As an imolite, I will not say because I am from Imo and accept wrong narrative.

1. Anambra has the largest oil and gas in SE region

2. The purported 43 oil wells are still in Rivers state and shall remain there because it belongs to Rivers state.

I am an engineer in Agip, Shell and Texaco, so I know how these things works. Imo state produces very little oil and that explains the peanut they receive in oil derivation.

With utmost love from me

This your prayer won't work, infact it will speak against you and your generations, what nonsense? why is it that people like you are so devilish against your sister state. it's just an open argument he has is opinion you have yours. Imo state will collect all there oil wells just like Abia state have collected theirs. BTW this recent news of Anambra joining the league of oil producing state is cool but your lots arguing it the highest in South east it's not true. Abia state alone has over 100 oil wells and 3 oil intalations. Imo state am not sure of the figure. Anambra with just 11 can not be the highest, sometimes the way you guys from brag and downgrade other states in south east is disheartening. If you argue about gas reserve then I may listen to you. but oil wells. NO way. There are state with over 300 oil wells them never make noise just 11 oil wells you guys are insulting everyone. na wa oo

You had no issues with the post that triggered the one you just quoted. Your hypocritical post will work against you and generation unborn.

The only reason you reacted is because that post affected your useless state. But you never condemned your brother that rather made a damning post against Anambra.

Imo and Abia has very little oil, and yes Anambra has more oil than Imo and Abia states. Abia case is even worse because despite the oil revenue for years, the state is the worst and most backward state in Nigeria.

Even as small as Ondo produces, it is still far bigger than what Imo and Abia states produces.

It is not in the number of wells, but in production capacity of each well.

Anambra has the largest gas reserve in Nigeria and also has the largest oil deposit in igbo land. Now cry cool

We should not be so much concerned about number of oil wells. What matters most is the proven oil/gas reserves and investors available. As crude oil has almost gone moribund, global focus currently is on gas deposits due to several negative environmental impacts from crude oil drilling, exploration and use. Hence, with huge proven gas reserves, investors can create as many wells as possible depending on investor's storage capacity from it's facility optimal capacity. Focus currently is on creation of gas wells, that is one of the reasons petroleum industry bill was passed so that investors will have a risk free environment to invest and upgrade their facilities, and more investors will come into play. One multinational energy company is enough to create more than fifty gas wells within its supply chain. Shell alone has more than one thousand oil producing wells within the Niger Delta region.

Anambra has the largest Gas Reserves in the country. And that is the reason every struggle is to get a good succeeding governor with foresight, intellect, influence and mission that can easily get investors into the state for adequate harnessing of the mineral deposits, just as the current governor has done to bring in investors in the agricultural, manufacturing, power, and other sectors.

Don't waste your time replying them. It is sooooooo painful to their wicked hearts even if it's one well returned to the owner. These are the comic characters that hate justice and fairness in anything.

The reason I totally hate Nigeria is that even ordinary citizens have become so wicked too. It's not even a question of the politicians anymore. An average Nigerian does not have any sense of justice or equity. In fact, they hate where they see justice, yet they expect justice to be done to them when they are oppressed. Little wonder why nothing ever works in such a society where people condone and support evil. That is why the country is totally doomed. The wickedness in the heart of an average Nigerian is just too much!

Serious efforts are being made to take out 100 million Nigerians out of the poverty level before the next decade, the federal government reiterated this commitment through the federal ministry of petroleum resources during a two day national gas expansion programme, (NGEP) in Owerri, Imo State.

Timipre Sylva, former governor of Bayelsa State, now Minister of State Petroleum Resources, said this at a 2-day programme of the NGEP organized by the Imo State government in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources .

“The programme is geared towards the implementation of Mr President’s promises to take 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the coming decade by ensuring that locally produced as well as available, affordable and acceptable fuel is sufficiently supplied across the country,” he said.
According to him, Nigeria is richly endowed with mineral resources specifically crude oil and gas. He disclose that Imo State holds a substantial quantity of gas with over 200 trillion cubic feet and upsides of over 600 tcf, informing that gas is a catalyst for socio-economic renaissance .

