I planned everything out in stages for myself. I am in the drawing stage where I get to draw and see how good I can be. I still plan to animate and then learn video editing and stuff then digital painting then learn c4d

Like you can't use Photoshop for logo likewise illustrator for photo manipulation so learn their uses and then know which works best for what you want to do
I am still a learner like you so I can't say I know much
Be consistent and take your time

Hey hi,thanks. It's a regular practice from time to time if doing it constantly isn't realistic,reading books,e-books,video tutorials (my favourite medium) and dedication even when not inspired to do anything creative.

I was more into 3d modelling and animation but went to back to illustration because of a quote a friend shared of a popular foreign 3d game designer/animator who said if he had to chance to start his career again he would learn how to draw.

It changed my mind then i went back to it and have been exploring it since 2014 but will dive back into 2d/3d animation when i can afford a bigger workstation laptop/desktop.

Regardless of the medium,concept art is compulsory. Even for any film in Hollywood to date there are concept and storyboard artists who plan out everything via drawings. Instagram,Deviant Art,Behance,Art Station and Evenant Design are great places for inspiration.

To answer your questions:

1)You first need to have a digital tab by wacom(highly recommended by me),ugee,huion,yiynova to name a few. You need to get video tutorials by the pros online. YouTube is great cause it's free but the hardcore stuff is from Digital Tutors,Pluralsight,Lynda,Cubebrush which they aren't actually free from the owners because it's premium.

2) You can use both but each has its specific uses. Illustrator is mainly for logo design,inking comic illustration, and vector drawings. Photoshop for digital painting,comics,coloring,photo manipulation,effects and pixel/raster designs.

3)The difference between a beginner and a pro is consistency, making mistakes,learn from them and discover new stuff along the way. Learning never stops and technology is always changing. You use this school's syllabus (https://dubai.sae.edu/training-courses/animation/comic-illustration/).

No but the organizers can't be expected to go out of their way to do that for other cities or towns they don't live in. Search for Cowry Comics Arts or something on Facebook they tried to organize Ibadan ComicCon but i guess it flopped with low turnout. If you have where you can stay in Lagos. You can try and attend it's worth the exposure for sure.
