Francis Uzoho has really been impressive so far for Deportivo... Love his composure, love his confidence, love his footwork... This guy is gonna be huge for The Super Eagles in years to come... We have never lacked Excellent Goalies... This new Rising Golden Generation of Nigerian Football needs her own long term world class goalie as Ikeme and Enyeama are not for the long run and Ezenwa, Akpeyi, and Ajiiboye are not world class materials as they are all at ages where growth cannot be that rapid anymore....

OUR HOPES NOW LIE IN THE LIKES OF UZOHO (2013 class), ALAMPASU (2013 class) AND NWOKOLOR (2013 class who never made it into the main side as he left for trials abroad)... And even Akpan David Udoh (of the 2015 U-17 class) in Israel... More Exciting times ahead... wink

Nigeria Rio 2016 Star Sadiq Umar Starts For Torino In Place Of Injured Andrea Belloti

Sadiq Umar will play his first game for Torino later today from the start when they take on Crotone, the team he was also close to joining in the summer when he left Roma on loan.

Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal that the forward who was top scorer for Nigeria at the Rio 2016 Olympic has been selected to start by coach Sinisa Mihajlovic as replacement for injured star forward Andrea Belloti.

Sadiq is yet to play a game since joining Torino on loan from Roma in the summer, and the game against Crotone will afford him the chance to show the club fans the reason why the club beat off competition from their opponent to sign him on loan .

Last season he failed to score during an injury hit loan spell with Bologna, a fall from his breakthrough season at Roma where he scored three times from eight games in his first season at the club following his move from Serie B side Spezia.

He made the headlines in pre season when he scored a late equaliser for Roma in a 1-1 draw against French giants PSG after coming off the substitute bench.

Leon Balogun Not Getting Games At Mainz 05 After Refusing To Sign Contract Extension

The curious case of one of the best defenders in Africa Leon Balogun not getting games at Bundesliga side Mainz 05 has provoked an explanation from German Journalist Roland Mark.

Balogun was once again left on the bench yesterday when Mainz 05 defeated Hamburg 3-2 in league game, meaning so far he has only played three league games out of the 8 games played so far.

He has played only in games against Bayern Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Hoffenheim with a total of 270 minutes under his belt since the start of the season in Germany, same game time he has had for Nigeria in one months of World Cup 2018 Qualifiers.

” It is connected with his contract. The club are already planning for life without him, which could be next season with his contract set to run out this next summer, when he will be away at the World Cup with the senior national team of Nigeria “, Mark told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” It’s no secret that he is one of the best defenders in Africa at the moment judging by his performances for Nigeria during the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers, yet he has refused to sign an extension at the club.

” I don’t know if the club offered him an extension but I know he hasn’t signed one yet. Hopefully he will move to a club befitting of his status next season after the World Cup “, Mark concluded.

Francis Odinaka Uzoho (Deportivo LA Coruna): He justified the reported chants and outcry of the Deportivo fans days and weeks before this game by posting a shut-out in his very first LA Liga game smiley

Uzoho finished as Whoscored Highest rated player in the game which saw His side Deportivo earn a hard fought goalless draw against Eibar away from home.

What a fine way to make an entrance Uzoho... wink I think we have just seen the baptism and Big stage first competitive audition of Nigeria's next rising World class Goalie... Hoping Alampasu and Nwokolor follow in his footsteps and hoping Rohr opens up a new chapter in his players' monitor directory and pen the name, "Francis Uzoho" grin

From third choice to a first start in one of the World's biggest leagues. What a story! Well done and keep it up Francis! Keep your head down and keep working hard... This is just the beginning. I think we have Nigeria's answer to Cameroun's Onana.... wink Hoping Alampasu and Nwokolor can be Nigeria's answer to Cameroun's Ondoa and Burkina faso's Herve Koffi respectively... grin

In African football history, Nigeria and Cameorun have always produced Africa's finest Goalies.... Another generation is about to further resume that same rivalry.

