Hello All,

I have a case that is still bothering me. My husband and i changed our Surname (based on our faith). As at then we didnt know we wld want to relocate to Canada wink. I know this is not an issue for me cos our marriage certificate and would suffice.

Our passport is still in the old name(change of name in Abuja for the man is a long thing.NB it is not correction of name). He has legal documents to the change of name though,

My worry is:
1. his certificates are in his old name, but
2. his bank accounts are in the new name
3. he has changed his name to the new name at his place of work. New name now reflecting in his confirmation letter and promotion letter.

do you think this my affect our application? will it raise a red flag? because they do not believe in change of name over there. if you like bear stone or water. smiley

Change of name is widely accepted here but for a different reason thou.....your prof can change name from EVE to STEVE and you have to be respectful and call former "her" Steve. So as long as you include your documentations you would be good to go. Also fill the former name in places that ask for alias or previous names used.

Thank you bro....do you mean both of us should swear an affidavit that we MR & MRS STONE ARE SAME PERSONS BEARING MR AND MRS WHITE. OR is it just my husband swearing the affidavit because his affidavit and marriage certificate should cover me .

I think for completeness sake it would be best that both of you do this, even though it may seem like he needs it more. You know, better to err on the side of caution thing.

There are many cases when you need to make an affidavit to handle name discrepancies. Some of which are:
When;
- Name differs in certificates issued in school or colleges.
- First, middle or last name is missing
- Name is misspelt by mistake or during translation from local language to English
- Initial is missing or not expanded
- Name change after marriage
- Name change after divorce, change in religion, or personal preferences

Ideally, an affidavit for one and the same person should include the following details:
- The original name of the deponent
- Changed/missing/corrected/expanded name(s) of the deponent
- Document(s) in which the change(s) occur(s)
- Deponent’s relevant personal details
- Declaration stating that there is no fraud or misrepresentation in the affidavit

So from the above, I'd admonish that you see a lawyer to get this prepared. It is a legal document that'll more or less give you all the required legal backing for the discrepancies you both have.

Cheers

Pls ooo help your sister. Hubby is a british citizen so has a british passport however has lived in Nigeria longer than the UK so he has 2 passports a british and Nigerian passport but the middle name on the british passport is different from the middle name on the Nigerian passport eg British passport - Ade Bam Ede... Nigerian passport - Ade Chi Ede. All his docs, bank accounts are the same as the name on the Nigerian passport but he travels with the british passport as he doesnt need visa when he uses that passport. Pls which name do we use while filling the express entry profile and which passport do we send for PPR. Pls help me ooo. We are confused. Thank you my people.

Once you indicate that you have used a different name before in your post-ITA forms,
you will be provided with a placeholder to upload the necessary documents. The placeholder is called 'Legal name change documents' or something similar.

Dear all, pls I need your advise. I am intending to begin the process of application, I will be 37 in May and a first degree holder with over 5 years work experience . Is it advisable I go for my Masters degree in order to boost my CRS score or I go ahead with my application (using my 1st degree) aiming to have high score in IELTS?

Good day my people. Pls is this going to be a problem?

SolutionsGuy:
It seems POF is a major factor that could easily lead to rejection. Pls my questions are:

1. What is the implication of having all the required POF transferred to my account by a relative as soon as I get my ITA? That is less than 6 months at the application time, but accompanied with deeds of gift.

2. What is the way out or best option? As I am expecting an ITA soon but don't have up to 1 million Naira in my account. Family and friends wish to give me the required money.

Good day my people. Pls is this going to be a problem?

1. There's no (adverse) implication, provided you have your supporting documents in place - notarized gift deed et al. Some people even have their PoF completed a week to application submission deadline.

2. Sorry, I'm not sure if you're asking a question or making a comment. Kindly rephrase

Good morning All
Please am new to this thread and i have been reading every page from part 2.
I just need a clarification,
My spouse and I intend to write IELTS in May, that is the earliest date we can get. I have a BSc and MSc from different universities in Nigeria and i also have another MSc from UK.
My wife has OND and HND.
I have more than 10 years work experience but no relatives or family members living in Canada.
Please i intend registering with WES to evaluate my degrees but i need clarifications:-

1. From the past pages, i read i should just evaluate only the highest degre, so i can use my UK Msc since that may be faster to process. Please what do you advise for my spouse.
2. Is there anything else we can do to have high points for Express entry.

I will appreciate any response. Sincere apologies if this has been answered before, I may not have gotten to the page.

Have a blessed weekend.

Hello House,

I've learnt a lot from this thread. Please i'd like to find out out about the police report.

On the link 'https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/express-entry/applications-received-on-after-january-1-2016-completeness-check.html', it states that 'Under “Education,” applicants will be advised to enter the country and city in which they were physically present, even in the case of distance learning. This is to avoid unnecessary requests for police certificates.'

Does this mean that applicants who have studied outside of Nigeria no longer need to get police certificates from the countries they stayed for 6 months or more due to educational reasons?

I would appreciate your response.
