Ugwuanyi should come to Soludo to learn how to chase village hoodlums in enugu that are collecting and harrassing people.

Ugwuanyi should also come and under study how Soludo has fixed waste disposal so that he can clean his state and equally create employment. Enugu should get it right in the next poll. Another Ugwuanyi will be a major disaster.

This really is a none issue! If someone says his state is ‘premium state’, just read it and move on….after all, it’s their thread! Conversely, anyone taking offence at such a harmless designation can go to their own state thread, post a positive news report that shows their state in a good light, and likewise attach a ‘premium state’ status to their own state based on said report! We shouldn’t be spoiling for a fight over every little thing!

Nwanne, it is becoming a serious issue and this is not who we are as a people.
If you notice, all of the anti ESN propaganda has been aimed at Anambra. There is a deliberate attempt by people who know more than you to put a wedge between Anambra ppl and the rest of the SE and the people doing it know that if you used a sweet tongue, the intention will work because Ndiigbo and their self esteem problems. They have identified Anambra as a weak link and if you know the geographical trap that is the SE and how it is designed, you will know why it is important to target Ndi Anambra.

Nigerians struggled in the war to break through what is now called Anambra. They don't want to struggle like that again. I know many ppl on here as small in their thinking but I have seen you posts in the past and know you can process what I'm saying well.

So nonsense like that has nothing to do with who we are as Ndiigbo. Anyi enweghi eze. Gini bu premium state. I si na nke gi bu premium, gwa anyi nke ndi ozo bu?

Na wah oh! Which one is ‘development fee’ again just because one is building a house!? And how are the funds collected accounted for and to whom!? There’s a lot of illegal stuff going on in Nigeria, but somehow i can understand why some of these things happen because of the high rate of unemployment!

If the state gov’t collects any plot development levies, and least 50% should remain within the community the funds were gotten from!

What facts? Does any railway exist currently at Onitsha? Why then do you expect Buhari's administration to build a railway bridge at the same time with the Niger Bridge?

Are both under the same contract?

The bridge is a Julius Berger job while the proposed railway coming from Port Harcourt is to be carried out by CCECC. Are they the same companies?

These are what an intelligent person will first think about before jumping to conclusions. But you just like to bring out the victim card all the f*cking time like a toddler.

SOLUDO CONSTITUTES STATE-LOCAL GOVERNMENT JOINT ACCOUNT COMMITTEE

By Christian ABURIME

Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR has inaugurated a nine-member Committee for the State-Local Government Joint Account.

The Governor inaugurated the Committee shortly after the State Executive Council Meeting, at the Government House, Awka.

Members of the Committee include the Commissioner for Local Government, Mr. Collins Nwabunwanne who will serve as the Committee Chairman, Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Ifeatu Onejeme, Vice Chairman and Dr. Leopold Arinze Nwankwo-Ikwueto, Secretary.

Other members include Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, member representing Central Senatorial Zone, Dr. Nnamdi Nwadiogbu, member representing North Senatorial Zone, Sir Van George Ezeogudi, member representing South Senatorial Zone, Dr. Chibuike Ofobuike, member and Transition Committee Chairman representing South Zone.

Others are Mrs. Amaka Obi, member and Transition Committee Chairman, representing Central Zone, Mr. Livinus Onyenwe, member and Transition Committee Chairman representing North Zone.

Speaking shortly after performing the inauguration, Governor Soludo appreciated them for accepting to serve and commiserated with them for coming to serve in some very difficult circumstances.

According to the Governor; "the resources aren't there. But at the same time, you are being called upon to do some very special disruptive function. It is going to be alot of hard work. Why do I say that? Because you are being called upon to do very disruptive work at a time of major challenges in the Country. Major challenges in the finances of the state and local government and you've been called upon to find the solution".

"We are going to be employing over four thousand teachers, it'll be charged to JAAC. Meanwhile, you have over fourteen billion naira debt in terms of arrears to gratuity and pensions. Part of it we have started to pay" and so on and so forth.

The Governor further explained that the local system is largely two fold including its financing and its administration.

"We are going to set up the local government administration. That's definite. But the administration of the local government is a bit of challenge. The infrastructure in the various local governments including the ones that have been burnt down which need to be repaired as well as the workload. Even staff don't go to work in the local governments. But we must eventually get the services down to the people", the Governor said.