John Ogu Open Goal Account In Spectacular Fashion For Hapoel Be’er Sheva

Super Eagles power playing midfielder John Ogu scored his first goal of the season for Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva in their 3-1 win away to Hapoel Raanana .

Ogu robbed an opponent off the ball to instigate an attack for his team, he received a low headed pass onto his path and he finished powerfully with a low shot from the edge of the box.

His goal helped his team to seal a comfortable 3-1 win despite going behind in the 58th minutes through a goal from Shimon Abuhatzira, but goals from Isacc Cuence and Amir Khalaila put them ahead before Ogu rounded it up.

29 year old Ogu has now scored in all of the four League seasons he has spent in Israel playing for Hapoel Be’er Sheva, the team he joined from Portuguese side Academica.

So far he has played in all of the five league games they have played this season, and also the 8 games they have played on the continent where they campaigning in the Europa League after failing to qualify for the Champions League via the play-offs.

Ex Nigeria U17 Goalkeeper Uzoho Makes La-Liga Debut For Deportivo La Coruna In Style

Former Nigeria U-17 goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho made his La-Liga bow for Deportivo La Coruna In their 0-0 draw against Eibar.

Standing at an impressive height at over six feet tall, he impressed with his handling of the ball and distribution from the back although he wasn’t tested by the front line of Eibar.

Uzoho who was a part of the Nigeria U17 team to the 2013 World Youth Championship in the UAE joined the team last season from the famous Aspire Academy in Qatar.

The 18 year old has grown in leaps and bounds since joining the team particularly last season when he made the step up from the youth team to the first team after just a month at the club.

His rise led to having several training sessions with the first team last season, and finally earned him a spot in the first team for their pre season tour, where he made an impression.

He kept a clean sheet in the two games he kept for the team in their pre season games, and got himself promoted to the role of second choice goalkeeper of the team.

Arsene Wenger Explains Why Jack Wilshere Didn’t Replace Iwobi In Loss To Watford

Manager of Arsenal Arsene Wenger has revealed the reason why Jack Wilshere didn’t come on in place of Alex Iwobi in their 1-2 loss to Watford in the English Premier League.

Arsenal took a first half lead through Per Metesacker, but Watford drew level from the spot in the second half before a late goal in stoppage time from Tom Cleverly condemned them to a 1-2 loss at Vicarage road.

Manager of Arsene Wenger was about to bring on Wilshere for Iwobi with scores at 1-1but later had a change in mind, which the manager told the official website of the club Arsenal.com that a calf injury to Laurent Koscielny made him have a change of mind.

“I wanted to take Iwobi off and they told me that Koscielny had to come off because of his calf,” said the manager.

“When I wanted to bring Jack on for Iwobi, it was our last sub and Koscielny could not go on, so I had to change Koscielny and bring a centre back on. That’s what happened.”he explained.

IGHALO BRACE SAVES CHANGCHUN YATAI FROM GUIZHOU ZHICHENG UPSET
By Femi Badmus

The 28-year-old took his Super League tally to 14 in 25 games this season with a brace against Gregorio Manzano’s men

Changchun Yatai picked up their second win in three games as Odion Ighalo scored twice in a 3-2 away victory over Guizhou Zhicheng.

Lee Jang-soo’s men were held to a 0-0 draw by Hebei CFFC in their previous league outing, but a return to winning ways puts them level on points with Chongqing Lifan, who face Beijing Guoan in their next outing.

After a goalless first half, Ighalo gave his side the lead in the 50th minute after heading past goalkeeper Boyang Su.

Rui Yi doubled the lead in the 80th, six minutes after Fan Yi was sent off for violent conduct.

The Nigeria international sealed victory for his side with a 90th-minute effort after rounding goalkeeper Boyang Su in the wake of a poor clearance from Lin Longchang.

Ighalo would be hoping to increase his tally for the season when he leads his side against Jiangsu Suning FC on October 22.

