Stormyweather:Yep. Black mamba is not even common in 9ja. Its not even common in West Africa. But deadly in East to Southern Africa. It is even grey to dark brown in colour. Because mamba and cobra are of same family, they can be mistaken for each other sometimes. A full grown mamba can form a hood, albeit narrower, like a cobra. Which it displays when threatened. More aggressive and deadlier than a cobra though. 1 Like |

AreaFada2:thanks for letting all know. I've not heard of a case in Nigeria. It's quite a rare snake. The adder on the other hand in very common in some parts of Nigeria, the cobra gon is not a very common snake. Most of the snakes we see around our homes are non venomous except for those that stay in those areas where it's close to a forest or swamp. Nigerians need to know how to spot a snake and tell it's difference |

besticality:. A black mamba doesn't necessarily need to be black....I think they are given that name coz of their characteristics black mouth(I mean inside their mouth) So since the op said it was spitting at the other guy,I guess it's a spitting cobra |

As much as I hate snakes I find them fascinating and am always interested in knowing more about them(most especially their weaknesses and how to capture them) Waiting for that day I would be able to pick a snake up by its tail |

This is a spitting corbra not black Mamba. Black mamba are known by the colour of there mouth which is black and this also goes to green mamba. They are family. Spitting cobra do target ones eye whenever he wanna attack by spitting it's venom in to one's eye which can cause blindness. Thanks to Nageo wild. |
