An impression is counted for each ad request that returns at least one ad to the site. It is the number of ad units (for content ads) or search queries (for search ads) that showed ads.
Suppose you are showing 3 AdSense ads on every page of your website, 1 page view is equal to 3 ad impressions.
So if you are getting 5k pageviews you should be getting around 15k ad impressions.
But it seems that you are counting blog pageviews and not your google adsense pageviews, blog pageviews and google adsense pageviews are different things, for example I can get 4k pageviews on my blog, but it will show only 1k pageviews on google adsense... So always work with your google adsense pageviews, if your google adsense pageviews is higher than your impressions it means that some of your ads are not showing when people visit your blog. Check your ads very well. I had to change mine to responsive ads when that happened