IAN WRIGHT PREFERS TAMMY ABRAHAM TO MICHY BATSHUAYI AT CHELSEA
By Sam Francisco, Correspondent

The Arsenal legend has hailed the 20-year-old forward's impact and says he will pick him over the Belgium international to lead the Blues attack

Ian Wright has said he would prefer Tammy Abraham to lead Chelsea's attack in place of Michy Batshuayi.

This came in the wake of the Blues' shock 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Belgian international, the focal point of Antonio Conte's side, fired blank while Abraham, on loan from the Stamford Bridge outfit, scored twice to lead Swansea to a 2-0 win over Huddersfield at the Liberty Stadium.

And the former England international has criticised Batshuayi’s poor showing against Roy Hodgson’s men and said he will take Tammy ‘all day long’.

“I said a couple of weeks ago that Batshuayi should be very disappointed that he [Conte] would rather put Hazard up there,” Wright told BBC.

“The problem I have got with him is he is not working defenders hard enough to get some space to get a chance in the box, that's what he needs. He needs to make movements to get this space.

“When you watch him he doesn't move. His movement just doesn't have enough intensity about it, there's nothing in it.

There were some fantastic balls [against Crystal Palace] but he was too late for many of them.

“Tammy set the tone straight away," he continued.

"What I really like about him is that he hits the target. I was hoping he would get some goals today to give him confidence.

“He worked hard and showed composure for his first goal and his movement today was superb.

''With that movement, I'm taking Tammy all day long,” he concluded.

It is destination Morocco folks.... smiley Nigeria's Home based Eagles will be heading to Morocco for the CHAN

MOROCCO REPLACES KENYA AS CHAN HOST
By Seth Willis

Kenya was stripped off of the hosting rights after failing to provide facilities vital for the competition, notably the stadia

Morocco will host the 2018 CHAN following the decision made by CAF Executive Committee in a meeting held in Nigeria on Saturday.

Kenya was stripped of the hosting rights after failing to provide facilities vital for the competition, notably the stadia as promised in the beginning of the year.

Despite having numerous chances to make things right, Goal understands there was no political will to make the competition a success and most of the process went on in a snail's pace.

The North African nation beat competition from Ethiopia and Equatorial Guinea.

The cities of Casablanca, Agadir, Marakech and Tangier have been selected to host the biannual tournament.

This is a competition played by players plying trade in the domestic league, and it is scheduled to be played on January and February 2018.

Egypt is most likely to replace Kenya as the other team with the decision of the CAF emergency committee, about the final slot since new host Morocco already qualified, is set to be communicated later on Sunday. The team will be from North Zone.

Solomon-Otabor Earns Praise From Blackpool Coach For Scoring Equalizer

Former Nigeria U23 invitee Viv Solomon-Otabor has finally opened his goalscoring account for Blackpool and it came in his 13th game for the Seasiders in their 1-1 draw with Walsall on Saturday evening.

Two minutes after coming off the bench, the Birmingham City loanee cut inside from the left and found the net with his first few touches.

''All season the subs, when they’ve been called upon, have been terrific,'' manager Gary Bowyer told blackpoolfc.co.uk.

''Viv has had a tough time off the pitch in the last week or two but the way he’s dealt with it and with the support of his team-mates and the staff, he’s shown today what he’s capable of.

''That goal has been coming to be fair to him.''
English-born Solomon-Otabor is on loan at Blackpool until 6 January, 2018.
He was named Birmingham City's Young Player of the Year for the 2015-2016 season.

Obviously in contradiction of OGN's reports

Not For A Tackle : Real Reason Abdullahi Shehu Was Shown A Straight Red Card In Cyprus

A week after Abdullahi Shehu managed to escape being sent off during Nigeria's World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Uyo, the right back was dismissed in his first competitive game for Anorthosis Famagusta following his return to Cyprus.

Contrary to speculation in the local media, Shehu was not sent off for a dangerous tackle on an Apollon player but for an incident on the bench.

