Get a hold of this Must Read book if you can https://www.amazon.com/History-Igbo-World-Ancient-Civilization-ebook/dp/B01K4AIUO8
Sells for about $10.

The Obi of Onitsha recently announced he would commission Professors from UNN to further study the revelations in the book.https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/either-restructuring-referendum-ezeife/amp/

I cant wait to read more from their report.

The Obi's initiative is very encouraging.
He should mobilise wealthy Igbo people to fund the research and have a museum with children excursion visits organised regularly to embed the knowledge in them.
We, Africans, need to do more of this instead of pretending to be better than our neighbour who in fact is a nonentity in the global scheme of things.

Why does Nigeria engage in the quota system while admitting students into institutions of higher learning since the northern region tends to have the highest number of qualified candidates during federal government appointments? The numbers being produced by the northern region of Nigeria clearly suggest that northern region of Nigeria enjoys academic advantage over any region in Nigeria. The fraud called quota system or useless federal character should stop immediately.

ABUJA—The National Judicial Council, NJC, yesterday, denied allegation that the South East region of the country was sidelined in an ongoing process that will lead to elevation of 14 Judges to the Court of Appeal bench.

The Council, in a statement by its Director of Information, Mr. Soji Oye, said it considered merit and geographical spread in the appointment of Judicial Officers to the Court of Appeal. It maintained that in considering appointment for 14 vacancies currently existing in the appellate court bench and to ensure that each zone is adequately represented, states that already have three serving Justices were excluded.

NJC said its attention was drawn to an on-line publication and in some newspapers alleging that none of the candidates it shortlisted for appointment to the Court of Appeal was from the South-East. “This allegation is nothing but a figment of the imagination of the on-line media as the exercise is on-going and no candidate has been recommended so far. “To put the records straight, appointment of Judicial Officers to the Court of Appeal is done on merit and geographical spread. “Section 2 of Court of Appeal (Amendment) Act, 2013, governing the appointment of Justices of Court of Appeal provides that the total number of Justices to be appointed should not be more than 90 plus the President.

The Court however, currently has 76 Justices leaving vacancy for additional 14 Justices. Of the 76 Justices of the Court, the North Central with 6 States and FCT has 12 Justices; North-East with six states has 12 Justices plus the President; North-West with seven states has 9 Justices; South-East with five states has 13 Justices; South-South with six states has 14 Justices and South-West with six states has 15 Justices. “In considering appointment for the 14 vacancies, and to ensure that each zone is adequately presented, all states that have 3 serving Justices were not considered unless under special circumstances.

“The states not considered are: Anambra, Bauchi, Borno, Cross-River, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Gombe, Imo, Kogi, Kwara and Oyo. “States like Adamawa, Kebbi and Sokoto have zero representation which informed the need to include them in the current exercise. “Appointments are made to the Court based on the elevation of Appeal Court Justices to the Supreme Court, retirement at the age of 70 years, or death. Such vacancies are filled with judicial officers from the zone of the Judge who died, retired or elevated. “It is therefore unfair for the online media to claim that the National Judicial Council recommended no candidate from the South-East which currently has 13 Justices at the Court of Appeal. “Journalists are pleased advised to always balance their report to avoid litigation,” the statement read.

Thank you for this. You have indeed shut the mouth of some bigots.

It's a very common trick by mischief-makers.

For example, imagine that there's a council that has 37 members and the law establishing the council states that there must be one member from each of the 36 states and Abuja and the law also states that members must retire when they turn 60 or when they've served for 30 years.

Then imagine that 6 members from northern states retired or died and 2 members from south-west states also retired or died within a year and there's a need to fill the vacancies.

Mischief-makers will report that 8 new members have been appointed to the council and none of them is from the south-east. They will not tell you that every south-east state has a member in the council.

That's why I asked for the full list of appeal court judges in my first post.

At least I know that Justice Raphael Chikwe Agbo, Chioma Egondu Nwosu-Iheme, Uzo Ndukwe Anyanwu and Chinwe Iyizoba are justices of the appeal court.

The country is too polarized due to bad politics that every move by the government is seen through ethno religious lenses.

People like ffk, fayose and ipob are the biggest beneficiary of this loophole.

Lack of education by the masses is also a major factor. People like you should not relent in putting the record straight.

You can see that no of them ever commented since you posted the news.
