No need for apology they don't care and they won't do anything. Even they have done worst to their citizens. So, you can withdraw your apology. |

Slymonster: These are illegal immigrants who want to go to Europe by all means without passports or visa. They know all the hardship you are talking about. It is a risk they willingly take. Nigerian government has no hand in it. It's just hard luck. The Italian government gave a date, and with no additional information went ahead and buried the girl's on earlier date. So what's your problem here? |

Italy u don’t need to apologize cos Nigerian government don’t even care about the lives of Nigerians talkless of Nigerian corpses. If u were to apologize let it be directed to the families of the victims and compensate them with at least 1 visa for each of the families of the victims. |

Nigeria really needs to find a way to take responsibility for Nigerians alone. A part of this means finding a way to challenge international news that seem to lazily label all black Africans Nigerians. I note for instance that after noisily announcing to the world that Nigerians are being sold as slaves in Libya, the latest news, that people from Niger were largely the ones being sold, is being broadcast and is quietly going unoteiced. Also, the nationals of men responsible for organising and exploiting theses migrants have been caught and they hail from Senegal, Mali, Niger and others but not Nigeria. Why can't Nigeria find a way to challenge these naratives. when Johnathan was in power he was wise enough to understand the power of information. He had a minister responsible for Nigeria's image but this was laughed at by those who call themselves Nigerians but it was a clever move. The current government must find a way to take to task international news media, force them somehow to broadcast only researched news. Nigeria has to find a way to punish the larger more consiquental inaccurate News on Nigeria by international news organisations. |

AnanseK: What do you do about nation young man? Do you think it's so easy for people to walk out of a country easily. It means something is systematically wrong and shows anybody can also walk into Nigeria easily and cause havoc. No wonder people keep saying Fulani from different countries are the ones killing.. A nation has to have a tight structure on who comes and leave through the land borders |

Nigerian government has no hand in it. It's just hard luck. The Italian government gave a date, and with no additional information went ahead and buried the girl's on earlier date. So what's your problem here? Bros, You know it seems that Nigerian have decided to mortgage their brains and values for hatred. Is it today that many of these girls have been taking such route, going through despicable conditions, forking out as much as $4k - $8k for such trips all in the name of wanting to make it in Europe. Many of these girls (especially the notorious Edo extractions) are recruited as prostitutes and sex-slaves, many go willingly and serve as prostitutes only to come back as millionaires. Alas our values have been so eroded that we "hail" them when the come back with lots of monies....... I am surprised that ido.ots on this forum can so shamelessly blame government for people who chose to put their lives at risk. People have been traveling via this route for over 20yrs. The year a government decided to boldly address it, you blame such govt. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has overseen the repatration and resettlement of over 5000 Nigerians, some of them are given financial assistance to resettle, some helped with small scale businesses. Our useless social media foools will not take note of that. I mean ask yourself, which responsible parent will send his/her "13,14 to 18 get to go through such route" just for money? How can a responsible parent raise $4k to send their daughters to Europe knowing fully well that they will end up being prostitutes. Blame the "people rulling us" at your peril. We need to start telling ourselves the hard truth, we are responsible for many of our mishaps. 1 Like |

Litmus: I agree with you in part. But international media must also demonstrate responsibility in reportage. For example, it is curious that up till this moment, no member of the family of the 25girls supposedly from Nigeria has come out to identify them. Are we really sure they are truly Nigerians? Why didn't the Italian govt wait for autopsy before rushing to bury them? Yes we need to give our narratives, but I believe energy should be channelled into continuing the rebuilding of our country. 1 Like |