A top source told allnigeriasoccer.com : ''The referee said that Shehu hit someone from the bench of Apollon but we can't confirm it from replays on television. Now he is sure to miss at least two games.''

At the time Shehu was sent off in the 37th minute, Anorthosis Famagusta were losing 1-0; Schildenfeld equalized with 19 minutes left on the clock.

Since the former Kano Pillars star moved to Europe, he has been red carded four times and shown a yellow card sixteen times in 66 matches.

Anorthosis Famagusta lead the way in the Cypriot First Division with 15 points from 7 games.

Visa Hitch Stops Nigeria U17 Star From Club Brugge Trials

Nigeria U17 international Nazifi Yahaya has been denied a visa to Belgium and a proposed switch to Belgian First Division A powerhouse Club Brugge is hanging in the balance.

The Belgian Embassy here in Nigeria noted that the striker and his minders do not have enough funds in their bank account to take care of the player's expenses while in West Flanders.

''Nazifi Yahaya was invited to attend trials with Club Brugge, we got an official letter of invitation from the club but he was denied a visa by the embassy,'' a top source close to Yahaya told
allnigeriasoccer.com .

''The Embassy said the money in his account was not enough, so we are considering other options.

''Atletico Madrid were also interested but because of the Fifa ban they cooled their interest. He might remain with Kano Pillars next season if his move overseas does not materialize.''

Meanwhile, Nazifi Yahaya has shown his appreciation to Kano Pillars for agreeing to offer him a deal despite his young age, and has vowed to perform more than expected if his contract is renewed.

It is understood that the Nigeria Professional Football League giants are locked in talks with Dabo Babes Academy over the extension of Yahaya's stay.

ANS obviously in agreement with NY earlier reports in my P-Index about Echiejile's absence from the Matchday squad for Sivasspor further cementing the truth of the reports that he is injured

Rohr Proved Right As Elderson Not In Sivasspor 18, Chelsea Loanee Omeruo Goes 90

German tactician Gernot Rohr, the first manager that observed Elderson Echiejile at close quarters after last weekend's 1-0 win vs Zambia, has finally been proven right, as the left back faces a spell on the sidelines.

Echiejile was not in Sivasspor's 18 against Kenneth Omeruo's Kasimpasa (2-3) on Sunday afternoon, which more or less confirms confirms Rohr's statement that he is doubtful for November's World Cup qualifier against Algeria.

As first reported by allnigeriasoccer.com , the Monaco loanee picked up an ankle injury whilst training with the national team on October 3 and aggravated the ailment in the closing minutes of the match against the Chipolopolo.

In the third minute of injury time, Veysel Sari scrambled home from close range to give Kasimpasa the lead, and Omeruo was in the penalty box ready to pounce on any loose ball after a free-kick was floated in.

Arouna Kone and Thievy Bifouma scored to give Sivasspor a 2-1 lead, before Michael Rangel leveled the tie on 74 minutes, then Vitaliy Dyakov grabbed the winner with eight minutes remaining.

Omeruo is not to be blamed for the first two goals conceded by Kasimpasa as his team were playing a high defensive line which left them exposed at the back.

Simon ‘Incredibly Proud’ About Super Eagles’ World Cup Ticket
By James Agberebi

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon is relishing the chance to represent Nigeria at the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The Eagles confirmed their place at next year’s World Cup after pipping African qualifying Group B opponent Chipolopolo of Zambia 1-0 in Uyo last Saturday.

Simon was in action for the Eagles against Zambia before going off for goal hero Alex Iwobi.

The win took the Eagles to 13 points, six ahead of Zambia who remain second on seven points, while Cameroon (six points) and Algeria (one point) are third and fourth respectively.

Speaking after Gent beat Waasland-Beveren 2-0 in the Belgian top flight on Saturday, Simon said he is eager to feature at the World Cup just like every other player.

