunted by IBB and Abacha like Gani, Beko, Falana, Soyinka, Agbakoba were? To my knowledge, Balarabe Musa and Col Umar were never jailed incessantly. It is easy to criticise your brother (IBB & Abacha) when you know that he would just ignore you. I applaud Musa and Umar for their progressiveness but they did not experience the same treatment as their southern colleagues.

You say you get the point that Jarus was trying to make on the one hand, and admonish him on the other, not to compare Northern progressives with Southern progressives such as Beko, Falana, and others. Why not? Jarus' point that there probably exists progressives in the North in as many numbers as there are in the South remains valid.

Does being jailed make one more of a progressive than others who have not experienced jail? Please explain your point because its not yet making sense to me.

Sometimes the truth needs to be said. Northern Nigeria has more in common with their coup happy brothers in Niger than they do with peaceful southerners.
