Maybe there was no wide publicity of the program, but why should some people be spreading rumours that the army authorities are infecting the children with disease, that's stupidity. |

PRESS RELEASE. The Nigerian Medical Association, Imo State wishes to inform the General public that where as immunization is neccessary for the prevention of some killer diseases especially in Childhood, there in no officially approved immunisation programme going on in the state presently. As a result, parents and teachers are advised not to submit their wards to persons or group of persons for any purported form of immunisation. This is on the backdrop of alarm being raised about "forced immunization" in some places in the state on Wednesday 11th October, 2017. Similarly, The Nigerian Medical Association Imo State advices the general public to stay away from all forms of "free medical programmes" that do not have the approval of Nigerian Medical Association, while we keenly monitor events unfold. abumaryam012:There is nothing wrong with the igbos but everything is wrong with you bigots. Which parent regardless of tribe will be comfortable with the administration of a vaccine without prior information? Since when did military officers escort health workers to schools? Is it the duty of the army to provide and enforce vaccination on children? You bigots should reason like humans and quit displaying sheer hatred and prejudice. 3 Likes |

No one should conduct an unannounced public vaccination. Especially, coupled with the fact that recent relations with the army is at an all time low. 1 Like 1 Share |

A killer cannot suddenly turn a healer. Please leave us alone, we know how to take care of our wards. We don't need any help especially when it has not been long you wiped our harmless and innocent brothers. If it were anything good am sure it won't start from the South East. We know there is more to this vaccine than meets the eye. Anyi achoro Onyinye ekwensu biko ndi zoo 1 Like 1 Share |

You do not have to be Igbo to feel uncomfortable with this. Anyone with half a brain should have questions. Stop being instinctively tribalistic and think like a civilised person in 2017. No civilised country would adopt this approach under the prevailing circumstances. How is one to believe that the same Army sent to the East to use force to intimidate a people is now suddenly nicely carrying out immunisation on the same people? When did the Army replace health ministry in Nigeria? Has this same Army vaccinated people in the SS where the so called monkey pox is? Why has the Army not been used for polio immunisation in Northern Nigeria (which is the only part of Nigeria where polio is yet to be eradicated)? Nigeria is one of the only 3 countries in the world where polio remains endemic-the other 2 countries are Pakistan & Afghanistan .If the army is now being used for healthcare, they should be used for polio immunisations in the North, so we can finally complete the eradication of polio in Nigeria. Every year one hears of another stupid disease, it's enough to make anyone with half a brain ask legitimate questions & one cannot rule out the possibility that some horrible "leaders" may sanction biological attack on any group of people they seek to eliminate or weaken. We do not want to hear sometime in future of outbreak of some stupid disease in the East, if that happens everyone should know where to point the finger. Let local health professionals conduct vaccinations, the Nigerian army should stay out of it! People should be wise. Stay away from whatever the army is handing out, go to your hospitals (at least you stand a better chance that the local health professionals will not knowingly, deliberately, inject you with something harmful) Local health care professionals & hospitals should also double check the source and authenticity of any vaccines they receive...it's a sad situation but there is zero trust for the Nigerian Army & the administration. That is the state of the nation. For the tribalistic mindsets here, remember what goes around comes around...eventually that which you wish on another will at the appointed time walk in through your front door... 4 Likes 3 Shares |

It always good to consult community and states stakeholders to create vast awareness before embarking on public medical interventions. Outreach without public awareness is suspicious indeed and no wonder the shameful out cry Nationwide |