“I’m very happy,” Simon told Gent’s official website.

“The World Cup is the biggest football tournament everyone wants to play. I am therefore incredibly proud that I can play for my country.”

Simon was involved in Gent’s two goals scored by compatriot Samuel Kalu in the win against Waasland-Beveren.

Despite not finding the back of the net so far this season, Simon said the victory (against Waasland-Beveren) was more important than him scoring.

He said: “It was an important match for us, for the coach but also for the supporters. But we knew what we had to do and we showed that.

“The last matches we did not really have luck , but against Waasland, things went well.

“I just played my game, maybe I was a bit free than before. I could have scored, yes. But for me, that is not necessary. The victory is more important.”

And ahead of their next league clash against Abduljeleel Ajagun’s Kortrijk, Simon said their aim is to secure the three points.

He added: “We will take all the positive from the game against Waasland ahead of next week. We always go for victory in every match.”

Stephen Odey Scores, Sets Up Two Goals To Fire FC Zurich To Big Win Over Old Boys

Former MFM forward Stephen Odey marked his first official game for his new team FC Zurich with a goal and two assists to power them to a 5-2 win over BSC Old Boys in the Swiss U21 League.

Odey was handed a start in the game which is a third tier league clash and he didn’t disappoint as he set up their first and third goal before netting the fourth goal of the game to hand his team a handsome 5-2 win.

The victory helped the U21s to maintain their 5th place in the U21 league, but Odey will be focused on his debut for the first team which could come anytime soon, if he maintains his form for the U21s.

19 year old was second top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League last season with 17 goals, and he made his senior international bow for Nigeria against Togo in a friendly game in France.
He also starred for the B team in the CHAN Qualifiers, playing in both legs of their 2-1 aggregate win over Benin Republic which sealed their progress to the Championship holding in Morocco next year.

I scored one of my best goals ever reveals KAA Gent hero Samuel Kalu
By SCORENigeria admin

Samuel Kalu has described his second goal against Waasland-Beveren in a Belgian league match as one of the best he has scored in his career.

KAA Gent forward Kalu came off the bench to deliver a brace on Saturday night thanks to an assist by compatriot Moses Simon five minutes from time.

“Simon looked up (to locate me) for me to score one of the most beautiful goal of my career,” an excited Kalu said after his goals downed Waasland-Beveren at home.

“The victory was really good, we waited long for it.”
His first goal Saturday night had more to do with luck as he tucked away easily from a rebound off the goalkeeper.

“I followed it up, a goal is a goal, huh,” he said.
He also recalled that he has been a match winner coming from the bench at Slovak club Trencin.

Ogu Promises More Goals For Hapoel Beer-Sheva, Eyes Europa Win
By Johnny Edward

Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu believes that there is more to come from him after he opened his Israeli Premier League goal account this season for Hapoel Beer-Sheva in their 3-1 win over Hapoel Ra’anana on Saturday.

Ogu sealed his side’s win in the 87th minute, firing in a fierce strike from the edge of the box after goals from Isaac Cuenca and Amir Khalaila cancelled out an early opener from Shimon Abuhatzira.

“It’s always pleasing to score and you can expect more from me as I have the license to move forward when we (Hapoel Beer-Sheva) attack,” Ogu told Completesportsnigeri.com.

“Expect more goals from me.”

Ogu also hopes his side maintain their momentum when they
host Steaua Bucaresti in Thursday’s UEFA Europa League game.
Hapoel Beer-Sheva lost 3-1 to Victoria Plzen on matchday 2 after beating FC Lugano 2-1 on matchday 1.

“We have just one win in the group and we need to bounce back from that defeat to Plzen to stand a chance of getting out of the group,” Out, who has been in the Nigeria squad as they claimed a Russia 2018 World Cup ticket, added.

Hapoel Beer-Sheva are third in Europa League Group G table behind leaders Steaua Bucaresti with three points and tied with the same points and goals difference with second-placed Victoria Plzen.