"For us we have a vision to have responsibility devolve to base and to have local government that is empowered from the base, to deliver development to the grassroot. And consequently, the finances that are very limited will have to be run in a different way. We have a peculiar local government system where the staff and other obligations of the local government are pulled together.

On local government autonomy, Professor Soludo said; "I hear people talk about autonomy. If you want to implement a strict autonomy, it'll mean that each local government will employ and pay its staff. That's what it'll mean but this is not the case. That's why you find someone in Idemili working in Ayamelum and someone from Ayamelum working in Nnewi South because they have a pool system".

Governor Soludo also took time to explain that resources accruable to the State governments from the federal are low because of NNPC's inability to remit a kobo to the federation account, which they may not do again because it is now a limited company, emphasizing that there should be some sort of competitive system in place for the various local governments.

He said; "we are trying to devolve the responsibilities; waste management, security because we are now doing security at the community level, issues of Environment and so on and so forth. My aspiration and with you as the Committee, we are going to work together so that they too can compete and have lee way to raise their own revenues. They should become creative in generating revenue. Of course, when that lingers, we also expect you together with the service commission, to have some thought about not just to run the account, but you also have a job to do to have a new local government system and the financing framework that will deliver development to the people. We are seeking to have a local government that truly works"; Soludo added.

The Governor pointed out that regarding the management of the JAAC, alot of things will be done differently after careful thought process, especially in terms of financing options.

"Some have got some assets that they can charge. Some have shops that they can 'premise' while some run mass transit system and so on and so forth. With the wisdom and calibre of people that make up this commission, I'm sure you will deliver because our intention is to rejuvenate the local government system"; concluded the Governor.

Earlier while presenting the Committee members for Inauguration, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mr. Collins Nwabunwanne described them as competent to deliver on the mandate.

In a vote of thanks, Chairman of Transition Committee Chairmen, Mr. Livinus Onyenwe who spoke onbehalf of other members of the Committee, thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve in that capacity, pledging to work round the clock to efficiently deliver service to Ndi Anambra.

Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Ifeatu Onejeme, Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government Affairs, Mr. Asha Nnabuife, among others, were present at the event.

Under Obiano the quality of administration dropped drastically. Our success in education, reinvigorated by Obi dimmed , many economic roads and inner city roads were abandoned. But he quickly went and drained our savings to build the airport and ICC.

When Obi resumed office as the governor he met a debt of over 38 billion incurred from unpaid salaries, pensions and gratuity. Obi cleared all these debts and Anambra owed nobody the day Obiano took over. But today, look at how broke Anambra is.

Today, Anambra is shamefully sitting in the fifth place in the waec table of performance. This is the first time in 16yrs!

We have kings. Anyi nwelu eze nweka nde okenye. All of ermm...

We don't practice headless autonomous villages here where every street has kings.

England has kings and they are not peasants. Anambra has kings and they are not peasants rather fa wu Ugo.
Lol, these comedians again looking desperately for something to chest beat about. That's how una start to call one of numerous igwes in Nnewi autonomous communities as Obi of Nnewi. We all know that so called obi of Onitsha control only two tiny Local Government and their kingship was imported from Benin

Even Arochukwu with their well documented well organised government never had any powerful head. Most part of Anambra are Benin and Igala conquered territory

Basilo101 the ediotic bitter envious nwa nsukka. Anambra is a monolithic state with some of the most internationally and nationally recognised Kings, unlike your useless worthless enugu state that doesn't have any king in the class of Obi ofOnitsha or igwe Nnewi or Eze Uzu of Awka or Eze Nri. Obi of Onitsha is a first class king and the most important stool in igboland, that's why he is rated amongst the first class Kings in Nigeria like Oba of Benin, Ooni of Ife, etc. Stop being envious of Anambra, we have nothing in common with your backward enugu state.

Basilo101 the bitter nwa nsukka. Anambra is a monolithic state with the most powerful kings that are recognised by the Federal Government, unlike your useless igala dominated enugu state that has no king that's recognised by the Federal Government. Anambra is one state with one people and one culture, unlike your enugu state that's dominated by igede, igala, etc, because they conquered the most areas of the present enugu state. Even today at nsukka area of enugu state, Fulanis have conquered most of it and have settled there.

You are totally correct. Anambra is a monolithic state with the best cultural dynasty that spans over 500yrs. Obi of Onitsha dynasty spans over 500yrs. Again, Anambra through Eri is the origin of igboland. There's no igboland with Anambra.
