it has to get to the supreme court and the current constitution(1999) as amended prohibits a state religion, which means anything that has to do with the state(public schools for example) have the right to determine if they want to be religiously neutral across board. They will surely affirm those rights at the supreme court.

And being the president of Nigeria (which is also very symbolic to his moslem brothers), his daughter could've had no problem wearing the islamic symbol on an occasion like this.