Even as the year 2020 had already been declared a year of gas, heads of inauguration of committees on national gas expansion programmes was done on January 16, 2020 but the federal government has declared the year 2020 to 2030 as the decade of gas, he noted.

NGEP , according to him “is an initiative designed to reinforce and to expand gas supply as well as to stimulate demand in Nigeria, through the effective and efficiient mobilization and utilization of all facets of resources and infrastructure in Nigeria”.

NGEP will also promote the use of natural gas as the main energy source for sustained industrialiazation through the establishment of gas based industries, such as petrochemicals, fertilizers, pharmaceauticals , textiles, etc, he said, that the programme had already taken place in Ekiti and Anambra states.

Another objective of NGEP is that human capital will be developed and jobs will also be created in the gas subsector. And on the implementation strategy, he said, “while the year 2020 was dedicated to harmonious creation, the year 2021 and beyond is for programme implementation”.
He commended governor Hope Uzodinma for his commitment, passion and support for the programme and enjoined Imo residents to embrace the programme.

Governor Hope Uzodinma who spoke through the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Paul Emeziem, described the programme as that of change, loaded with cost, efficiency and sustainability alternatives among others.

The governor commended the federal government for initiating the programme adding that it is a progress in the area of development and civilization of mankind.

“The federal government has done its bit and it is a process of enhancement and our life process and it will create employment opportunity for our people” he stated, even as the programme attracted goodwill messages from a number of Imo state government officials.

“Approximately, 1Billion cubic feet (Bcf) per year can generate about 1,000MW of electricity at 75 percent output efficiency and minimal losses. Hence, 2Tcf proved reserves in Anambra basin can generate 2,000MW of electricity for approximately 10 years” Iledare said.
The Energy Research Analyst at Ecobank said there are significant investments in cottage industries in the south-eastern part of the country that could benefit immensely from small scale power projects that are distributed within the local distribution network.
Asked what the regulatory agency can do to help jump-start bringing the vast gas resources in Anambra basin to the value chain; “DPR as a regulator may not necessarily do anything because it is not an operator or investor in exploration and production like NNPC. However, if there is a regulatory bottleneck, DPR can come in and facilitate early production in the gas assets”, said the DPR official.
Within the Anambra basin, there are Ugwuoba and Igbariam gas fields; both contain some of the successfully explored gas wells in the basin. Some of the wells in the basin; Igbarim-1, Ajire-1, Akukwa-1 and Akukwa-2, were drilled by Shell-BP between 1938 and 1939 but were abandoned because at that time, the last thing they were looking for was gas.
There are also claims by the Anambra state government that two of the Oil Prospecting Licenses (OPLs 915 and 916) within the basin which belongs to the state government-owned Orient Petroleum has an estimated reserve of 193 million barrels of oil condensate and 30Tcf of gas.
Energy-starved Nigeria is a paradox of gas resource abundance. Its proven gas reserve is about 186Tcf, most of which come from associated gas, with prospects of the reserve base rising up to 600Tcf if deliberate efforts are made to explore for non-associated gas, yet 80 percent of its power plants which are gas-fired remain partially or perpetually offline as a result of non-availability of gas supplies.

Pandax nwa imo state cure your ignorance, bitterness, envy and frustration. Anambra is the leader of oil and gas in igbo land. And, yes Anambra basin is almost 99% in Anambra state. Fact cool

