When it comes to mobile phone users, most people have their preferred mobile phone brands that they buy over and ove again. This same attachment to favourites also trickles down into mobile phone browsers.

I am not wiriting this to do a comparison of the major mobile browsers but to introduce a browser that can make you abandon your Chrome or your UC browser. I mention these two browsers because majority of Users love these two browsers, the former because of it's clean UI and it's integration with it's desktop browser and the latter simply because of it's download manager and nothing else.

The name of the browser is PHX browser. I was introduced to this browser when i bought my new infinix phone and it was one of the pre-installed applications. I was immediately hooked to this browser because it solved the first problem i had with Chrome Browser; The Navigation bar is at the bottom of the screen.

So here are some of the Features that have endeared me to this Browser:

1. Very Clean and minimalist UI.

Immediately opening the browser introduces a home screen that consists of just a search bar and icons for links to generic bookmarks that come with the browser. There is no clutter.

Chrome, previously the only browser with a similar home screen recently started including news article links in its home screen, that has detracted from the simplicity of it's home screen.

a. Unlike Chrome and other browsers that put links to news articles in their browsers home screen. This one provides a small upward arrow in the bottom navigation bar that drags up a page for viewing the various news articles. categorised according to "Recommended, Technology, Entertainment, Sports, Politics" etcetera. This is a recent update and it was not available at the time that i originally wanted to write this article.

b. Unlike Chrome, the navigation bar is at the bottom of the page. Similar to UC browser, but much more intuitive and better. You do not have to stretch your finger all the way to the top of the page just to change tabs.

The task bar minimizes to show the title of the page when you are scrolling a webpage and comes up again when you scroll down.

2. The Download Manager.

This is the one that the core UC fans are waiting to know about. Is it better than UC browser's download manager?

From using the download manager, I have noticed a couple of things.

a. With the recent update, you can now choose the folder you want to download the files to. Something that Chrome doesn't offer you.

b. You can see the size of the file and the download speed as the file is downloading.

c. The download is pinned to your notifications bar so even if you close the browser, the downloading continues without pause. it also has a very low fail rate compared to Opera & Opera Mini Browser.

3. The browser also allows you to save pages for offline view

4. Another Feature that was implemented in the latest update is the something i will call Global bookmarks. Which is a collection of bookmarks of popular sites accessed by users. These are also arranged according to their various categories just like the articles; "Recommended, News, Sports, social"
What particularly tripped me about the Global bookmarks link is that the major betting sites are available under the sports section. Which means they took into account their Nigerian users.

My Final Verdict?
This is a browser worth using if you want a different, cleaner experience than what you have been used to with Chrome, Firefox, Opera & Opera Mini and UCBrowser.

This wicked browser that drains data without mercy. I've never seen any browser that drains data this much.

Ucbrowser can open a page with 50kb, this browser will use 500kb.

Perhaps you should try updating it and using it. It might just impress you.

alright. Though why I'm sceptical about it is because I use Chrome and UC and I don't really see the need for a third browser(i have puffin and Firefox frozen and unused) nevertheless, I'll try this on your recommendation

Can it sync bookmarks? These two browsers effortessly sync bookmarks over mobile and PC platforms.

Chrome now offers navigation bar at the bottom of the screen with a little manual tweaking on the stable version. Beta users have been enjoying this feature since June.

UC browser can save offline pages and has the best download engine for a browser. I disabled the news articles on the front page but left that of Chrome since it has synced with my interests from Google Assistant.

I don't think any browser can dislodge Chrome and UC Browser from my favorite web browser apps for now.
