You can read through the posts of this user - https://www.nairaland.com/glowrie22 - she got a fully funded Msc Agric Economics program.

I think she is still very active her so she can help out.

You will have to write your GRE in port harcourt, somewhere around Rumuokoro (East West road). TOEFL can be taken at Owerri or Port Harcourt.

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate.

You can get winter clothes in Lagos. Go to Idumota. There are guys there that specialise in good winter jackets, for any country. My friend bought from there before coming here and she is still using it here.

I apologize to everyone not to have posted this earlier.

My interview was slated for Dec 8th and was approved. I was interviewed by the lady in counter 2 and below convo ensued

Me: good morning

VO: (not sure if she answered) what course are you going to study

Me: Management Information Systems (though I had Information Technology on my SEVIS form)but not a problem as I was informed by the school that it wasn't an error)

VO: (looks at my SEVIS form to confirm) Why did you choose NIU

Me: there's a lab that consist of current Database Softwares, built in client/server system and SAP control component system which affords the opportunity of working through many real life situations thereby gaining hands on experience and training on this course which are the tools required to excel in my area of specialization .

Also, Asides from the masters degree being awarded, a certification in SAP will also be awarded which is an added qualification .

The program specializes in Business Analytics and SAP which are both in line with my career aspirations as I intend becoming a consultant in Business Analytics.

VO: (Nods)Did you apply to any other school?

Me: Yes

VO: how many

Me: 3

VO: nods, mention them

Me: NIU, UD and Texas A&M

VO:How many gave you admit

Me: 2

VO: You got your visa when? (referring to my B1/B2 visa)

Me: 2017

VO: have you travelled( referring to if I've used the US visa)

Me: Not yet

VO: (Nods before I even finished) Where have you travelled to?

Me: UK and Dubai

VO: who is your sponsor

Me: My Dad:

VO: (checks something on her system) you are qualified for this visa, collect your passport at your chosen selection point, gave me the white paper and also another paper to attend an admission forum

Me: Thought she first of all said you're not qualified, I was like wetin and then I saw the white paper, was so elated. Told her thank you very much and merry Christmas in advance.

HINT: Please be prepared for your interview and leave the rest for the VO to decide. I listened to some interviews before I had mine that day, obvious questions where asked relating to the students intending courses and they could not answer these questions. A VO asked a student the content of his intending course and said he didn't know, another who's profession was nursing wanted to go study pre-nursing, told VO his intending course is a higher type of nursing to his present profession and could not relate both together.

Hi all,
I'm a pharmacy student here and my school awards B Pharm upon graduation, I'm sick tired of this country and would want to practise in the US cause i want to hit big quick. I intend to obtain a Msc Scholarship in any of my 5 Honours but a discouraging news it that only the Pharm D certificate authorizes one to practise in the US. Meaning my Bpharm + Msc in US would be pointless.

That really true?

thank you , I haven't used up my chances I would keep checking for an earlier date hopefully I would get one before January 8
jagaban17:
You have only 2 chance to reschedule which includes your expedited appointment. If you've used up all your chances,There is nothing you can do. If not, please don't waste the last chance. Keep checking, I believe you will get an earlier date in Lagos or Abj (not guaranteed). The worst case is paying another fee if you've used all your chances and getting an earlier date is also not guaranteed.

Delayed this morning by the lady in window 6

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning ma.

VO: Pass your passport and i-20
VO: Where are you going in the US?
Me; UIU in Fayette, Iowa for my Bachelors degree in Information Technology.

VO: Whats your highest qualification?
Me: HND in Computer Science

VO: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: 3 schools. The University of Tulsa, Park University and Upper Iowa University.

VO: What is the cost of this degree?
Me: The total cost for 9 months is $43,804, got a scholarship of $10k and the cost is now $33,804(this include tuition, living expenses and all).

VO: Who will be paying?
Me: My mum

VO: what do you like about this school?
Me: Apart from the fact that the program learning objective focuses more on creation and deployment of projects for her students to stand out in this ever changing world, some of the proffessors in d STEM department av contributed and they are still contributing to open source foundation and open network foundation.. and this is a kind of big deal because I will be learning from professors who eat and breathe tech on a daily. This will make me stand out in (she cuts). (Not done here.. she cuts)

VO: what courses will you be taking?
Me: Web systems, human computer interaction, network architecture, intro to programming, advanced programming lang, rational problem solving among others.

VO: What will you be doing with this degree?
Me: After the successful completion of my course, I will be coming back to Nigeria to start an IT company that will be deploying viable solutions to problem facing major sectors in Nigeria that can be solved with tech. One of the solutions I will be working on is (she cuts) (Here I want to chat with her like explain.. tell her my plans and all but she cuts me).

VO:  Sorry you do not qualify for visa this time.  You can reapply.

Where did I go wrong?

I was not stammering, was looking straight into her eyes.., talking boldly n loud, using hand gestures to explain things.. at some point she was nodding.

Before me, a guy was saying em em em to another VO and yet he gave the guy.  I thought they said if you stammer or shiver or something.. you will be delayed...

Man.. I give up.. like Im done with US. I will appreciate if she can tell me where I got it wrong instead of telling me sorry and all that shit.

Thanks to @jerrypeacelinks, @messibliss207, @softamy. Y'all tried for the poor boy. I dont think I can reapply again. This visa thing with US is a gamble ish. I cant be dashing Trump and his people my money.

This is a real gamble.

Your result is good but not great so yes you need to take SAT if you are looking for funding . A high Sat will aid your application and then toefl depending on the school

There are a couple of Uni of Maryland campus so depending on which one . If it college park that one competitive . Instead of that Comminity college add some HBCU in the mix. Some have good full ride scheme . https://www.niche.com/colleges/search/best-hbcu-schools/ . Check Lincoln, howard etc

Out of curiosity with such a good result, why have you not done first degree in Nigeria in 5 years ... there so many Unis now