At a time Nigeria is in dire need of all the foreign exchange it can get, $5 billion is trapped under the Anambra basin, an under-explored area with undeveloped proved gas deposits estimated to be over 10 Trillion cubic feet (Tcf).
The basin, reputed as next to Niger Delta in terms of hydrocarbon potentials, has a sedimentary thickness of 9km and covers about 3,000sqKm, with the eastern and western limits of the basin defined by Abakaliki and Ibadan.
“The 10Tcf quoted for Anambra basin is based on few wells drilled. The value could go higher with more gas exploration. The figure as quoted will be a big boost to Nigeria reserve base that has solely depended on Niger Delta basin as its main reserve base”, said an official at Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), government’s oil and gas regulatory agency.
“The discovered resources in the Anambra basin are in three categories; proved reserves, which perhaps are about 2Tcf, the remaining 8Tcf of the 10Tcf are probably unproved reserves and then the contingent resources. Thus, only about 2Tcf, which is proved is of any significant economic purposes as of now”, said Wumi Iledare, professor of energy economics at the Emerald Energy Institute, University of Port Harcourt.
“Assuming the price of gas remains $2.50 per Million cubic feet (Mcf), the revenue to be injected into the economy in aggregate from Anambra basin would be about $5 billion over the next ten years using. This would expand local economy in terms of output and employment and the multiplier effect in the community would be visible”, Iledare added.
Industry players expect government to also spur private investors into action in Anambra basin through policy support and incentives.
“There is a significant scope for development of a gas market for power and industrial consumption in Anambra basin. To achieve this, policy support and incentives are required to encourage the development of gas resources and associated infrastructure”, Jeff Corey, Chief Operating Officer, Seven Energy, told a delegation from Nigerian Gas Association recently. “Anambra basin will open a whole new area to have gas supply for power and industrial use”, Corey added.
The ultimate support the government can give, according to Dolapo Oni, Energy Research Analyst at Ecobank, is liberalizing the price for gas to enable a ‘willing buyer, willing seller’ arrangement. This will encourage investment in pipelines, gas processing facilities and gas production.
“The more important question is how we monetise these reserves, either through the power sector or LNG or even gas-to-Liquids plants. The key advantage is that with pockets of gas reserves across the country, we can distribute power generation around the country more and reduce dependence on the grid”, said Oni said.
Although conjectural, with right policy and incentives, experts say that within 18 months, two wells can be delivered within Anambra Basin dedicated to a combined cycle gas power plant.

As at today:

Imo has 200tcf - 600tcf of proven gas reserve
Anambra has 2tcf -30tcf of proven gas reserve

The more gas reserve in Imo explains the reason Shell and Seplat are investing $2.5b at the Assa North Ohaji South Project

More oil production in Imo is the reason why Walter-Smith has completed its refinery and planning for expansion; whereas, our own Orient refinery is all about motion without movement.

Maybe tomorrow, Anambra might have more gas(as we discover more) than Imo, but we do not have the data to support that assertion

Flawed and out-of-point argument. We are talking about oil & gas deposits in Imo & Anambra states and not the number of Hydrocarbon basins in Nigeria

In fact Imo has more oil & gas proven reserves than the whole of Anambra Basins

And Anambra State is not 95% of Anambra Basin. It straddled into kogi, Enugu etc

Flawed and out-of-point argument. We are talking about oil & gas deposits in Imo & Anambra states and not the number of Hydrocarbon basins in Nigerian fact Imo has more oil & gas proven reserves than the whole of Anambra Basins

Your argument is greatly flawed and out of order. You were talking about gas and I showed you fact sheets of evidence that Anambra leads in gas. You digressed to oil. Again Anambra leads in oil deposits with more productive wells unlike Imo state with more empty wells.

Anambra basin is 95% in Anambra state and has more proven reserves, that's why it is recognized in the map. Please where's the basin for Imo state? None, because they have little oil and gas

The data you provided showed that Anambra basin has 10tcf of gas reserve and it supported the earlier data provided by me which showed that Anambra basin has a proven gas deposit of 2tcf - 30tcf

Then, I provided a data earlier that showed that Imo has a proven gas deposit of 200tcf-600tcf https://www.businessamlive.com/imo-holds-over-200-trillion-cubic-feet-gas-deposits/

please my people is 2/10/30tcf greater than 200/600tcf?

I posted a table that shows that Anambra basin which is in Anambra state has more proven gas and oil reserves.

But you have failed to show us the basin where Imo state belong

Do you know why Anambra is recognized as one of the basins? It is because there are more proven reserves in Anambra than Imo state.

My people be the judge, would you have oil and gas basin named after you without huge commercial quantities of oil and gas in your domain?
